2005 Bone Head Plays

Since things have slowed downed for the off season for us, I thought it would be funny to reflect on some bad plays(its all good since we made the playoffs)...when they happened every Skins' fan was upset.

One that comes to mind was when Ryan Clark was stiffed armed into the dirt by LT and we lost the game on that run. I was listening to the game play by play on the internet and all of a sudden my fiance tells me the game is over...I almost drove off the road.lol.lol.

Antonio Brown's fumble on the kickoff to start the second half in the first Seahawks game. Week 3 I think. Lead directly to a TD and Brown getting kicked off the team.

I think that was the Bears game.

This happened in the Chicago game in week 1.

How about almost the entire Raiders game?!?!

Skinsfanmania 03-21-2006 01:29 PM

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

I'm thinking the holding penalty on Rabach in the Charger game that cost us 10 yards and most likely the game vs. the Chargers.

Also, the holding penalty on Novak's field goal that put us out of field goal range vs. the Broncos.

Both of these changed the outcome of a game and took away at least 1 homefield game and NFC East divisional champs.

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

John Hall's missed field goal in the playoffs v. Seahawks. That would have made our last drive a tying drive...

How about the shanked punt late in the Bucs playoff game by Frost that set them up with prime field position?

You guys are right, my bad, it was the Chicago game, because I remember thinking that we won, but it felt like we lost, because Gibbs made some drastic roster moves after that game, with the cutting of A. Brown and the demotion of Ramsey to the bench.

How about the offsides penalty on the PAT against the Bucs?

Monksdown 03-21-2006 03:10 PM

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

i'll give the bone head play there to the refs on the following Alstott run. Or even to the ref's on that play, where NFL network pointed out the center illegally drew Walt Harris(?) offsides.

Krills 03-21-2006 03:21 PM

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays
How about the offsides penalty on the PAT against the Bucs?
Harris and Springs were actually onsides that play. It was discussed on Comcast Sports Nite the next day. The center flinched with the ball. Should have been a game ending block. Man, we really got screwed that game. There were soooo many bad calls. The worst one being the force out called on Ryan Clark in the first half. The 50-yard or so reception set up the Bucs first touchdown...Bastards :(

it sucked but gibbs said it was a good play. my bone head plays are the 2 times, (on identical plays) that somebody named sheppard from the bucs got in the end-zone. If he came down with the ball in the playoffs then that would have torpedo our season.

scowan 03-21-2006 03:36 PM

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

I don't think we want this thread to turn into another REF Bashing thread. I am sure Texanskin, meant it to be a thread of "Bonehead" plays by Skins players, not bad calls by Refs. I think it is agreed that there were many bad Ref call this year.

Here is another Bonehead I thought of..... Brunell's fumble out of the endzone in the Rams game. It was a game we really needed at the begining of our 5 game streak and that play almost changed the momentum for good. Fortunately, the Rams were really bad that day with a 3rd string QB and there was no way we were going to lose that game. I will say it was very smart of Brunell to push the ball out of the endzone, but the fumble was a "Bonehead" that deep in your own end of the field.

the negativity in this thread is killing me. i choose to focus on the positive aspects of the season. Good day sir.

iI was there too. LOoked like he got "pwned" from my angle. When it happened I ran down about 4 rows then ran back up three and fell to my knees and people walked around me. :( I went back into a row and sat down for a few minutes. The band started playing hail to the redskins and some elderly man said hey you aren't suppossed to be playing that. He said it as a joke and looked at me. I could not move and just looked at him and his smile faded. :( I think that qualifies as a bone head play

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

This isn't by a Redskins but it happened during the Xmas game... Shockley whinning instead of making a tackle after he just gave up a pick for a TD.

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

Or how about the cowboys thinking that Jose "The Conquestador" Cortez could hit a FG over 20 yards, which cost helped us take the MNF game.

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

Matty said the punt by Frost in the playoffs...but how bout his punt in the original tampa game that actually did end up being a big cause of our loss.

How about Sean Taylor spitting in Pittman's face?

How about the couple of times last season, when Brunell took sacks on 4th and the game?

Texanskin 03-21-2006 04:44 PM

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

Brunell 4th and the game were extremelly embarrassing.lol.

Nobody has mentioned the infamous Rock fumble in Kansas City!!!!
I was talking trash to KC fans at a bar, and when that happened I comforted myself with a shot of crown.lol.lol.

Wasn't it Holdman that missed his assignment on a Priest Holmes screen pass resulting in a 50+ TD run?

724Skinsfan 03-21-2006 05:34 PM

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

And I think Lavar screwed up when Frank Gor ran a long one in for a TD. Of course, that day I couldn't get too upset. I was too busy looking at the 52 points up on the board!

only if by 50 yard TD screen pass you mean 60 yard TD screen pass :(

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

To much negative towards us, how about Roy Williams given up 2 bombs to Moss late in the game to hand us the victory. Sean Taylor would kick his ass to!

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

we are just having fun, along with our outstanding season we had a few scares and we are just having a laugh about it. People dont take it serious.lol.
How about Sean Taylor spitting in Pittman's face?
That wasn't boneheaded, Pittman probably said something to Sean in his high pitched, roided out voice that deserved him to get spit on. His testicles are probably as small as Lavars new contract will be.

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

How about Chris Cooley's second TD during the Dallas game? He "bone-headed" his through the Dallas secondary down the left side of the field. Does that count?

That Guy 03-21-2006 08:36 PM

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

how about cooley punking that giants DB during his 31 yard TD run or whatever it was ;)

moss totally destroyed a giants db (72 yard TD from ramsey) in the same game...

how about when antonio brown would get pounished and make other special teams look outstanding b/c he didnt know how to fair catch.? or how about when sellers punked that linebacker on the raiders even tho we later found out he had a hairline fractured rib? or how about wen carlos rogers dropped a pretty much easy pick to help us during the playoffs (either seahawks or tampa) and he coldnt hang on to the ball? or how about when robert royal dropped like 50 balls that one game and he was crying like a little bitch instead of making the catches.???? arite enough bashing haha

How about getting the ball back with 3 mins in that game, and not accomplishing anything.

What's funny about this is I was talking to my brother like last week and telling him that someone should spit in Pittman's face everyday for the domestic abuse situation a few years ago. However, Taylor getting tossed from the game could have ended up costing Washington that game, so it was a bone head play.

This was not a play but it was a bone head move...the alleged Sean Taylor spitting incident. This could have killed us, those SOBs started going down field and nearly stole another one.

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

Biggest boneheaded play for we was ST spitting at Pittman during the playoff game against the Bucs. If we had lost you bet your ass we would be talking about the incident for many years in the future.

Re: 2005 Bone Head Plays

that cowboys db was t newman. the biggest bonehead play by the skins was easily taylor spitting on pittman.

The pass hit him right in hands and that TD would have put us right in the game.
