Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Carolina Panthers restricted free agent CB Ricky Manning Jr. was arrested shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, April 23, in Los Angeles and charged with assault with a deadly weapon after a melee at a Denny's restaurant left a patron unconscious. He was bailed out of jail, and Los Angeles Police Department detective Robert Lewis said late Sunday that a court date has not been set. According to Lewis, Manning was in a group that attacked a man in the restaurant after teasing him for working on a laptop computer. The group fled the restaurant, but the car Manning was in was pulled over by officers just blocks from the scene in Westwood Village near the campus of UCLA, where he played in college. Manning Jr. recently signed an offer sheet with the Chicago Bears.

DAMN. When will people learn, you just don't eat at denny's.

If I'm Carolina, there is no way in hell I match this offer now.

Thanks for the free pick Chicago, good luck with him in 3-5.

Re: Panthers | Police and courts: R. Manning Jr.

Coming from UCLA, you can understand why he would be intimidated by a man who is capable of using a laptop.

I bet other teams' messageboards are making similar comments about Sean Taylor.

Gentlemen lets give a round of applause to our friend Manning Jr. I like the celebration idea, get a big contract, then knock a random dude out. I wonder how many people he is going to knock out next contract deal he gets. Laptops have actually caused a string of violence in the NFL. Its a little known fact that the guys that stole Taylor's ATV, also owned laptops, we can clearly see the connection. Laptops are now treated like headgear, you cant go out in public without be ridiculed.

Dude, you PARTY at Denny's and then give a HUGE tip. You gotta' recognize! Nothing says "I just got a multi-million dollar contract" like a Grand Slam breakfast baby!

It's hard to resist the eat-free-on-your-birthday promotion at Denny's. What the hell was the fool doing there at any time?

Really sucks for Chicago because that 3rd rounder aint coming back, and now they have to spend a top two rounder on a CB.

Do you really think he will go to jail over this? The victim is probably working on his civil suit as we type.

Carolina loses depth at a key position. Another reason why they won't win the NFC.

What the hell is an NFL player doing beating up a below avergae Joe? What was he thinking? He beats up a nerd then next you know hes more feared than Ray Lewis? Show us on the field. Not at Denny's

I'm Gay Rome I.I..I mean Jim Rome and this is what I'm burning on.

what sucks is he probably should go to jail (since he's done this before) but he won't. hopefully the guy with the laptop gets financial security out of this.

I can believe NO part of that! I think it is illegal (except in Arkansas) to use the word "delicious" with "Denny's".

Sorry to you Arkansan's who were unaware of this
