Redskins About to Sign Carter
http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/9300482
The Redskins are at it again, and this makes the second defensive signing. Defensive end/outside linebacker Andre Carter is schedule to fly to Washington and sign his brand new six-year, approximately $30 million contract. (Strange that the article is date March 12 though, must be an oversight) |
Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
how do we have all this cap room to keep signing everyone to 6 year 30 mil deals? i read the article about how we could get 19 mil under the cap, but i haven't heard anything about anyone renogotiating or any other way to help us get a lot of cap space.
|
Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
Please let this be true.
|
Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
Yeah I am kinda confused, how are we doing all this?
|
Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
this is crazy
this would be the 4th person were giving $5 million/year contracts too when the most amount of money we were supposed to have was $18million i don't see how this is possible |
Yeah I am kinda confused, how are we doing all this?
If Dan Snyder were to tell you, he would have to kill you ;) .

yeah....fill us in. |
Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
I'm feeling like Snyder's trophy wife here. I don't want to know where the money is coming from, I hope it's legit, but as long the guy's keep signing I'm pleased as punch.
|
Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
Hold the wagons guys. Carter came and went last night (the 12th) without signing. I think the writer was just "pre-supposing" that Carter would sign the deal. Wait until he is smiling for the cameras at Redskin Park.

It just means that in the next couple of years, guys whose contracts are up will not be able to be retained. You know, the Fred Smoots, Antonio Pierces ... Snyder can certainly bring 'em in. It's keeping them that's the problem. Still, I think the signings we've seen are smart for the most part, and the front office is making the upgrades that this team desperately needed. My only problem with the moves we've made so far are losing the 3rd and 4th rounders for Brandon Lloyd. |
Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
If true, yes, this is spinning a little out of control. Where are all the dollars coming from? Are we going to release some more players?

Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
Redskins | Team to sign A. Carter
Mon, 13 Mar 2006 14:05:39 -0800 Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the Washington Redskins are in the process of signing free agent DE/LB Andre Carter (49ers) to a six-year, approximately $30 million contract. http://www.kffl.com/hotw/nfl I'm still a bit skeptical though since it was reported that he already spurned us. |

I was thinking the same thing but he also says it would make it the second defensive signing. Which I assume means after Archuleta and he didn't sign until this morning right? |

Chris Cooley. That's really the only name that pops in my head |

No, no. Like I said, I think we're doing the things we have to do. And yes, it seems that "cap hell" is never able to creep up on us. That's fine and dandy with me. |

I heard that a deal was in place but Carter said that meeting with Denver was something he "had to do".

scout.com also says we got carter |
Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
:biggthump
I'm smilin like a Cheshire Cat after this news. I was telling my brother all day I would be really happy if we could sign him or Abraham. This is the signing I was hoping for the whole time. Finally, after about a decade we have a legit pass rusher again! And he's young and locked up...money! |
Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
every year we don't have enough money and every year we sign people and every year people wonder how we do it but...
it happens every year without problem or fail as far as i can see. i can't remember who's the cap expert on the board but maybe some of those deals are just made to look bigger than they are... i doubt we'll be in any kind of trouble especially since the cap does raise every year. be glad danny will cash out... |
Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
According to the pundits...the same ones whose analysis we hate...the Skins are about to do another cannonball.
|
Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
Dan Snyder is a human cash machine. Yes, the sound of his eye-lids opening is "Cha-ching".
|
Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
Danny prints his own money--Snyder-bucks!
Danny buys everything on those credit cards he wanted all skins fans to use--at 0% interest and no late fees. He owns the god damn bank!!! Or something... Anywho, we don't know the details of these contracts--all we get is a total and maybe a bonus or guarantee. So we can't tell how they are loaded, when the big hits fall, etc. Danny and Co have been adept at finding new and clever ways to spread the money out over the life of deals, and then Gibbs is good at getting folks to restructure for the team. Once the dust settles, the Canuck will work it all out for us mortals! ;) |

I'd still bet OL. |

I guess I didn't realize the question was asking for immediate major contributors. |
Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
Cooley had 37 catches for 314 yards his rookie year, not sure where this 260 number is coming from.
Stats are only a google away folks. |
Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter
andre carter was 7th overall pick 5 years ago, out of california. he missed almost the whole year the year before last. last year was his first year as a OLB, in a 3-4 system. he has never played linebacker in a 4-3, he is a pass rusher from the DE position by trade. he only played OLB last year because he wasnt big enough to be a 3-4 DE.
