Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
If anyone hasn't seen Sean Taylor's interview on Redskins.com, you should. He seems like a much nicer guy off the field than the press, and his reputation on the field as a fierce bad-ass, would have you believe. He doesn't seem like the typical-thug that people have made him out to be.
|
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
No he is not a thug. he is probably one of the nicest guy on the team. he knows how to carry himself on the field except for last year's awful act.
|
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
Yeah, he definitely seems like a nice guy. But sometimes he lets his emotions control himself, i.e. the spitting incident, as well as pulling a gun on two guys who he thought stole his atv's.
|
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
Nice guy, very hard worker, decent intentions, good teammate. Just made a few questionable decisions (spitting, hanging out with thug friends, chasing down guys who stole his ATVs).
There are people in the world who are just rotten eggs, like TO. But then there are lots of people in the world who have good intentions but make bad decisions. They're called dumbasses. But they usually improve with age. Maturity will eventually take over and he'll be a good role model some day. |
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
I had the pleasure of meeting Sean before the Tampa game last year and he was a GREAT guy. I really think he has turned a new leaf off the feild and has realized the error of his ways.
No doubt he's made some big mistakes off the feild and really didnt seem like a very approachable/nice guy. But he was great, he actually came up to ME to introduce himself which was incredible. Real nice guy, and just a BEAST on the feild. |
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
see, if he did pull out a gun he is a dumbass. Not that he can't change but if he did that he is a dumbass and just like all the bad character players we see. It is surprising that he can go from being a great guy to Gman right before tampa and then, in that very game, spit on someone.
I really don't think he pulled a gun though so that changes everything but if I found out somehow that he did I would consider him a dumb idiot. Taylor is a good guy to the fans though. At the baltimore scrimmage he was signing autographs during the game for the fans. He took my ball from me but didn't get a chance to sign it because some coach was yelling at him. THere is a picture of my hand reaching over in the washington post and him signing other people's stuff. YOu can't see anything but my hand though. |

It seems more logical that he would have more time to talk to fans if he wasn't getting ready to play. |
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
^^ yeah, your probably right but again it doesn't make sense that he can change and be all nice in the middle of the season and then spit on someone at the end. I am just saying that isn't showing change. I don't think taylor is all that bad of a person, he does charity stuff with CP and moss... well sometimes. He was going to sign autographs with them right before Philly 1 and then didn't show up because he got stuck in traffic which doesn't make sense because CP and moss showed up together so why wouldn't he.
I hope Taylor fixes up his act because regardless of what we think the league thinks he is a common thug and there is no reason for them not to. He has been introuble with the law twice and has been on trial for felonies and has clearly spit once on a player and was accused of it another time. He has skipped out on workouts and ignored Gibbs' phone calls and refused to speak to the media for a long, long time. I think it will take years before he erases the image he has made for himself and it may never be erased. He spit on someone on a primetime playoff game, that will never change. He can't get away from that and no one is going to forget that he was charged with a felony for waving a gun. The fact that he pointed a gun at someone is not as big of a deal as to why he had a gun in the first place. He has to do things with the media, just like this one to fix his image. |
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
As has been noted, the key is he allegedly pulled a gun ... Jackie Chyles anyone.
|
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
The press talks about his other off-the-field problems consisting of skipping a rookie symposium, bad socks, and a bogus DWI charge. I think a great many of us have been forced to attend symposiums and skipped out on some lame speaker to chat with friends and/or network. Bad socks, well that wasn't smart or admirable, but we're talking socks here. Finally, the DWI charge was dismissed.
Just because he might have a long list of supposed screw-ups doesn't necessarily mean he's a bad guy, especially when the gravity of those screw-ups isn't particularly significant. He could be dumbass, but I can't say he is one even after looking at his long list of "transgressions." |
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
But i think it is pretty clear that those that are not redskin fans and have followed sean will just pass judgement that he is a bad character guy. I still don't think the whole gun thing in miami makes sense from all the information that I have seen. The order at which things supposedly happened and the fact they are asked for Taylor's friend to testify against him for a get out of jail free card plus the delays and problems with the court it just doesn't seem like he did it.

Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
Definitely a must see video for anyone who doesn't know the real Sean Taylor. Good guy, team player, hard worker, etc. He is among the most feared Safeties ever to play in the NFL and he's only going into season 3! The court case will be dismissed because of so many things. #1 those dudes did steal his ATV and have stolen other ones. #2 prosecutor and judge have been replaced. #3 Sean Taylor is innocent!
I can't wait to see him on the field come September with the rest of the 2k6 Superbowl 41 Champions! I'm calling it now! #21 in Pro Bowl and none of us will care cause we'll be SB champions come FEB!!! |
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
i want taylor to be the meanest sob ever,on the field.as far as off the field,as long as he is law abiding,i dont give a rats ass how he behaves.thru interviews and other seems like a decent guy
|
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
Granted some of his behavior as well as his decisions have been less than admirable but he is still a very young man, he therefore has the time and opportunity to get his sometime questionable character on track. I surely hope for his sake, as well as the team that he has learned from his mistakes because that's the key. When I was his age I made some unwise choices too but I soon learned, and that is my hope for Sean.

I agree I do not want him to lose that "thug" attitude that he plays with, it strikes fear into opposing WR coming anywhere near him. When the play is called and that WR knows that he is going to be in Mr. Taylors area I am sure he is already thinking, dont throw me the ball, or dont leave me open to a hit from Mr. Taylor. Remember the hit on Porter in the Raider game... I am sure the next time Porter goes against us he will pay attention to where Taylor is for sure.. |
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
I have repeatedly asked Redskins.com to transcribe videos, and put them in print for those of us who do not have video capability.
LDS, being the big communications guy he is, should have this resolved by now! I'd rather read it, anyway. That way I can go back and re-read whatever I missed quickly. |
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
Part of the reason as fans, and the Redskins choose and were excited about Taylor is because he was a character guy. Son of a police chief, from all accounts one of the nicest individuals you'll meet. It seems he has an internal "good guy" "devestating asshole" switch which he turns on for games. I think we need that enforcer attitude, and like Greg Williams, I'd rather have that intensity and the penelties than no penelties w/o the intensity.
Either way, I love Taylor and he seems totally down to Earth. |
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
As long as he's not pulling guns on ME, he's A-OK in my book.
|
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
Before I even start I'll admit I'll probably be thrown into boiling oil for saying this...
I'm kinda surprised by some of the responses here. People who called him a "nice guy but made bad decisions". But we look at players of other teams, who we don't know as well, and base our judgements on "bad decisions" that they have made. I'll go ahead and throw out the example of Marcus Vick. Now, I'm not saying he is a Saint, heck I'll even say he is a thug. But I think if he were on our team, most of you all would probably be defending him for his actions and just saying he is "a mislead individual"(which he may be). Now, before I'm branded a traitor and bashed out of this forum, I wanna say that I love the Redskins and I like Sean Taylor....but he did do what he did, and if I were some of y'all I would be wary of defending him. |
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
Not really. Or at least I wouldn't. I definitely was pissed at Sean for the spitting thing, just as I would be pissed at Marcus for the stomping thing. Only problem is, Vick without even HAVING an NFL career has been in far more "proven" trouble than Sean has.

Lol, maybe we'll have the same avatar.....course with oil prices the way they are....maybe I'll be spared for an alternative fuel! |

I only have the avatar because I refuse to change mine from the April Fool's Day joke. :)

Just stay away from his ATVs. |

Plus I'll stick up for Sean Taylor, for the same reason I'll root against Lavar Arrington - the jerseys that they wear. |
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
Anyone who isn't at least willing to acknowledge that he's made some poor choices is definitely being a biased homer. He definitely has done some dumb things in his young career, hence the label of dumbass.
But being a dumbass is not such a big deal, so long as he manages to mature and make the right decisions. He can still be plenty intimidating on the field and make good decisions off of it. I think it will just take some time, he's still just what, 24 years old? |
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
I think in the end, no one is as bad as they seem and no one is as good as they seem.
That being said, strap on your helmet bitches, I'm ready for some football!! |

I always wanted to ask: what exactly is a homer ? |
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
Someone who, without logic or reason, believes his favorite team, player or STD is better than the others just because HE or SHE likes them.

Wouldn't that be just a fan ? |
Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
No, it's called being irrational. I'm a firm believer in the "Any Given Sunday" mantra that is passed around the NFL, but last year could a 49ers fan SERIOUSLY say their team was better than anyone except maybe the Texans?
I'm not sure if you're kidding or not, but there's my answer. :) |

Now THAT is the truth.

Re: Anyone See Sean Taylor's Interview on Redskins.com?
It's an interesting issue actually. Can you be a rational fanatic? Almost oxymoronic, since fanaticism is defined as "excessive, irrational zeal."
Oh crap, now I sound like Huddle. Forget it. You're both right. |

Yup, there are people like that - but you can feel free to bash them here if you want because obviously they wouldn't be here reading it. |

Excellent point. To all you non-Warpathers out there: You Suck! Hmmm, in hindsight it's just not as fun as arguing with Giantone or D'BOYZ. |

Okay just save it until they log back on. But I agree, it's fun to argue with them - especially with homefield advantage. I have to give them some respect though because they have some cajones to just log into this site and start a discussion. |
