Lavar signs with Gmen?
I saw it coming a mile away.
Is it true? Can't wait to have him in Fed Ex next year. All the yays will turn to mega yays when he over compensates and lets lose cooley or portis or sellars or fauria for a td!!! Antonio Pierce will still be wondering why he got paid!? Redskins sweep Gmen this season. Let's hurry up abd get to training camp! |
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
time to move on.good luck to lavar but i can already see a clinton portis long touchdown run cutting back in the hole where lavar was supposed to be
|
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
I haven't seen anything official on this yet but NY appears to be the likely destination.

Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
I have to admit, some of the defensive moves that the giants are making have me a little on edge. They had a pretty good D last year, with their secondary being their only glaring weakness. Now they've picked up some decent cornerbacks to cover better while the rest of the team blitzes.
But at the same time, I'll take Llyod/Patten over a nickleback or OLB any day of the week! |
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
March 14, 2006 -- With no offer from the first two teams he visited, linebacker LaVar Arrington is preparing to make more trips as free agency rolls on and he searches for a new place to play.
Arrington stopped by Giants Stadium over the weekend and yesterday his agent, Carl Poston, said, "I don't know if the Giants thing is going to work out or not." The Giants often pounce on their targets when they like what they see, but they have taken a more deliberate approach with Arrington. Poston said Arrington enjoyed his visit with the Giants, adding "It's hard not to like New York." There are some interesting theories floating around regarding Arrington and the Giants. One involves a conflict of sorts between the front office, which is leaning toward trying to sign Arrington, and the coaching staff, which is not sure he will fit in with the defensive scheme. Arrington, who has spent all six of his NFL seasons with the Redskins, is a superb athlete, but tends to freelance on the field and that may have turned off the coaching staff. Arrington also may be at his best playing in a 3-4 defensive scheme, where an outside linebacker can find himself uncovered at the line of scrimmage. The Giants are a 4-3 team that relies on the pass-rushing skills of ends Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora. "It doesn't fit," said someone with knowledge of the situation.
Looks like Lavar may end up in Cleveland or elsewhere.. |
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
Could he end up back here?

No, that relationship is broken.. |
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
He is a great player and all, but he is too much of a individual for us.
|
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
thats correct joel.
even though we might have just signed another individual in lloyd, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. |
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
lindsey doesn't want him. GW wouldn't care, but he won't go against his position coaches' wishes.
|
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
LaVar is pretty much gone, but we have a chance to sign some of the players we had to cut.
|
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
the question is, do we want to? and the answer is no. we cut them for two reasons: cap space and the fact they played poorly.

which cuts would we want back? the ufas/rfas aren't cuts. |
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
I can't think of a single one. I mean we all KNOW about Harris and Raymer. That's WHY we cut them. :)

Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
The gmen better check their numbers - http://www.pennlive.com/weblogs/pas...es/2004_03.html
I posted this link previously in one of the many lavar threads, thought it was quite entertaining. Resign W. Harris if he's healthy. When he was he did a good job, he looked particularly good against dallas. At least he played while banged up tho he got burnt a few. |

I was soooo glad to see him gone. I remember watching the 1st round of the playoffs and PRAYING they wouldnt throw it Harris's way...hes a liability in my opinion. ps- yes, he did perform against dallas, but i think that rivalry could sike me up enough to perform well against dallas:dallas: |
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
harris is probably going to the 49ers.
burn. |
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
Funny how a playoff team knows to stay away from this guy...
|
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
again, I think he played well WHEN healthy. He had a hard time getting healthy, but so did Rogers & then springs was banged up late. I give Harris props for getting his career back w/the skins after surgery on both knees & then playing hurt last year.
He's a nickel back at best, which he did a great job for us in 2004. It was only when he started in 05 that he got beat consistently. |

The game at Dallas Harris looked money. I remember several good open field tackles (although he may have been on Glenn on the TD. Taylor bit on that one too.) That being said. It was a good move to drop him for 2 mill. |
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
"Arrington had a "very good" visit to the Giants over the weekend, according to someone who has spoken to the 27-year-old linebacker. His only other visit was to Miami. The Dolphins are in the hunt, a source said, because of Arrington's fondness for their linebackers coach, George Edwards, who was an assistant with the Redskins from 2002-04."

I hope he does. Low hanging fruit for Saunders exploiting Lavar's undisciplined approach. |
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
I wish him the best... of luck trying to run down randel el or moss. :P
|
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
poston said he wanted 16mill in guaranteed money, the giants laughed in his face.
we'll see how the talks go ;) |
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
If Arrington thinks he's gonna get a $16 million bonus, he's out of his skull. I like the guy, but that's just crazy. I thought he'd ask for and get something like $7-8 million.
|
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
16 mil? 16 freaking mil? That is nutso. Craziness I tell you. Arrington is an underachieving(in many fans eyes) freelancer with a penchant for huge plays both positively and negatively. On top of that he has a potentially bum knee. So he thinks a team will bring him in knowing they'll need to curb the free lancing and coral the aggressivness enough to eliminate that bad plays but promote more of the big plays? And hopefully he wont bang the knee up again? Wow. I bet he is lucky to get 8 mil and base salary up front.
|
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
to articulate, arrington didn't ask for a 16mill bonus, but his agents did.
they're the postons, remember? if you think drew is bad, these two are total-psycho. |
Re: Lavar signs with Gmen?
Bengals are pursuing Lavar (espn rumors) - listed on the NFL frontpage though.
