Is it me or do the Eagles have no talent?
 

So the team is 20 million under the cap. Well, here's why:

Trent Cole? Greg Richmond? Who are these guys? I'd like to call attention to the offensive line. If they don't resign Runyan, they will have 2 returning linemen from last year, with one who missed the whole year. I wouldn't expect anything from this team...they just seem outmatched by the rest of that division.

Actually, once last year I was telling a group of Eagle fans that they were gonna finish in last place because injuries were bound to catch up to them and they had no depth. All I got in response was a laundry list of able bodied scrubs. It's so true, they are in denial.

They were on top for a long time--it's hard to stay so up for so long. Our competition will be the Giants.

I think they're better than some people are giving them credit for. Two things can keep you in any game: an elite QB or a great defense, and at times they have both. They eagles draft well and i'm sure they'll bring in 3-4 new starters via the draft.

They definately have some holes right now though.

they don't have that great of a d anymore. Maybe if they get a FEW lbs and a couple people on the line and a couple DBs who aren't overrated.

Hey i'd love to have Trent Cole. He's like demetric evans, only cole had 5 sacks in 5 consecutive games last season.

They are pretty talented on defense. Don't forget about Barber and Howard. It will come down to their O-line. I hope Runyan leaves!

If McNabb is healthy, they will be above .500 this year. Don't know how good their D will play though. Also, the running game is still a question mark.

The Eagles will enter the season as easily the worst team in the East, but I think they are still dangerous. Maybe not the yearly contender they used to be, but with a healthy McNabb they'll be able to compete.

They still have major problems at WR and that will hold them back. And then there's the non-existent running game, both in terms of a 20+ carry a game back and a overall lack of committment by Reid to pounding the ball.

They have emphasized their line and defense in their free agent moves. Maybe they intend to invest cap dollars on the draft.

I am surprised the Eagles did not show more aggression landing a wide receiver. They put up no fight for Randle-El. Right now, Reggie Brown is their deep threat. ?!?

Philadelphia always believed they had the talent to win the division without TO, so maybe they intend to prove it. The entire East is tougher and it seems the Eagles are not doing enough to improve. Time will tell.

Don't ever count them out. Football isn't a game of individuals, it is about a team - how it gels and how these guys work together. The Eagles had one good year after five of dominance, so I'd be careful before discounting them anytime soon.

right i think coaching actually has a lot to do with it. you cant score points if you dont use your strengths.

true, but a lot of times it seemed last year that the skins played to the level of their opponents. we were supposed to get stomped by SD and we played right with them until overtime. same with the raiders. we were supposed to whoop that ass and lost to them at HOME.

TO (2004):
2 for 24, 1TD
6 for 46

2 of his worst 3 games were against us (and he left the other bad game early due to a BAD injury).

Reggie Brown (2005):
5 for 94, 1 TD
7 for 77, 2 TDs

I wouldn't knock brown so harshly, he had field days on us compared to TO.

In fact, 30% of his yardage and 75% of his TDs came in [b]2[/b] games versus us. (average yardage/game should be 6.25% of his yearly total, he had 5 times that)

I dont think you can say they dont have any talent, I think they have a good bit. Donovan, westbrook, (I forgot the damn TE name) plus they should have a pretty good pick for a WR. decent O line. Their strength is the D. Kearse, now darren howard, mcduggal in the middle. Trotter, now barber, dawkins. They are still talented. Dont ever rule out the eagles, Reid is a good coach. But I do think we will be mostly battling w/ Dallas and New York. Talent wise, us and G-Men stand alone in the division.

i also think that our offense is due for an explosion. if everyone gels and we stay healthy, the skins offense has the talent to be top 3, if not the top. we have more weapons than the colts and if brunell can just hit the open guy, no defense shoudl be able to plan for us.

we can't touch the colts with weapons. they have peyton and a better receiving corp.

i disagree. the QB is making a lot of those receivers look better than they are. harrison is still elite, but i feel that moss might be just a step under him. we have a better TE/hback, better RB, and two WRs that at the very least have the potential to at least COMBINE for more yardage than WAyne.

they have harrison who w/o a doubt is better than santana only because of his experience and his records. they have reggie wayne who should be a number 1 receiver somewhere and better than Lloyd, randle and patten, maybe even moss.they have stokley who is awsome and very accounted for by defenses and is reliable to make the big catch. then you have dallas clark who i think is about the same level of cooley but more experience.then you have PEYTON MANNING who is def better than brunell, campbell, collins, randle el, and anoyone else who think they can throw combined!but we do have a running back who is top 10 running back and they dont have one.
this isnt a knock on the skins but dont compare our offense to colts. if anything compare it to the rams or the cheifs of last yr but not the colts

I din't read anything in peter's colum about the eagles being the team to bet next year or anything like it it was mostly all about TO.

I think we can't count the Eagles out. I mean look at us last year. If you showed the Redskins starting lineup to an Eagles fan they would have been asking us questions like whos Joe Salvae, Lemar Marshall, Chris Clemons, Ryan Clark, Renaldo Wynn, Chris Cooley, Ladel Betts (in terms of kick returns), and Derrick Dockery.
We've also heard stuff like this since 2004
1. You overpaid for C. Griffin
2. Are you crazy trading Moss for Coles?
3. Has anyone on your D-Line been drafted before round 7?
4. So will Brunell throw it over 20 yards today?
5. So you traded a 2nd round pick next year for a 3rd round pick this year and drafted a TE that might have some upside?

The Redskins (and Gibbs throughout his career) have made a living on guys coming out of no where and the Eagles have done like wise. If sport champions have taught us anything lately (Argentina, Detroit Pistons, Japan, New England, Chicago White Sox) its that paper champs don't always win. You simpily can't point to a lineup anymore and say alright this is the team. Anyway sorry if I steered the thread off course.
