Fri, 24 Mar 2006 13:12:27 -0800

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced the team has agreed to terms with free agent ORT Jon Runyan (Eagles) on a three-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

He's getting old but he's still a quality OL

Re: jon runyon

yea he has been healthy the last few years so he is pretty reliable, but unless Philly improves there running game their team isn't going to be much better than they were last year.

They won't make the playoffs as they stand.

Re: jon runyon

He is one of the dirty OL in the league...loves to pile on and hit people way after the play is over. Still and Eagle and still good, but this guy is dirty.

Runyan looks like Jason Fabani to me. To big white tackles on green teams. Most important post of the day right here.

Eagles | Runyan took less money to stay
Fri, 24 Mar 2006 18:01:25 -0800

Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports OT Jon Runyan accepted the Philadelphia Eagles three-year, $12.5 million contract to re-sign with the Eagles. The New York Jets were actually willing to pay Runyan double the money in the first year of the contract and millions more over the life of it. Runyan couldn't leave the Philadelphia market in which he felt so comfortable. The Jets tried very hard to get Runyan to sign, but in the end they could not get the deal closed.

looks like the eagles got a decent deal for him.

The Eagles always get a decent deal and I wouldn't write them off yet. Their D is going to be pretty good.

Re: jon runyon

grim, why do you think their d will be pretty good?

Pocket$ $traight 03-25-2006 12:08 PM

Re: jon runyon

Kearse 3 time Probowler
Trotter 4 time probowl
Dawkins 5 time probowler
Michael Lewis probowler
Darren Howard
Shawn Barber

They have a lot of playmakers. They have a great D coordinator and they are disciplined. Also, they are embarrassed. They were very tough when they had abslutely nothing to play for.

Popularity contest, popularity contest, popularity contest.

You think Larry Allen should have made the Pro Bowl this year too?

TheMalcolmConnection 03-25-2006 01:23 PM

Re: jon runyon

Not saying they won't be above averge, but I think that's all you can ask for with that group. McNabb will make them MUCH better, they just need more.

I guess 4 straight NFC Championship games were a popularity contest too.

Re: jon runyon

Apples to oranges. When a team plays well, people who are not necessarily deserving make the Pro Bowl. The Pro Bowl is always a crap shoot. People who are slighty above average make it.

dmek25 03-25-2006 05:23 PM

Re: jon runyon

kearse hasnt done squat for them ,trotter is highly over rated, shawn barber is a walking injury,but....dawkins and lewis are the real deal and old man jimmy johnson is a very good coordinator

If a team is playing well their players should make the probowl.

then what happened to the skins last season?

Re: jon runyon
then what happened to the skins last season?
More of their players should have made it the last two years but there is national distaste for them. That doesn't mean that all of Philly's probowlers were undeserving.
then what happened to the skins last season?
The skins really turned it on around the time of the pro bowl vote, bad luck for them!

BTW where does Cooley stand as far as the pro bowl is concerned? A FB or TE?

TheMalcolmConnection 03-26-2006 11:32 AM

Re: jon runyon

Hmmm. I thought he was listed as an FB. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

he was listed as a FB, but he should have been listed as a TE (if he was, he would have gone to hawaii when randy mcmicheal (i think) had to cancel... instead some NFC TE with crap stats got in. totally unfair).

Re: jon runyon

why couldnt someone in the nfl management team decide after the dropout to use cooley as a replacement?probably because alot of players have pro bowl bonus' tied into their contracts?

they go by votes and cooley' votes were at FB, not TE.
