Jason Campbell: 2006 Season Starting QB?
The argument will be is he ready to start. Some QB's wait and are good, some start right away and are good.
My impression of Joe Gibbs is he will let a young guy take the controls. Look at his race team as an extreme example and 2 of the three drivers are rookies and they are tarring up the field. Jason Campbell is a very gifted player with great size and strength. My "guess" is the Coach will tell all QB's in camp it's up for grabs and which ever does better will start. I say Jason Campbell #17 will be starting at the seasons open. Poll? Jason will start 1st week? Start by week 4? End the season as starter? Not be a factor? Yeah, I'm just buggin and waiting on the season to start at midnight. Hail Skins! |
Re: Jason Campbell: 2006 Season Starting QB?
maybe next year

Re: Jason Campbell: 2006 Season Starting QB?
Only If Brunell Goes Down In The Preseason. MAYBE AT THE END OF THE SEASON IF BRUNELL REPEATS TWO YEARS AGO OR HAS AN INJURY. IF CAMPBELL PLAYS GREAT AND BRUNELL IS READY TO COME BACK I THINK IT WOULD BE A WASTE OF TALENT TO BENCH CAMPBELL. ONCE CAMPBELL GETS IN AND PROVES HE IS OUR QB OF THE FUTURE THERE SHOULD BE NO TURNING BACK NO MATTER IF BRUNELL WAS HAVING A GREAT YEAR OR NOT. I'M CURIOUS TO SEE HOW THIS ALL WILL PAN OUT. CAN'T KEEP THE GUY HOLDING THE PLAYBOOK AND WARMING THE BENCH FOREVER.

That is the only way unless Burnell just loses it! Then if Ramsey is goen to the jet and we didn't get a vet Campbell will learn by fire!!!!!!! |
Re: Jason Campbell: 2006 Season Starting QB?
Anybody Think Playing Campbell Would Be Worth Maybe Taking A Potential Step Backwards.
|
Re: Jason Campbell: 2006 Season Starting QB?
He will play, but Brunell will start the season.

Not yet. If the Skins had taken a salary cap bath this year, maybe. But if the only reason the team is playing Campbell this year is to get him the reps, then it's the wrong idea. I think trading Ramsey this year is the wrong idea, but hey, what do I know. |

Re: Jason Campbell: 2006 Season Starting QB?
My view is you're a rookie for one year. After that year is over, there are no more reasons to hold you on the bench. You've had a year to learn, and hence this year I'd treat Campbell vs Brunell as if it were any other QB battle. The best one plays.
In my mind, it already is an open competition, and I think Gibbs will treat it that way too. I think Brunell will end up starting this season, but I gotta give Campbell a chance to beat him out. Based on Gibbs' glowing reviews of Campbell, I think we have two good QBs entering this season, and that's a real sweet problem to have. |

Brunell will likely start the season, BUT if Campbell shines in the preseason and appears capable of playing and playing well, Campbell will likely get a shot at some point. |

I don't want Gibbs saying so and so will be his starter. Then when that changes, if that changes, everyone starts to say "Can we trust Gibbs?". I'd rather Brunell and Campbell and maybe a 3rd QB depending on who go into camp battling for the starting spot. |
Re: Jason Campbell: 2006 Season Starting QB?
As Long As We Are Killing Someone, Getting Killed Or Brunell Goes Out With Injury. Thats How We See Campbell.
|
Re: Jason Campbell: 2006 Season Starting QB?
open competition can't hurt. see who's playing better, let each start two pre season games. brunell doesn't really need a lot of reps at this stage of his career.

If it weren't for the b.s. hype that Vick gets, Brunell would have been a probowler. |

NeckCAR, LOL

Re: Jason Campbell: 2006 Season Starting QB?
Let's apply the process of elimination.
Al Saunders' plan begins with stretching and spreading the field. I can't see Brunell capable of doing that. Can you? Therefore, it's Campbell. |

You think that the QB isn't Saunders' decision? Gibbs said that the offense was his (Saunders). Two million is a lot to pay for a flunky. |

Could be just as easily attributed to the system. The offense seemed to be all or nothing, either a screen or a fly. |

If it's Saunders' decision, and he bases it on how much money the QB makes, we've got the wrong guy. |

GIBBS WOULDN'T ALLOW THAT ANYWAYS. JUST NOT GONNA HAPPEN THAT WAY |

I would guess that the Hall of Famer calls that shot. |

You're gonna have to stop with the All Caps. It's a Warpath no-no |

I appreciate your guidance. This is entirely new to me. I've been reading this site forever and just decided to join tonight.

Re: Jason Campbell: 2006 Season Starting QB?
The job is Brunell job to lose. Which Brunell will we see next year? A. The one the first year here? B. The one that played great during the season last year? or C. The one that played like you know what the last 4 games of the season? If a or c meet your new starting qb. I think Campbell is almost ready but if Brunell plays great dont rush him.

At this stage of his career, Joe Gibbs is a better manager than he is football coach. If he turned the offense over to Al Saunders (which is what he said he did)...then the final say on who plays the most important position on the offense is Saunders. |

Re: Jason Campbell: 2006 Season Starting QB?
is tafkas on a power trip?(j/k)no way campbell starts this season.i think coach gibbs and the boys think they are close to something special, and to hand the reigns over to what is essentially a rookie isnt going to work(at least this season)in washington.on a side note,i didnt know eubonics translated to the computer?

I found this too.
I predict if JC does not start the season as the starter..he will end it as starting QB. peace |
