Lavar to the Giants?

I just heard on the radio (980 AM) that apparently Lavar is about to sign a 6 yr deal w/ the Giants.

Sorry fellas, I have no link or details on the contract. If anyone finds something related, please help me out and post it.

Did he come down on his asking price?

:vomit: LaVar is probably touching himself at the prospect of playing in the biggest media outlet in the world.

I think he fits in very well there. Unfortunately we will see him twice a year and he will have a huge chip on his shoulder which does not bode well for opposing teams.

That's assuming, of course, that his knee holds up and he actually plays in the games against us. I'm not sure that is a given...

The Giants are still in the hunt for linebacker LaVar Arrington, a three-time Pro Bowler with the Redskins. An Internet report said Arrington and the Giants were close to on a six-year deal.

If LaVar does sign with the Giants, I hope he signed a really big deal $$$$$. Eat up as much of their cap space as possible. Although I wish him well, I hope that he doesn't play well against us.

cause he might be a decent human being outside of football?

I'll wish him well as a person, but if he plays in the NFC East, his success is inversely linked to ours, so I won't wish him success on the field.

Seriously...why does everyone try to hate anyone who leaves Washington. Like wishing illness on their family or something? It is only football. It's a game. Washington wasn't going to use him so he went somewhere esle. It's all business, remember?

That's what everyone says when players get cut for salary cap reasons, but let them choose to leave and that makes them an @$$hole? That's ridiculous.

Yes, I agree. I think he could have chosen to play for another team outside the division if he really wanted the redskins to do well. And I don't buy that he wanted to come back to fedex field for the fans deal, I think he wants to tell everyone - I told you so.

But guess what, I think if he signs a much lesser contract then he expected - then the redskins have the right to say, I told you so, to him for what he thought he was worthy of. If he signs a big contract with the giants, then it's still good - more cap space eaten up hopefully for the length of the contract.

Football should be a fair competition. Even if LaVar is a good player, with all our new weapons, Gibbs and Saunders should find a way to neutralize him and the Giants' defense.

I hope the scoreboard when the skins play the giants is unfairly tilted in our favor.

I think the hating is due to the fact that some of the players that leave use it as a motivating factor at the expense of the redskins, whether they are playing them or not. I think motivation is a big part of winning, football or otherwise.

Man, this is exactly what I DIDNT want to happen. I was hoping he would go to Miami or somewhere else out of the NFC and we'd only have to see him once every 5 years.

With him and Pierce, thats two pissed off former Redskins with good knowledge of how the D schemes work. I dont like it one bit...

Guys, we have to all see the Giants as the team to beat this coming year. Their defense was already good and if they add Lavar, it will only get better. They scare me more than the Cowboys or the Eagles.

I think it will be okay. GW seemed to adjust well in the second giants game last year to counter Pierce's knowledge of his system. The key probably would be - not to become predictable in alignment and playcalling.

Re: Lavar to the Giants?

The hating is due to the fact that Lavar made a commitment to his team, and he let them down. Imagine all the fans that bought his jerseys and his merchandise, think how they feel. Lavar had two options according to Gibbs and he had a choice to remain with the team he said he would remain with. But he didnt, he chose to leave. He should have taken the pay cut and played for what he was worth. So he could actually enjoy being in a super bowl during his NFL tenure. But since his departure i dont see him ever getting the chance. He is just another selfish me-type guy who really disappointed alot of his fans. He was supposed to be Mr. Redskin. He was supposed to be on our team throughout his career; "Redskins 4 Life", he said. He was supposed to be alot of things. He definately wasn't supposed to be Mr. Giant.

He probably wasn't supposed to get benched either...I'm not getting into another LaVar debate.

And I wasn't only referring to LaVar, I meant a lot of other players who leave Washington, too

Coaches dont bench players. Players bench themselves. We dont know and probably never will know the whole story of what happened during those games he was benched.

Re: Lavar to the Giants?

We all new that he was going to the Giants. I hope he has a good time, and I hope he and Antonio Pierce have a good time on the field together. Like I said before I met Lavar once and he was a cool dude, however, when they play the Skins,...F-Him. F' him, Pierce, Manning, Coughlin, Barber, Shockey, Strahan, and everyone else in the New York Giants organization ! I'm waiting for the This is why I left interview. The "This is what makes the Giants better" interview. All of them, and when he does it I will laugh, like I do when they all leave with the same shtick. If they leave then I will not cheer for them against my favorite team. Now when Lavar comes back, AND HE WILL, I'll welcome him back. For now,.. Lavar (The Player) is the enemy. Now some may cheer when he gets a tackle against the Skins, I wont. I'll cheer every time he misses an assignment, blows coverage, takes a bad angle, or bites all playactions and bootlegs.

I wish Lavar was still a Redskin, but he isn't. He's gonna be a Giant so, I can't wait for the first game against the Giants to see he and A.P. take that long sad walk out of The Big Jack.

With all that said,...... HAIL !!!! F'n HAIL !!!!!

Re: Lavar to the Giants?

in addition to him playing for a division rival, there's another reason we don't need him to play really well: we don't want it to appear that the benching was purely personal as then some players will take his side. of course some will no matter what & never consider his injury recovery & lack of discipline in the scheme.
aside from that, I loved Lavar, wish he was here

I think Saunders making changes in the O Pierce will have less knowledge of our system and we do not have any evidence this is even true.

The first game was really emotional for the Giants, and it was a tough road game for us. That first long run of Tiki's seemed to take the wind out of our sails early, advantage Pierce. However, being two years removed the advantage shifts to GW, he of oh so many looks and blitzes.

I agree, the addition of Saunders negates any inside info Lavar and Pierce and any other ex-Skins may have had. I'd hate to see Pierce and Lavar together, it'd be like hearing your ex-girlfriend just married your high school nemesis

Actually I was referring to Pierce's knowledge of the skins defensive system and this knowledge helped the giants offense the first game. He has less knowledge about the redskins offense, even though he was able to get some looks and experience against it in practice - but it changed somewhat last year and yet again this year.

That really depends, some say its safer than grass while others say its not. And they have been tests done by both parties, and both prove their own point. Basically its not verified.

I'm trying to find a link to the LaVar signing with the Giants. Last report I saw was that talks were still at a standstill with LaVar and that the G-men were bringing in Chad Brown for discussions. Dosen't seem likely had they already signed LaVar would they still be looking for LB's.
