Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
RFK: 1991 Divisional Playoff game vs. Falcons. After administering a beat-down on the way to SuperBowl triumph- the fans threw the giveway seat cushions on the field. I guarantee I had the best view in the stadium- on the roof w/ the team's camera crew.

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
I've been to some great games fortunately, but seeing the Redskins give a total beatdown to the Cowboys with the playoffs on the line last year was especially sweet.

Yeah, that was my favorite game. That's one of the few times I've liked having Dallas fans around me. :D |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
ive been to 2 games, once in ramsey's rookie year where we lost to giants at home, mostly thanks to mccants fumbling at their 20 yard line...and this year i was at the home game vs 49ers where we scored most points in fed ex history! :)

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
My first game at FedEX was special. It was against NYG circa 2001. Pure utopia. I went to the restroom and pissed all over the place; even on the guy standing at the next urinal as we celebrated scoring a TD.

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
January 2, 2000 - Dolphins versus Redskins. 50 yard line, four rows up on the 'Skins side. Last regular season game for Dan Marino. Even though playoff spot was secured they still played great beating the Fins 21-10.

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
I am young, so my favorite was 2004, eagles at FedEX. We lost that game but it was my first football game, and TO was there so we were all talking shit to that bitch in the pregame warmups. It was a close game, I think it was the one which the Philly recievers were scared to go in the middle of the field. We also got into fights with the Philly fans, good times....

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
I have been going to home games since 1997 when FedEx opened. There have many memorable games since then. There was the opener in '97 when Michael westbrook made that amazing catch to beat the Cards and the playoff win versus the Lions in 1999 when Gus Ferotte made his return to FedEx as the Lions quarterback. But not one game has even come close to the excitement and energy of the home win versus Dallas this past year. The energy of the crowd brought chills and the stadium was loud from kickoff until the parking lot cleared. Even watching the video highlights of the game just makes me tingle of how special that win was.

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
id have to say the first skins game i ever went to, i was probably 8 years old (1994) and went with my dad to see em play at rfk, been a diehard skins fan since
|
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
By far my favorite game was the Cowboys this year. We were so loud, had great seats, and I just LOVED it!
Minnesota game year before last was great. When I traveled to Heinz field to watch the skins it was great too! |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
You know, one of the best (recent) experiences is when we beat the VaGiants last season at home. All those NY fans that came down for the game...what a long, crappy drive home. Nothing was better than when NY threw an interception that was intended for Shockey- Shockey just gave up on the play in his typical adolescent way. Ahhhhh... voiceless for 2 days after that one.

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
daseal, when were you at heinz field?i went 2 years ago and if the skins would have done anything offensively, they would have won.i think the score was 20-14.pittsburg fans are cool people though.
|
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
the best game i was at was the playoff game in 1999 when tre johnson got into that huge fight against the lions.plus, the skins blew them out
|
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
I have only been to the openers the past two years (and will go again this year)... but the first game that Joe Gibbs was back vs Tampa Bay was freaking awsome.
|
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
I would have to say RFK NFC Title game vs the Cowboys was the best one...in a close one to that was the home opener at FedEx vs the Cardinals with an OT victory.

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
jbc,the game which the score was 31-17 and daryl grant scored a touchdown?i wasnt ther but you could tell the place was jumping

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
I've been to several Skins games in my lifetime, and while they were all memorable in one sense or another, my favorite experience is me being 8 years old, sitting about 15 rows up in the middle of the end zone as the Skins rode the Bandwagon right to the Super Bowl.
November 15, 1987 Redskins - Lions. Friends of the family had season tickets for years, had gotten a few extra from their seat neighbors, and my Mom, sister (4 at the time) and I were the lucky ones to get to go. I was in awe the entire time, in my Theismann jersey and my Redskins jacket. That was the game where Doug Williams came in for an inept Jay Schroeder (which at the time was my hero), and eventually lead the team to a victory that day, as well as Super Bowl XXII. I don't remember much of that game on the whole, but do remember the 4th quarter, watching the entire stadium sway back and forth, up and down, how loud it was, and it being the coolest thing ever. As nice as it is to see a game at FedEx, nothing beats seeing the Skins play at RFK, late in the season, as they make a run for the playoffs. |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
Cowboys game this year. 99% of Cowboys fans left by halftime.

That is correct....the lower level actually was moving....it was the most intense atmosphere I had ever been around, including Super Bowl XVII. That place was electric and I can remember it like it was yesterday. |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
The very first game I ever went to was back in 97/98. It was a Dallas game, and we lost. I felt a little better after the game when I saw a loud mouthed Dallas fan try to jump levels on the ramps coming down from the 400s. As he jumped, he tripped and he landed head first onto the concrete. Normally, people don't deserve to get hurt, but this guy ran his mouth so much that I don't feel bad for enjoying it.
Also at this game, there were two women sitting in front of me who were obviously football idiots and knew nothing about their beloved Cowboys. There was another guy sitting in front of them (he actually didn't have a ticket to be there, he just kept jumping around the stadium) who got fed up with them and went into this 5 minute drunken tirade that made no sense except for at the end which concluded with '...f'n sissies'. It was so funny, and they shut up. |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
Dec. 31, 1993 RFK Stadium
The Vikings came to town and so did a ton of snow. My son Elijah was about 7 years old and loved to go to games with me but I knew this was going to be an extreamly cold weather game and not sure how long he would last. I dressed him warm and took a large canvas bag that carried a wool blanket, down parka and a few extra things. We got there and there was snow everywhere and it was brutal cold. I had to keep pulling stuff from the bag and putting them on Elijah and at one point he even got IN the bag with everything on him but refused to leave. Here he is with a positive "shaka" hand gesture. THAT is what memories are made of. Elajah turns 20 this month and still loves me and the Redskins! |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
I'll post my funniest game experience... I believe I was 13 and probably as rabid a Skins fan as I am now -- except without the season tickets. So my friends and I were insanely excited that we were ACTUALLY going to RFK to see a game; this was pretty much going to be the highlight of my 1993 (though for my mom's sake I'll say it was my Bar Mitzvah).
That day I went to see the Skins play the Jets and it was absolutely insanely bitter freezing tear the skin off your face cold. I sat in that cold and watched possibly the most awful boring football game of all time... a 3-0 game. Where the Skins lost. I am also not sure that we *actually* crossed the 50 yardline...and if Im exaggerating its not by much. The fact that the game didnt affect my love for the Skins one bit means I must really love em! Even though it was an awful game, I still think back on it fairly frequently and laugh... |

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
The game at FedEx against Carolina that ended our loosing steak and started our winning streak(I had season tickets that year)...I was dossing off and got back into it when I heard everyone screeming and saw Lavar sprinting down the sideline...I became a Lavar believer that day, I didn't know he was that fast.

Ditto, I was at that game!! Unreal!! There has never been at any time a Redskin game more memorable and intense than that one! It was a very cold day and you hardly noticed. Pure, non-stop adrenaline! The stadium shook, the Coyboys were crying....on the field and off, and Tom Landry was pissed!!! The Joe Gibbs era had officially begun! |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
At the Pittsburgh game I was at around the 35/45 yard line on the side far away from the ketchup bottles! I was about 15 rows back. Very good season, my friends Grandfather had been a season ticket holder since before the steel curtain.
At first, I got a lot of shit from the fans, but at the end we had a lot of good conversations. While many of the fans were ignorant they were nice. I didn't like Heinz Field, but Pittsburgh is a damn fun town. Cheap as all anything, and if you want a heart attack, get a Pimmanti Brothers sandwhich. They're famous for them. |

December 19, 1993 @ RFK against the Falcons.
Elijah and I saw Neon Dion Sanders play. We later learned to hate him. lol |

Best game of my life was the Dallas game last year. My son couldn't stop smiling for a month. By far the best game EVER! :) |

Meeting Brud at the Redskins-Jets opener.
How the f**k can he still be standing when he's that hammered. Incredible. |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
1.Dallas At Redskins 2005. I've never been to a game that was as loud or ever seen a crowd so happy...
2.Lions at Redskins playoffs 2000. I was in the endzone where Leslie Shepherd broke a tackle and sprinted into the endzone to basically end the game. The loudest game I had attended until the above game. I attended the game with my future wife and it's a treasured memory we both share. Most of the boyz we went with left the stands at halftime and got trashed at the bar. Then after the game we met the Hogettes! 3.Lions at Redskins 1995. Mr. Darrell Green picked off a pass in overtime on the 6 yard line and scored the winning TD. I was in the endzone and in the background of the TV shot of the players mobbing DG in the endzone. 4.Darrell Green's last game. Dec 29th, 2002. Awesome emotion from DG's pregame award ceremony to LaVar winning the game on a fumble recovery in the endzone. Thanks Darrell, for the memories... 5.1997 opening day of Jack Kent Cooke Stadium. I was in the last few rows of the upper deck in the corner, but it was the baptism on the stadium, we won in overtime and me and my best bud, Fetz, had the time of our lives, from what little I can recall... 6.The 2007 NFC Championship when the Redskins beat the (fill in the blank) for the NFC Championship on their way to winning Super Bowl XLI... |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
No question.
35-7. It was like a dream. Gibbs vs Parcells in 2005; Cowboys vs Redskins. 4pm. It was unlike any game I've ever seen or been to. Honestly I was just happy to see Joe Gibbs on the sideline at all in this millenium. We are truly lucky to be Redskins fans. Few coaches were as great, kind, honest, hardworking, intelligent and HOFers... Joe Gibbs is a one of a kind person and coach. I'd like to see all those Gibbs doubters talk now after they've seen what he can bring to the team, the fans and the community. Thanks to all those fans that were at that game as we watched the Cowboys fans leaving at the half 28-0. At one point it was 35-0!!! Fed Ex was changed forever. Gotta give props to Dan Snyder for somehow making the impossible happen. 35-7 completed sweep of the Cowboys and kept us ahead in the wildcard race. Perhaps one of the best days of my life. |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
Then there was the time when Elijah got to go watch us play Minnesota another time and had Dream Field seats.
Had a great time but there were these two guys in there early 20's that thought they knew it all about the Redskins. Who were them guys? lol |

lol They were great to hang out with and yes they were. Throw a rock at a pack of dogs and the one hit comes up yelping. FYI to others we wound up sitting next to cpayne and Daseal and had an awesome time and booed Moss as he walked off early. Remember that? |

I was there w/ my brother in law (wife's fam is from Pitt). Good game for us. Even the fans up there were respectful- said if we had anything resembling an offense that we should beat em. We had Bettis in check for 3 qts that day. |

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
I have been to 3 games all this year @FedEx
Bears, Chargers, and Cowboys. EASILY the cowboys game. I started first getting there early with one of my better friends that I really haven’t spent as much time with out of school and we will be going to different colleges next year so it was all good times on the way there. WE got there and we went to the player’s lot. I saw Christy, Cooley’s cheerleader buddy, and got some autographs from our fearless players. We went in and I was disappointed with the lack of we want Dallas chants (if you all remember I was just posting posts that said we want Dallas that whole week). The anticipation before the game was unreal. I didn't know if we would win or lose and we all knew it meant the season. Then... We kicked some Dallas ass. The game wasn't close, it wasn't a 'good' game, other fans of other teams must have thought it was boring, it won't be remembered for a last minute drive or a toss up at the end, but only for how bad we kicked their ass. It was amazing that I didn't feel the lead was ever big enough. I never felt bad and I just wanted more and more. It started with the BS late hit call on Marcus but it was a big hit and told Dallas that it was going to be a long night. It was 7-0 and I wanted a defensive stand, it moved to 14 then 21 and I wasn't satisfied. I wanted more and Cooley was on my fantasy team. We saw daniels put up his career performance and saw cooley put up the best half a h-back has ever played in NFL history. Marcus picked that ball off and took it back so far and led to the Cooley TD before the half. Regardless of the score it was the best experience ever. The you suck chants echoed back and forth atleast 3 times and it was deafening when we were on defense. The people around me were all entertaining. To my side there was two college girls, sisters and one was drunk out of her ever loving mind. Behind me was some really cool guy but he was a dallas fan and that made the night so much better just to hear him grunting the entire game and laughing at him. Later some old guy decided that he would have that drunk girl sit in his lap so there is this 22 year old cute blond sitting in some 60 year old's lap. Everyone was happy and I gave a few high fives to those infront of me and the girl next to us insisted on giving everyone hugs after ever TD. THe dallas fan was just sitting there upset at first but by the end he coudln't help but smile when I turned around bobbing around and laughing. It was a really entertaining section to say the least. Late in the game I got to move down and down as the seats cleared out. I ended sitting section 101 row 1 seat 1. I was feet behind the players and could hear them yelling. Ramsey was so excited and it was great to see. He was just running around hitting people and running away. I called out to Portis and waved my glove at him. I was telling him to give me his glove. He started to walk over and I was like he is going to throw these up. I started to box out. Arms out and my ass sticking out. I was going to catch these gloves. He walks over and HANDS them to the girl a few seats over. That was the worst part of the night but I didn’t go to the game expecting to come out with Portis’s gloves. Later a guard asked us if we were thirsty and I said sure and he gave us Gatorade right off the field. I don’t know if anything could wash that win down better. I didn’t go to the player lots after the game but I really didn’t need to. I just wanted to get back into the car and yell out my pride. That was the best game there ever was. |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
gotta be when i spent a bunch on tickets in the 15th row on the 50 yard line, got a ton a tailgating stuff, spent all day outside grillling in the fedex parking lot, got hammered and made signs and then watch the skins beat the crap outta the cowboys 35-7 last season. :)
