Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2361969
Lets say, for argument sake, that Green Bay lets Walker seek a trade, what are the feelings about the Redskins trying to get him? I mean I think that he is better, when healthy, than any of the current FA WR's out there now. I for one wouldn't mind seeing him line up across from Moss... Thoughts... |
Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
No doubt Walker would want big money, and he's not interested in being anybody's WR2.
Did he ever renegotiate that salary before he went down last year? According to the Player's Assoc. website, he's only due to make 1.15 mil this year, and for the past 4 years he's been averaging about half a mil per year, so he's no doubt going to be looking to make up for lost time by getting *paid* with a new contract. |
Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
I would love it if it wasn't a trade. I don't really want to give anything up for him. He was injured last year but yeah if he plays at 100% moss/walker will be a force to matchup against.

Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
Im curious what the Pack would be asking. I love Javon Walker, but his price would be severly reduced because of his injury.
|
Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
yeah i'd like to have him, but he'd want a big contract, and i don't think he'd like being a #2. There was also a washington post article the other day that said we are trying to get brandon lloyd.

I wouldn't say that. Does Steve Smith ring any bells? That's what his agent's going to be saying, and somebody's going to take a chance and pay him. If Peerless Price can get paid, Javon Walker is getting paid. |
Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
Walker won't be cheap, plus we've already got one #1 WR. Having two would only cause problems.
|
Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
if his injury keeps him down id be ALL for it. hes a good allaround receiver

Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
Who would the Skins trade for this guy? Ramsey and Jacobs packaged with a third round pick??? I definately dont see this guy coming to the skins. Any trade options we could explore???

Anybody who would take Ramsey and Jacobs for a guy like Javon Walker is smoking something. Plus the Pack don't need a QB, they drafted Aaron Rodgers to take over whenever Fav-ruh finally hangs it up. |

That's cool man. At least you're not surfing some of these weird sites that kids your age tend to get caught up in. Things really heat up here around training camp time though!! Can't wait!! |
Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
Walker is a good WR but he doesn't fit here really. He'd cost us too much in cap space and in picks to get him and he'd potentially be a malcontent about not being the number 1. If this were last year and we didn't have Santana then I'd be all over him. We need a solid WR2 who knows his role and doesn't cost us an arm and a leg. We have other needs to spend money on too. This team is close to being good. No reason to introduce potentially sqweaky wheels.

Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
I love Javon Walker as a player but he would cost just too dang much for my tastes. We can get better value elsewhere.

Love him, but zero chance we could afford him.

playground playa baby.

Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
walker would be a great add, but we have nothing to trade for him. I don't think they'd be any problem with this #1/#2 stuff people keep bringing up. He'd be a starter, moss would be a starter. in GB he had driver and they both did 1,000+ yards. In arizona and indy there's no problems with #1/#2 WRs either. If you've got two #1s, they'll both make plays.
WAY better than lloyd (who i really don't like, he's just a more athletic 50/50), but i don't think we'll get either. I would give up picks for walker though. |
Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
oh LOL when i saw walker, i i thought they were talking about "texas ranger" and the pack was the wolf pack from WCW. jk! LOLZZ!!11 LMAO omg
seriously though i bet the price for walker would be the same for lloyd and id take walker in a heartbeat over lloyd |
Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
What are you guys smoking?
Walker was 3rd in receiving yards and 6th in TD's in '04. Behind guys like Horn, Holt, Harrison, Owens, and Moss. There is not a CHANCE you get him for Brandon Lloyd money. |
Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
you dont think so even due to injury? and by the way im smoking cigars if you must know.
|
Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
you wont get him for lloyd money, but you'll get much better production.

Thank you. I'll echo your sentiments. I have faith that Al Saunders will be able to find a way to make Javon Walker happy, I'm sure. |
Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
walker + moss + patten.... gives me the jibblies. I need to settle down and think rationally however.
Do we even have the trade leverage? |

Again, I have two words for you: Steve Smith. |

Earlier in this thread, though not to you specifically. |

He's going to want big, big money (even if he's coming off an injury). I'd guess he'll want $12+ million SB. Plus, he'll cost a high round pick to get. |
Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
DAMMIT! I'm losing my touch. All is lost.
|
Re: Walker wants Pack to let him explore trade options
I don't blame him for wanting out. Walker is a great receiver & will command big $$ in my opinion, and I think he will probably be worth it. I'd love to have him, but just don't see it happening.
