Does Campbell Have an Attitude Problem?
Something BSB wrote in the Super Happy Fun Thread made me not so super happy
Jason (Campbell) was a dick like usual. I don't know who jason thinks he is. After me and my other skin friend yelled out his name while only some other few were he didn't even look over. He just walked by. He always does that.
Have others of you encountered this? It just bothers me because the QB is an important representative for the Redskins in the community. Especially for kids. No matter the skill or success level everyone knows who the QB is. And we've been fortunate to have some really great guys playing behind center the last few years. Brunell, Ramsey, even Danny Wuerffel are all very friendly, personable people. I'm excited about the Jason Campbell era and to see what he can do on the field. But I don't want our QB to be a dick to the fans off the field. That's disappointing. Hopefully, Campbell will mature and be more accessible. |
Re: F....Campbell's Attitude
Perhaps he's still in an adjustment period to how much of a leader he is now that he's in the NFL. Hopefully he's not some dick who thinks he's above normal people. Maybe he doesn't like all the attention he's getting. He's probably not used to being recognized in public everywhere. He's gonna have to get used to it though, it happens to any nfl player, except unless they're a backup or a little known name. J.C. isn't that though.

Re: F....Campbell's Attitude
let me elaborate because i really didn't word that right. He came up the steps and I really did not expect him to be there because this was a "U" thing. I tapped my friend and said is that jason. Very few people of the maybe 100 people called out his name or clapped. He got the same reaction as Ed Reed did. I was like hey Jason when he walked RIGHT by me and he continued on with his slow walk(the kind when people shift there weight back and forth: sometimes reffered to as a pimp walk). He didn't look over at me or the other people calling his name. He didn't even react. Lavar came up with a huge grin and was waving and was giving people fives as he walked by and lavar shook my hand with a big slap as he walked by. I didn't expect Jason to sign anything but a hey or a wave or a hand shake would have been fine. He always just acts like an ass when I see him.
The first time I thought of JC this way was at a skins game outside of the players lot and he was walking in. I called out as usual and someone said don't bother he won't sign anyways. I was like that is fine because some players don't but the guy went on to say "i don't know who he thinks he is"(i stole that quote up top). Some older fan turned around listening in to our conversation and said yeah all of the rookies signed when they first came here, from lavar to sean but Jason has this thing about him. He was saying Jason hasn't done anything yet and is acting like some big star. Ever since then i have keyed in more whenever I have seen him. |
Re: F....Campbell's Attitude
don't really like hearing that :(
|
Re: F....Campbell's Attitude
Maybe its just his attitude. I would say that its hard to refer anyone to Arrington. He has ALWAYS been into signing autographs and giving fans high fives and such. Hes alwyas been around for things like that. Maybe JC is just like that. Who knows tho. Did anyone go to training camp last year?
|
Re: F....Campbell's Attitude
Has he done any interviews with the local sports guys/gals? If so, how did he come across there? I haven't seen him anywhere on the networks and usually Comcast is pretty good about accessing the players and giving "behind the scenes" looks at the rising stars.

Re: F....Campbell's Attitude
i can understand if he is an introverted kind of person but I don't think it is that big of a deal to stick out your hand while walking by and saying hello. Really I don't see why he wouldn't just walk out and sign some autographs. Even if it was just to a few people and if it was just to the little kids. there are 150 redskin fans who came out and he can't sign a couple autographs?? I mean i wish lavar had but he isn't a skin anymore and I have seen him sign autograph after autograph before. Whatever, maybe someday he will step it up with the fans.
Look at what moss and portis do. They sign very few autographs at games but they do these charity events for the city and are great. I really like that. I think this was for the "three kings of washington" charity. Well one king would be CP, another Santana, and lastly Taylor who just seems like he doesn't do anything either. I have seen taylor sign autographs before and have gotten close to getting one. I guess he wan't able to come this time but really I was upset when he didn't show up at Montgomery mall during the season when he was slated to come. Oh well, by and large we have great characters on the team and everyone is willing to sign for the fans. Marcus and Cooley don't stop till everyone gets an autograph. |
Re: F....Campbell's Attitude
I can understand not signing autographs. Some players don't like to because a.) they're then just sold anyway or b.) sometimes there isn't enough time to sign for everyone so they just don't sign for anybody, they figure people are less offended this way.
My only thing is he should offer some sort of acknowledgement to the fans-a smile, a wave, a "hey, what's up". And it's just because, as I said before, previous QBs regardless of whether you thought they sucked or not you can't deny they were great with the community and with the fans and it kind of gives you a sense of pride that such a good guy is out there leading your favorite team. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather an a**hole with major talent winning games for us then some great samaritan losing week after week. But the point is I'm looking forward to JC being a leader on this team and a valued public figure in this town in the next couple years. So I hope that this aspect of him improves Plus, anyone who messes with the Bauer messes with TAF! |

Re: F....Campbell's Attitude
1. redskins
68 up, 35 down The best team in the NFL "dude, did you see the redskins fucking kill the cowboys last night 2. Cowboys 25 up, 21 down A collection of losers all bundeled together into a football team. A football team whose members were picked up from the local prison. Proof that the President of the United States should never come from Texas. A good year is when the Cowboys don't make it to the playoffs or are knocked out during the playoffs. |

Re: F....Campbell's Attitude
1. That Guy
64 up, 11 down The person everyone loves to hate and never wants to become. You're driving and get stuck in the middle of the intersection just as the light turns red. Now, because of you no one can get by. You have now become "That Guy". 2. that guy 50 up, 18 down 1. (n.) The guy who wears the t-shirt of their own band. 2. (n.) The guy who wears the shirt of the band that he has come to the show to see. 3. (n.) The guy who buys a shirt at a show and puts it on over whatever shirt they were previously wearing. Dude, don't be that guy. 3. that guy 25 up, 11 down 1. A male at a wedding or social gathering who is oblivious that he is making an ass of himself and embarassing everyone who knows him. Dwayne was "that guy" at the wedding. He hit on 3 bridesmaids and vomited in the planter outside. 4. that guy 20 up, 8 down The guy who goes to a high school party after he's graduated high school. i can't believe "blank" showed up didn't he graduate like 4 years ago 5. That Guy 34 up, 25 down Anonymous co-worker in your organisation. Possibly frozen in time from the 1980s and the toast of Wall Street. He’ll be ready to sleaze his way to the top, 80s style! He knows about business and has a tie. Also went to a lot of coke parties. The secret to his success is all about appearances. Outside of the office he goes back to the farm, shifts some paradigms and revolutionises outside the box. Liked the Safety Dance and died from Boneitis. “Who shall we pick to be our new CEO?” “I nominate That Guy!” 6. That Guy 4 up, 2 down THAT GUY is the person who comes to your party gets completely wasted, passes out, pisses, and pukes all over themselves and your carpet; wakes up before anyone else and leaves without cleaning it up. no example needed to explain this scenerio of THAT GUY tags wasted pukes pisses carpet leaves 7. That Guy 4 up, 2 down A person in the background that draw attention from the main subject Look at "that guy" in the background of this picture grabbing his balls tags jerk ass dick son of a bitch 8. that guy Someone who's always calling a girl, or IM-ing her, or running into her at a bar. He always flirts with her -- and even thinks he has a shot -- even though she's made it perfectly clear that she's not interested. Not as malicious as a stalker, just annoying. Ugh, that guy called me AGAIN. tags loser doofus jerk annoying dork 9. That Guy 2 up, 2 down drinks too many jack & waters, takes his shirt off in the club & feels up his best friend's girlfriend before vomiting on her shoes wakes up hung over on floor of his bathroom. looks in the mirror & sees a black eye & vomit on his shirt. realizes he may have been 'That Guy' tags that idiot drunk moron 10. That Guy 2 up, 3 down The guy driving down the road with his arm out of the window, holding a mattress to the top of his car. "You don't wanna be that guy." I've never felt so popular, look at all those votes for me. |
Re: F....Campbell's Attitude
Jason was very cool to a friend of mine and signed multiple items and was friendly and talkative.
Get off the Skin bashing because one didn't sign "your" item. Hey, let's talk chit about him in one thread about how he's not our next QB and then bash him in another for not acting like the starting QB and leader of the team. whatever |
Re: F....Campbell's Attitude
I think that JCampbell is just a very shy person. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt for a few years.

I'm thinking the same thing, he just seems like a quiet guy who's probably still adjusting to life in the NFL. |
Re: F....Campbell's Attitude
Maybe he just went through 8 hours of playbook study and is like a deer in headlights?

If he did that he would come off as a bigger dick than if he just kept walking. You know, some players don't care or don't know how to play politics with the fans. LaVar was the biggest fan friendly guy and look what the Skins did with him. Anywho, if he doesn't want to sign your whatever take it personally and don't buy the f'ers jersey; or move on and ask the player behind him for an autograph. |

Yesterday I didn't expect him to sign anything when he was walking up. Its not like anyon even had a pen. Its most definately not that he didn't sign "my" autograph. Like I said it is that he never does anything and i don't mean for him to stop run up and down the lane giving fives but moreso when 15 people are calling you and are standing 5 feet from you you could just maybe slow down and say hey guys or just pull up that hand just enough to slap someone else's.- For the record there are 150 people, i don't expect him to sign everyone and some people like shawn springs just sign for little kids. Its not that he didn't sign "MY" shit. Like I said, ever sinse those people at the parking lot at fedex said that he was a dick I have possibley been less fair to him. They didn't just say don't try for him he won't sign, and like I also said I don't mind that because some don't, they went on talking about how much he thinks of himself and so on. They went on for a good 2 minutes about how others never acted like jason and they seemed, to me, to know what they were talking about. I have seen jason just 4 times before yesterday so if a few others who clearly have done the whole autograph thing for years said that he was stuck up and shit I would take their word for it. If I saw that yesterday from any other player I wouldn't have thought the same thing but it is a constant thing from Jason. I DO key in more after I was told he was always acting like that. Its natural, I'm sure all of you will think back to this atleast somewhat when you see Jason and if he gives everyone the cold sholder you would think it is a common occurance. To be COMPLETELY fair to him, yesterday after meeting a gaurd upfront he looked over at a girl who was jumping up and downand did a head nod kind of thing. Otherwise, at a game I saw him sign someone who was standing in the parking lot(everyone signs for all the people who are actually in the parking lot. If you get into the players lot they will all sign your shit) and once he was walking in with carlos rogers and people were calling for our rookies and CR told Jason to sign a few autographs on the other end while he signed some on the end I was at. This has nothing to do with autographs. I don't think TAF started this thread because JC doesn't sign autographs. I would rather talk to a player for 1 minute than get an autograph. You can autographs and still be a dick. I just might think more of it when jason does it ever since those people said that jason was this way. |
Re: Does Campbell Have an Attitude Problem?
I changed the thread title so those of you who think BSB and I are "Skin bashing" and complaining he didn't sign an autograph get it right.
All I was trying to say with this thread is that it bothered me to read that BSB has had multiple unpleasant experiences with Jason Campbell. And I was curious if others had the same. |

Re: Does Campbell Have an Attitude Problem?
If its somthing that happens alot, then maybe there is somthing too it. I'm sure everyone has a bad day, and if it only happened the one time, I'll give him the benifit of the doubt. Theres time when I dont like to be bothered by people either.
If it becomes a continuing thing, then maybe there is somthign too it. |
Re: Does Campbell Have an Attitude Problem?
JC could be trying to keep a low profile so as not to stir anything up with Brunnel. Plus he's a young guy from a small town in the big city, cut him some slack. If everything works out as planned he will be the leader of this team for the next ten years.
