neo-geo and 3do cost a lot more in relative terms... of course, both failed miserably. looks like the release games are going to be a bit dinky since mosts devs haven't gotten kits yet (so they can't optimize the games for the cell processor, and consequently, they'll play crappier and look worse then they should).

It's interesting to see that the Xbox and Nintendo are almost teaming up, Microsoft is telling consumers to buy a Xbox and a Nintendo Wii for the same price of one PS3.

The new Wii controller is making a lot of heads turn, should be interesting to see how well it integrates with games.

positional controllers have been around since 1987 or so for game consoles, but the tech's just never been good enough to overcome the burden before. Devs already understand the concepts of the Wii controller far better than things like the DS stylus or whatnot, so i think, even at launch, they'll already have games using it fairly well.

By the time it is 250 xBox will be about to come out with their newest xbox version for 3-400 bucks. Sony is screwing this one up. They are going to sell these pretty good I think but they are potentially sacrificing their long term fan base by missing the price point. People dont want to spend 600 bucks only to have to replace it in 3 years.

F the XBox 360 and anyone who tries to F around with PS in general. Microsoft aint got nothing in consel gaming. Seriously beside a FEW good Xbox only games, the only reason to ever get that POS is for Halo. The only game that gives Xbox some credibility. Otherwise the majority of the same games can be found on the PS systems, and PS3 as well. Sony has deals with many exculsive series, and they pretty much dominate Xbox is all fields(maybe not shooter-halo), and esp RPG, Xbox has nothing whatsoever . Plus Sony isnt retarded like Xbox; in such a rush for an early start, Bill Gates and Comp, released a system with many gliches, and problems, just to try to get a jump on competition. Werent PS2 and XBox like 300-400 when they first came out? Whatever if Sony can sell their product that high, let them, that just means the system is gonna be amazing. Eventually prices will fall down, and PS3 will be a good buy.

A word of wisdom, never ever buy the system when it first comes out, wait for a couple weeks or months, and see if there are glitches. If not then good, but alot of times the first version of the system may have problems. And usually the first games that are released on the date of the system release are not really that good. You must have patience and wait.

I'm sorry but when a company is putting out a system before the developers are comfortable putting out anything for it like sony is doing, I would call that a bit retarded. The defective 360's were also blown out of whack as so far they've had less than 3% of their launch systems be defective. and higher price does not equal higher quality. I think the PS3 will probably be the best system in about 2 years but that will not happen until the devopers fully know how to use the cell processor and it's thread structure to fully use the systems power. Until then some developers will more than likely cut some corners and simpilify the programs of their games to meet their deadlines. I'll be happy with my Wii and 360 and will get a PS3 in about 2 years when they have a bunch of games out and the price is significantly lower than what equates to 2 car payments for me for just the system alone.

xbox has a lot of good exclusive titles, they have xbox live (which is the whole point of getting one since its WAY better than what sony or nintendo have).

as far as rpgs, i believe FF online is coming to xbox, and oblivion is supposed to work on it too.

Why shell out $600 for an inferior system (processing speed) when you can get the faster system cheaper. Sony has crap first partywise, and Microsoft is slowly winning over 3rd party franchises. It's only a matter of time until Sony can offer nothing over any other system.

GTA4 is going to be xbox, and MS got FF onboard for at least one game (both are obviously major franchises), and they'll still be the only one with gears of war, halo, etc etc, so i'd agree with gtripp.

yeah FF XI is out already and SquareEnix is bringing an exlcusive 360 game out next year along with the trio of games coming from the team of Mistwalker who has a lot of former square employees including the director of Chrono Trigger and FF VII or atleast I think that's what his position was. it will be interesting to see how GTA4 launching for both systems on the same day will go down cuz that's been a huge help to ps2 sales as they got GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas 9 monthes or more earlier than the X-box did. and u r right live is absolutely awesome how well it's put together and it's awesome getting free downloadable trailers and demos every so often.
like I said before both systems will be pretty darn nice, but from the get go the PS3 is not worth it's price when compared to its competetion. I know I'll have a PS3 when god of war 3 and kingdom hearts 3 come out, but thats 2-3 years down the line and until then I'll be having plenty of fun with my 360 and my downloaded classic nes games on my wii.

wait, i thought GTA was exclusive to the Playstation. Did they start a contract with Xbox360 or something? The only reason i wanted a PS3 was because it could play madden and gta, if that's not the case, i might buy an xbox360.

The X360 will have GTA 4 in October of next year. You will be able to play Madden, GTA4, Halo 3 and the new killer app called Gears of War which comes out in November.

In regards to Sony - they still own the console market at this point but M$oft is making great strides in taking market share launching a year early and with an incredible online service that will NOT be matched by Sony. I am no fanboy by any means but I can tell you that M$oft and the X360 will own this generation of console gaming before its all said and done.

yeah, at E3 they announced GTA4 for xbox 360, among other things... no one was expecting it, but just revealing the GTA logo at the MS presser made the place go nuts.

Buy a good video card, a decent processor, and a shitload of ram and have the best gaming machine you can get. PC games are so much better, in general than Consoles. There are only very certain types of games that play better on consoles. Racing games, and sports games. But, if you buy a controller for the comp it's exactly the same. You can even skip a monitor and set it up to go through your TV if size is an issue.

i tend to agree, but games like mario galaxy and uper smash brothers brawl won't be on a pc, and even if they were, probably wouldn't play as well with the special controller etups and whatnot.

Sports games can play well on your PC now that M$oft has developed their wireless controller to connect to a PC via USB. PC's are great, but you want good online gaming fun, the xbox is where its at.

the sega games I want r Shining Force 1&2, Shining in the Darkness, Altered Beast, Killer Instinct, Landstalker, Sonic, X-Men, and Aladdin among others.

u'll start to see more of that now with the costs of some games being developed going up to around $25 million a piece because exclusive games just won't be cost effective anymore and exclusive games will be predominantly those made by Sony or Microsoft themselves.

i couldnt be happier with my 360. also having a windows media center pc makes the 360 that much better. being able to play all my music and movies off my comp and watch them on the tv is so awesome. i'll definetly wait on the ps3 for a bit, but definetly will be getting a Wii. the new zelda, smash bros, and the roms makes it all worth it.
