Good grief, Charlie Brown!!! |
Re: Warrick Holdman
im kind of glad because holdman cant possibly be as bad as he played last season.
|
Re: Warrick Holdman
Well Maybe he will be better in the 06. Learned the system better
|
Re: Warrick Holdman
Grrrrrrrrrrr. [so angry, unable to respond in actual words]
|
Re: Warrick Holdman
Holdman had some bad games lat year early in the season but it seemed he played much better in the second half of the season. It woul be nice if he could repeat his 2001 season with 143 tackles and 3 forced fumbles and to have numbers like that you have to have talent.
|
Re: Warrick Holdman
He's our weakest link on D last year. Hopefully, last year was his off year. We'll see and hope he returns to his form of 2001.
|
Re: Warrick Holdman
jacobs is just as bad as he played last season... maybe we can trade holdman for kwame brown... and a bag of fritos...
|
Re: Warrick Holdman
i don't know how to put this in words. The remaning free agent linebacker crop must really suck if they had to resign him.

Actually, if we ended up with only the Fritos it would be a steal! |

That's his only good year though. It was probably just a fluke. |

He didn't play the second half of the season. Dont you remember him bitching and crying about not playing, and refused to talk to the media once he got benched. this dude use to be pretty good LB, and when we signed him I thought is was a good move. But he just doesn't seem to have the desire, the drive. He was getting 1 tackle or two per game. Playing weakside LB you have to be more involved. I say we go w/ Clemons or McCume. Holdman is going to bitch and moan if he doesn't play and create problems amongst our LB core. |
Re: Warrick Holdman
I look at this as good news as long as he's cheap, which I imagine he is. Lindsey said he thought HOldman underachieved last year but is capable of playing better. This is just insurance, if clemons can't win the job & a rookie isn't ready (or mccune) yet, we'll play holdman on running downs. OUr d was solid when he started, & it can be again.
I'm still dreaming that lavar will fire the postons & make peace w/danny while resigning w/us, but there's not good odds of that happenin. |
Re: Warrick Holdman
Does this mean we should expect a Lloyd extension, or do we wait until after draft, or even after July 1st. I think Holdman was the last remaining RFA or UFA we needed to sign.
|
Re: Warrick Holdman
this is a good signing believe it or not. we get a veteran who knows the system who certainly has the talent to be great still, he just needs to play up to it and im glad we are giving him another shot
|
Re: Warrick Holdman
I'm willing to bet the contract is at the vet minimum, or close, for a guy who knows the system. He's not the answer, IMO, but a bit of depth and experience. And who knows? Maybe he'll step it up.
The real hope is that one of the younger guys steps up in camp. |
Re: Warrick Holdman
One bad year and everyone writes him off... sounds familiar.

what about those people who wrote jacobs off after a year? OR raymer after 2004? Are you going to contest those guys too? |

Jacobs is entering his 4th year, Raymer is a long-time vet. Different circumstances, Jacobs hasn't done jack, Raymer had a pretty decent career but is obviously falling off. I'm looking at the entire body of work here. Holdman has had a pretty solid career up until last year. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and say last year was more of a fluke than anything. |
Re: Warrick Holdman
I almost think he can't possibly be any worse than how he played last year, so there must be room for improvement. Either way, I hope he's not what the coaches think is "the answer" at weakside OLB.
|
Re: Warrick Holdman
last year we didnt see warrick holdman really screw up, his name was never mentioned. he just never made plays...was kinda just there and our defense was fine...
|
Re: Warrick Holdman
Yeah, we didn't see him miss tackles, just not be where he was supposed to be filling holes.
|
Re: Warrick Holdman
He is a good backup who may be able to improve to a starting level with the one year experience in the system. I am happy with the signing.
|
Re: Warrick Holdman
I'm willing to give him another chance, because I won't lie I definitely gave up on Daniels.
|
Re: Warrick Holdman
Malcolm you were'nt the only one who gave up on him.
|
Re: Warrick Holdman
holdman is as whack.

i hate how everyone thinks he had a good year b/c of the sacks he racked up at the end, when they were on rookie tackles with no experience in dallas.....he had 4. but i have to say after that he was on a roll........renaldo wynn is a different story |
Re: Warrick Holdman
ive been on the daniels bandwagon the whole time. you certainly cant say he was bad. he was 3rd int he league in batted passes and was GREAT in run support. he might not have had a huge sack year, but he WAS a force in the passing game and had numerous pressures that dont go into the statbook.

Several tipped balls lead to ints which some may have won the game for us. I think it was the Tampa playoff game it seemed as our D line tipped every other pass.

Re: Warrick Holdman
Still, I believe Clemons will win the SLB job.
What ever happened to the trash can? Price tag too high? |
Re: Warrick Holdman
I think this definately says were drafting a Cornerback. Holdman will hold his own. He won the Chicago game for us last year. he tipped the pass that Marshall intercepted when the bears were in field goal range. Just a positive, something we all should focus on.

I think we have a bunch of positions we are looking at, corner being one. Safety is a possibility if the coaching staff fears Taylor might be convicted. Of course, I'm beating a dead horse by saying that. My guess at the current moment is still LB. |

Aren't we pretty deep at LB now. i could see us drafting one on the 2nd day but not with our 2nd rounder now. who knows anything could happen. |

I 2 believe clemons will win the other starting spot on the weakside so I guess this isn't too bad as a backup signing, but last year it was just really weird to never hear his name last year in correlation to both good or bad play. I still wouldn't be suprised to see a mid round pick go towards an olb on another lb project for GW and company. |

I'd be really surprised to see this...cause we traded away all of our mid-round picks! :laughing- |

Be careful. we could easily throw away our 2nd rounder away on some mid round picks. You never know what could happen. Its an enigma within itself...lol |

So you are saying that we could throw away our second round pick for some third round picks? Humm picks in round three... I would question that... I would Question 3...:food-smil |
Re: Warrick Holdman
daniels batted down so many passes he was very good last year, he was also a great leader and locker room guy
