Undrafted free Agents
Seeing as how the draft is winding down...who are the guys still left that you would like to see the skins go after as undrafted free agents???
|
Re: Undrafted free Agents

Martin Nance (bill) FB: Matt Bernstein (lions) C: Pat Ross (seahawk) OG: Adam Stenavich (panther) ... Troy Reddick (backup only, not a good run blocker) ... Rob Smith OT: Derek Morris ... Seppo Evwaraye (panther) ... Donald Penn (viking) ... Ryan Gibbons (needs serious weight room work, great at the 2nd level though) (jaguar) DE: Brandon Guillory ... Mike Kudla (steeler) LB: kai parham (cowboy) ... freddie roach (patriot) ... Community College...Rated the best linebacker and third-best overall prospect in the junior college ranks by Rivals.com...Started every game at strong-side outside linebacker, but also saw action in the middle...Led the junior college ranks with 161 tackles (112 solos) and 43 stops for losses of 133 yards...Registered 8.5 sacks for minus 57 yards...Had two interceptions for 45 yards in returns and a touchdown...Also deflected one pass...Caused four fumbles and blocked five punts, returning three for 81 yards in returns (27.0 avg)...Also gained 306 yards on eleven kickoff returns (27.8 avg) with a long of 78 yards. i know his competition sucked hard, but he might be worth a waiver. |
Re: Undrafted free Agents
Charles Gordon, CB, Kansas and Anwar Phillips, CB, Penn State are two of my top 100 guys who slipped all the way through. If we need CB help, sign one of these guys. Gordon can be the Shawn Springs replacement, he's that athletic. Phillips has a low ceiling, but could be the nickel for years to come.
The Tight Ends were drafted bare, so if we are unsatisfied there, we may have to look around the league. |
Re: Undrafted free Agents
day, parham, byrum, ross, torp, and threat are the first guys i'd look at.

Re: Undrafted free Agents
i'd like to look at a cornerback, i still think that's an area of need.
|
Re: Undrafted free Agents
Kudla is a guy we should get. He's undersized, but has the strength and explosiveness to stay at DE in our scheme.
|
Re: Undrafted free Agents
Good work, guys. THanks.
Kudus to That Guy for quick and excellent draft coverage! Way to go, man.:food-smil |
Re: Undrafted free Agents
some corners and vick, just to put some more people in the seats
|
Re: Undrafted free Agents
we sell out every game...
Also, Greg Lee made it through I think. I don't particularly like him, but he was supposed to get drafted... |
Re: Undrafted free Agents
Greg Threat is a good player. He led the Canes in tackles with 136 two years ago. He started a few games as a freshmen, spent time in the secondary with Taylor.
He didnt start last year though becuase of our freshmen kenny phillips, whose quote on quote a combination of the best aspects of taylor and reed put into one. Being second to a him doesnt mean he wouldnt have started for most teams. We dont need a safety, but hes someone to keep an eye on. |
Re: Undrafted free Agents
ron russel ar. st linebacker 5'11 236 4.58
|
Re: Undrafted free Agents
Wisconsin FB is on That Guy's list and I pray we get him. I've seen a lot of the guy and while he's not very versatile or fast, he's a great lead blocker. Wisconsin has had a great running game despite a lack of a strong passing attack. I've seen Bernstein level so many guys and make space for Brian Calhoun where none was available that I'd love to see him back up Sellers.
|
Re: Undrafted free Agents
I thought Nemo was backing up Sellers these days.

For now, but we'll likely bring in competition for camp. Matt Bernstein would be a great place to start. |

Re: Undrafted free Agents
damn, torp was the guy to get (since koch and plack were gone).
our punting situation will blow all year... next year 2 punters (guy i forget with the #1 active ncaa punting average and daniel speivioulasdioasdiuoasdgfsg) and 3 GOOD kickers will come out (1 round 2 type and 2 round 3-4 types). this year gostkowski was the only legit kicker comign out and only 3-4 punters (weatherford might be okay) were even worth looking at as UDFAs. |

Re: Undrafted free Agents
Has anyone signed Gerald Riggs Jr?
|
Re: Undrafted free Agents
there are some good DBs left, byrum and threat would be great. we need a #4 safety and curry burns and doughty just aren't starters. threat could be. parham and one of the DEs worth be worthwhile too, as well as bringing in weatherford (P) for SOME competition.
I like the WR i listed, good fodder and they'd add real height in the red zone if they ever develop (PS material though). bernstein and pat ross are also quality guys to place on the PS, and a couple of the other LBs for camp competition would be nice. tim day would be decent is one of the best players and could start on teams with bad TEs, but here he'd basically be a downgrade from robert johnson (less experience, worse blocker) with slightly more upside. |
Re: Undrafted free Agents
Has anyone signed Gerald Riggs Jr?
no, but the vikings are owning the UDFAs (signed 12 including): charles gordon (CB) hank baskett (WR) john torp (P) donald penn (OT) the last 2 are one's i wanted. for WR baskett is good, but nance and quillen have a lot more upside. |
Re: Undrafted free Agents
jaguars signed brian iwuh and ryan gibbons.
they're owning my list... how soon till the redskin signings show up? |
Re: Undrafted free Agents

Sun, 30 Apr 2006 19:48:29 -0700 Tom James, of the Tribune Star, reports the New Orleans Saints have signed undrafted rookie free agent P Steve Weatherford (Illinois). all decent punters are gone. |
Re: Undrafted free Agents

Re: Undrafted free Agents

|
Re: Undrafted free Agents
Vikings | Blue could switch to linebacker
Sun, 30 Apr 2006 20:18:52 -0700 ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Minnesota Vikings may move rookie S Greg Blue, a big hitter with little range, to outside linebacker. interesting... |

Re: Undrafted free Agents
What about him? Who signed him?
still an UDFA for now |
Re: Undrafted free Agents
should we really go after martin nance? i think our wide receiver core is pretty solid as it is. and plus we are gonna have to cut one or two. Right now we have moss, lloyd, randle el, patten, thrash, and jacobs. We are gonna have to cut either thrash or jacobs, or possibly both.

we'll keep 5 or 6 for sure. last year we went in with 4 and it was a diaster. plus UDFAs can be practice squad for 2 years, and last year we kept 2 WRs there almost the entire year. |
