I know that Schaffer is working his ass off right now but I like how the skins are "cooler than the other side of the pillow" right now. There are some serious free agents out there right now and the skins may get some big time talent if a deal gets done. |
Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm
I just can't see the two sides not working something out at the last minute, do they really want to risk throwing everything away? We'll see.

Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm
If they do get a deal done, I'll be estatic. Right now, I can't stay away from the computer and TV for more than 10 minutes. This is really gonna screw up my law school grades.

Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm

Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm
I even heard that the Raiders are 26 Million over. I wonder why no one wanted that job?
|
Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm
We're actually in a lot worse shape than some of those other teams. The Broncos just trimmed $18 million off their cap, so they're in pretty good shape. The Raiders can shave off a boatload of money in just a few moves. The Jets are about to renegotiate a deal with Pennington, which will save them a bunch. Only the Redskins and Chiefs appear to be in serious, serious trouble. That said, everyone is going to feel the pain in a big way if a deal isn't struck with the NFLPA.

if they cut 2 players and they save 18-19mill. their not really in as bad a shape as we are right now. |

if a deal does get done we may be very quiet, cause the skins just moved a huge 2006 cap problem to 2007 and 2008. Adding new contracts just means a worse situation next year (unless the cap expends by bargaining or new tv contract). |
Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm
The cap is expected to be $95 million is there is no extension. It is expected to be between $102-105 million if there is one. A new extension also means singing bonuses can be spread over six years rather than four (as they would be without it).

Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm
a new cba and being able to prorate over 6 years would instantly save a ton on rogers and lavar, among others
|
Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm
Colin Cowherd of ESPN is reporting the owners have voted to suspend talks with the NFLPA effective immediately. I hope the Skins players arein a restructure kind of mood
|
Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm
I read in the Post that cba extention would also raise this years cap from $95 miilion, to $105 maybe $110 million. Did i read that right?

Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm
Mark Maske just said on TK's shows that its very unlikely any deal will be signed. Let the cuts begin.
|
Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm
No agreement, ESPN says like 94.2m for this year

Yep, just heard it on TK. No extension, no increase, no nothing. All talks have been broken off. |
Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm
John Clayton is reporting, Armageddon is at hand! "the worst case scenario has happened". "Chaos has already ensued". Make your peace with the lord and................bend over and kiss your contract goodbye, etc, etc.

Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm
espn posted at 10:33 that the nfl had declined the nflpa's proposal. Unless the nflpa is miraculously pressured by its membership & makes an 11th hr. change, the cutting will pick up serious speed.
The only chance I see for a last minute deal is if somehow agents & all these soon to be free agents pressure the nflpa because they need a big contract this year. That seems unlikely though, since there are probably more players that will benefit by not having a new cba & getting an uncapped year in 07 & perhaps thereafter. For some reason, I have some weird optimism about this, maybe I'm just stuck in the glory days of our 2 super bowls in strike seasons, but I have a feeling we'll pull off some crazy restructuring w/the Danny giving a couple 007 winks to some players to get them to stay. |
Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm
let the wild ride begin. our draft is going to be more important now. FAs are going to be older and crappier from now on.
|
Re: NFL extends Friday's 4pm deadline to 10pm
as of this morning the owners met for 57 minutes and they called off talks from the lastest nflpa,s offer.....this according to espnews this morning.
