Taylor with a Twist??
I'm sure many of you have already read the article on Sean Taylor's case being reviewed by the State. I really see this in Taylor's favor.
The article doesn't give any details about what exactly they are reviewing, but I was wondering where you guys potentially see this leading? |
Re: Taylor with a Twist??
Yeah, is this a good or bad thing?
|
Re: Taylor with a Twist??
I've been reading everything from plea bargin to another delay. I'm going with the former.
|
Re: Taylor with a Twist??
I'll bet the change is that they drop the gun charge. Purely speculation on my part here, but I'm guessing they don't have the evidence to show that he actually fired or pointed a gun at anybody. But they can probably still get him on simple assault or something. I think Malcolm's right, plea bargain is in the works here. I'll bet the sentence is community service and a fine. If any jail time (which I highly doubt) he'll be out in time for the season like Jamal Lewis was.
|
Re: Taylor with a Twist??
Here's my thinking: It's in his favor because I think the prosecutor has attempted to give him the max sentence. So all they want to do at this point is go to trial and prosecute based on the so called evidence.
Perhaps at this stage, they all looking at everything and determining if it's good to even proceed. |

Does that mean they would drop the fireamr charges and probably get him to plea guilty to simple assualt or something like that? As we probably all know by now, Florida has very strict anti-gun laws that carry mandatory minimum sentencing with them. I would love it if he was able to plea down to lesser charge and get away with probation and a fine/community service. I think the fact that the state allowed so many continuances indicates that they really don't have that strong of a case, but I'm not lawyer... |
Re: Taylor with a Twist??
this guy needs to be locked up he's a thug and a crimimal
only a matter of time before he goes OJ on someones azzzzz |

I think the fact that the state allowed so many continuances indicates that they really don't have that strong of a case, but I'm not lawyer...
I think this might be the most likely scenario (dropping the firearm charge and pleading down to simple assault.....or anything short of requiring jail time). In my opinion, the prosecution changing its stance in any way simply MUST be a good thing. They've already charged him with the highest level of felony they possibly can in this case. Any change in position almost has to be toward lowering the charges and/or reaching a plea agreement. This is, without question, the best news I have heard yet with regard to ST's case IMO. As for the continuances, they are more likely the product of ST seeking them than the prosecution. All individuals have a constitutional right to a speedy trial......so most of the time the continuance is requested by the defense (or at least agreed to by the defense.........otherwise, they can oppose the continuance on due process grounds). |

"You can just tell with guys like him." Sounds racist to me. |
Re: Taylor with a Twist??
Too bad he caught us in a transition........are there any mods left to kick him off? ;)
|
Re: Taylor with a Twist??
They "changed" the case when they seperated the assault charge into 3 seperate, which is purely a negotiating tactic. I hope a change would include more than consolidating back to 1.

Being from the South doesn't make you a racist......what the heck do you have against people from the south? There's no room for this type of prejudice on this site. |

Yeah a nice kick in the ass keeps things exciting. Now that the site is heading for it's untimely demise because of Matty's Warpath Ego maybe denim is in the running for modship? |
Re: Taylor with a Twist??
Matty is Denim. Or at least one of the Mods is. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
|
Re: Taylor with a Twist??
The mods just want us to see how needed they are by showing us a taste of anarchy.

That wouldn't be racism because he made no comment about or against your race. It would be acting prejudice if he assumed that you're a racist just because you're from the south. They're doing wonderful things with dictionaries these days. |
Re: Taylor with a Twist??
I think the prosecuter is upset that he didn't get the Espn 15 minutes of fame like he had hoped. And now he is taking the next step he knew he would have to take. Plea bargain.
Sorry brother, go get a Cowboy. |

Maybe they are looking to change it to misdemeanor stuff, so they can win the case, but he will serve a much much lighter sentence. And that's assuming they convict him, which still probably won't happen. |

I was arguing with a tool of a Bears fan. OJ may be a murderer, but he's not a criminal until he's been convicted of a crime. |

denim monger, that sounds strangely homosexual
