Biggest threats in the NFC
What teams are the biggest threats to the Skins in the NFC. Here are a few possiblilities.
Panthers- solid on both sides of the ball, have added some good players to their defense. Falcons- Abraham is added to an already very solid D-line. But can they stop the ball. Can Vick complete a pass downfield? Giants- solid on both side of the ball. How far along is Eli? Do they have a secondary? Seahawks- Great offense, under-rated defense. How much with Hutchinson's loss hurt the running game. Is their defense championship callibur. I personally fear the pathers the most. |
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
Seahawks. Their weapons on offense are disgusting and they still have the best o-lineman in football. They made some decent defensive pickups too. I think the Panthers continue to be overated. Especially after they were humiliated by the Seahawks when it mattered.
|
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
1. Bears-Great D may add a great O this year. Easiest schedule in the entire league.
2. Panthers-Many weapons on both sides of the ball. Have the potential to pull a road upset in the playoffs. 3. Cowboys-Biggest threat within the division. Must win at least one of the two games to be division champs. |
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
im still not ready to count out philly,as much as i would like to.not worried about atlanta until they shore up a porous defense.dallas has too many question marks on their o line.hutchinson leaving seattle is huge, and im still not sold on hassleback.carolina might be the biggest threat with their good defense and solid running game.until eli manning proves something, the giants will never be able to take the biggest step
|
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
philly, dallas, and the giants... these are the game s that matter the most and we have to come out as division champs and try to win home field advantage
|
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
1. Panthers-If they get a consistent running game their offense has the potential to be explosive. Defensively they are as tough as they come.
2. Giants-They have a brutal first 2 months (Indy, @ Philly, @ Seattle, Washington, @Atlanta, @ Dallas, Tampa) but if they survive that stretch they could be competitve in the end. They could easily be 2-5 and be done or 5-2 with a relatively easy remaining schedule. Lots of talent but probably as many question marks. 3. Seahawks-Even off of the Super Bowl appearance they still aren't elite to me. Solid on both sides of the ball but with everything going perfectly last season they still didn't impress. 4. Buccaneers-A full season with Simms could be a really good thing. Defense probably has one more dominating season in it before they will have to rebuild it. |
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
I think the Rams could really suprise a lot of people this year. But like diehard says the biggest threats are in our own division
|
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
Theres always the usual rival teams that play us tough but the team that is definately gonna be gunnin for us is Tampa. Their gonna have a top three defense and they have the weapons to succeed on offense. this is almost a rival outside the division.

I agree, these are six division games, no other games are more important than winning in your own division and the NFC East is shaping up once again to be the toughest division in the NFL. |
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
I agree with that of those who say to fear our own division. I'm not perticularly concerned about any of the other teams in the conference until the playoffs come around. I'm confident we can take out Atlanta/Carolina both at home, but again, inside the division is going to make or break our season. If we can have success within the division like we did last year, we'll be a-ok. If we go back to 03/04' form inside the divsion, its going to be a long year.

Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
tafkas, why do you think the rams?
|
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
new coaching staff, with a commitment to the running game will make the rams a contender but that d is horrible
|
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
The Seahawks had some key losses on their O-Line and at WR in the offseason. They'll still be good, but not as good as last year.
In the NFC, I think the Panthers, Bears, Bucs and Giants will be the toughest competitors for us. |
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
tafkas, why do you think the rams?
I think Marc Bulger is a more than serviceable QB. Stephen Jackson is a stud in the making, if he's not already. Faulk is on the downslope of his career but he can stil give you a little something. I think Isaac Bruce will have a bounceback year and when talking about the best receivers in the game I probably wouldn't go top 5 without mentioning Holt. The key offensively of course is for Bulger to stay healthy. But now with Frerotte, they at least have a veteran backup and don't have to turn to Fitzpatrick. Defensively, they added a run stopper in La'Roi Glover, a playmaking linebacker in Will Witherspoon. Plus I like them adding Corey Chavous to be the leader in that secondary. And I think Haslett was a good choice for defensive coordinator. I can see 10-6 and a wild card for the Rams |
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
I honestly think we are the biggest threats to ourselves. If we can stay healthy, I believe we win the division hands down.
|
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
steelers... colts... NFC east... broncos are always a top team, but never seem to be the best. seahawks if they sign law. JP and law would counterbalance losing hutch.
|
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
I think the NY Giants will be toughest D to handle this year and the Panthers O will give our D their biggest headache this year. But other than that I think the colts will have the best O we will face this year hands down.

That's the case every year for us! :D |

You really think the Panthers O? All they really have it Steve Smith. I still don't count Keyshawn as part of an offense. |
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
After a long grueling evaluation and assessment of the NFC teams, and after hours and hours evaluating their Ds & Os, assessing their talent levels, looking at last year's statistics, taking their pulse, temperature, vitals, collective 40 times, total bench presses, wonderlic scores, cap problems, FO interfereance, and adding in FAs and prospective NFL Draftees and such, I've come to the penultimate decision that the biggest threat is us! If we can convince ourselves to impose our will on our weekly opponent, then, I see no reason that the B&G cannot breeze through the 2006-2007 season, on the way to either an 11-5, or 12-4 record and a PO berth, possibly homefield advantage throughout the POs.

They do have a system like Denver's where they can plug in any RB and be effective. Rod Smart, Brad Hoover, Stephen Davis, DeShaun Foster, Eric Shelton, Nick Goings...doesn't matter. They all have 100 yard/game potential with the Panthers. They couldn't run that well with most other teams. |

Well i would say dallas but they lost Larry Allen, and I would say the Giants, but they really didnt do anything to improve their offense. I guess maybe the falcons, with Musgrave aiming to improve Ron Mexico. That will be a fun game to watch. |

anybody know where stephen davis went??

That's best for him. He used to be a great RB, but he can't do it any more. I wouldn't want to see him go out in embarrassment because he can't hold onto to the ball or take a hit any more. |

Didnt you think we would have been a Gibbs type back, you know like power runner inside kinda guy. He just got injured every year. I hated seeing him go, he would have been great if we wasnt sooo injury prone. |

I think the skins are the biggest threat in the NFC. I am not convinced that other teams take us seriously
|
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
Well I have to say our Division with the signing of LA the giants front 7 look pretty scarry right now, I don't see 1 team in our division that doesn't has Playoff potential.
Hey even the Eagles who in paper are the worst team in the division could be a division winner in another like the central and those are 6 games for both our schedulles who ever survives those games goes to the playoffs. |

A couple of weeks ago the Eagles apparently had some interest, and I think the Raiders too. But haven't heard anything since |
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
the eagles could still make a deal for javon walker... which would definately make them scarier.

Ya but i think Denver has the ball in their court. |

Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
walker coming off a major knee injury doesnt really scare anyone
|
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
I think people underestimate the eagles D and mcnabb is still a good QB. we'll see though.

Scarier, but not scary. :) |
Re: Biggest threats in the NFC
I believe our biggest threats year in and year out come from our division. We went out and signed two good receivers and the Giants signed two to three corners and safeties. And now a pretty decent LB. Cowboys upgraded at a position that enables them to be more explosive on offense and the Eagles, well Donovan, westbrook, and now a better defensive line with a pretty good 2nd level defense. I live in Charlotte, and the Panthers are way over rated. They benefited from a pretty light schedule and played a Falcons team that just gave up last year. The only other team that may be good out of our division, Falcons, Rams, Cards may be pretty decent w/ Edge and those receivers. But our threats are in the NFC east. Take care of business in our division, and everything else will fall into place.

Very true...there won't be three East teams in the playoffs, we need to win to ensure a playoff birth. We can't play and HOPE for a wild card, although a WC will likely be from our division, as usual. |
