Isaac Bruce Released
Henry Ellard worked out well for us...
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
doesn't matter. I wouldn't pick him up anyways because he's too old.
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
If he was 5 years younger.
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
I wouldnt mind I. Bruce but the contract needs to be very, very cap friendly. Also, if we were to go that rout, with Mr. Bruce, we need to draft a young WR, to bring along. Everyone knows that WR's out of the draft take approx. 3 years to be brought up to speed, and I think that Bruce may be a nice option to hold over a spot till the young WR draftee is ready.

Re: Isaac Bruce Released
bruce will be 34, id bring him in for cheap
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
moss/bruce i like that combo with a large mountain dew and onion rings...
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
i would take bruce ONLY if the price was right.hey, that has a ring to it!
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
He would be a good guy to complement Moss and Patten. Lets see what happens as the week goes on...
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
he's more injury prone now, but he's got class A talent, and could give 3 more good years.
If the price is right. Clearly the best WR in FA so far. |
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
Word is he may reunite with Mike Martz in Detroit....because we all know the Lions need more WRs
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
Bruce would be much better than Taylor Jacobs ...

I would be much better than Taylor Jacobs.. Well, at least I wouldn't be worse! |
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
Well, as I mentioned a couple of months ago if the price is right I'd love to reunite Bruce with Saunders.
Like That Guy says, he's probably got a good 2-3 years left if used right |
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
lets get bruce
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
Don't feel like looking up his stats. Anyone have some info on him? I just remember him shying away from contact a LOT after the catch.

Re: Isaac Bruce Released
Sweet. Thanks...
To keep the conversation away from "We need a big possession receiver." I'm just going to say we need someone to go over the middle. Bruce isn't exactly the kind of guy to do that. I definitely wouldn't oppose him coming, but I just want someone to open up that particular area of the field. |

averages over 1,000 yards a year as a #2. very consistant production. |
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
I agree, but that's in the Rams offense. Like I said before, I definitely wouldn't be unhappy about getting him, but we have our "burner". I just seriously feel that the middle part of the field is a place we fail to attack. Cooley runs a lot of outside routes and is a short to intermediate threat. Don't get me wrong, Bruce is a talent but if there was another option who might even have less production but maybe a bigger body that can take more abuse, I'd want to give that person a look over Bruce.

almost as much as the Cardinals :biggthump I think he'd be a good pick up if cheap cuz almost anything would be an upgrade receiving wise over thrash and especially the huge dissapointment known as Jacobs. |
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
I'm looking forward to seeing Bruce on the field of "Dancing with the Stars".

lol |
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
Whats the chance of the price being right? a lot of teams could use a vet reciever for their young guys w/ all these young recievers everyone likes a vet to work w/ em
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
I think that he's our guy. I've never heard anything negative character wise, and he's had extremely consistent production. Brunell/Campbell need more than moss.... if not bruce than who?
I also think thrash is finished, he may be a #4 but average players don't perform when its this late in there career. I think we may be 2-3 WR deep in the whole when in comes draft/fa time. |
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
Bruce would be much better than Taylor Jacobs ...
Bruce would be better than Jacobs with one hand tied behind his back. |
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
If you're not a woman, you're already better than Jacobs.
If you are a woman, you're still probably already better than Jacobs. This is part for joke and part for serious. My ass is seriously chapped over what an f-ing bust Jacobs was. I know that in many conversations on this board I stuck my neck out saying this was his time to step up. Oh, how wrong I was. Taylor you are what you have, and you sir, are a pussy. |
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
If we get Isaac Bruce, Im taking a one way train to Dallas. Where it will be silver and blue for eternity. Come on guys, he will be overpriced, and over valued.
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
vet min., 800 yards, we're gold baby...
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
People want Moulds, but are saying Bruce is too old. Give me a break they are the same age.
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
i think we should pick this guy up immediately theres no one really in the draft that really is that appealing.......i doubt that hell sign vet min considering the fact that he got released bc he wouldnt restructure his contract. so thats out. but id love for this guy to sign with us.........everyone on this site is looking for a low mileage lamborghini asking for very low price. we need to get a reality check here and realize that no1s an idiot an there all gnna ask for more than what theyre worth!.....u get what u pay for in most cases. :grouphug:

Re: Isaac Bruce Released
I think my stock response for any good player in a need position on the market should be "Sure I'll take him for the right price." Stupid CBA is preoccupying me.
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
Bruce may have a lot of f'ball left. Someone said he doesn't go over the middle well - I beg to differ, as I recall he runs the slant as well as anyone & is pretty tough. Great hands & I think blocks fairly well too.
No doubt about it, he's a Gibb's type guy, would be a great fit for us if a team like the vikings doesn't snatch him up at a high price. They've got the $ to pay him. |
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
When I saw Bruce's name come across the ESPN wire I was definitely intrigued, but he does have the age and injury factors working against him.

"While the Rams had only a brief discussion Monday with Bruce's agent, Jimmy Sexton, four teams had called expressing interest in Bruce by late afternoon. Sexton declined to name those teams, but the Post-Dispatch confirmed the identity of three of the clubs: Detroit, Houston and Washington." |
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
I think that Ike Bruce would be a great addition to this club. You put him as the #2 receiver and forget about it for the next 2 or 3 years. He was a great receiver. He still can be very good. We could draft a WR in the later rounds have Bruce, Patten and Moss ahead of him and bring him along until that guy is ready to slide at #2 ahead of Patten or at #3 behind him when Ike decides he's done. I think adding Isaac Bruce immediately makes this team better.
He is old, but we don't need a long term solution at the #2 spot right now. I don't think there's anyone in the draft who is going to come right into camp and jump ahead of Patten on the Skins depth chart. Isaac Bruce could be the short term solution to that problem. Plus, he's one the best receivers in Rams history. |
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
i'd take him over curtis or bryant or givens or R-el...
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
i'd take him over curtis or bryant or givens or R-el...
It depends on what the Skins are looking for. If we need a "long term solution" I think that Givens or Randle El would be the way to go. However, I think that Bruce is pretty much a can't miss guy. He's would come in, be the #2, and catch pretty much everything that comes his way. He has great hands and he runs great routes. Everyone else is rough around the edges. I think that if we get Bruce he'll only be here for 2 or 3 years, but I think it would be a very good stretch for him. I've always liked Ike Bruce. I would love to see him with the Skins. |
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
the WR market is terrible in FA and the draft, i think he's the best short term answer while waiting for someone else to free up or develop ;)
|
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
I think Bruce still has a couple years left in the tank. I wouldn't mind seeing him in burgundy and gold.
But aren't we looking for a possesion receiver with size? |
Re: Isaac Bruce Released
whose out there? i'd take talent and production over size any day...
