Football mags predictions
Notes: Preseason mags pick Panthers to win Super Bowl
Panthers are the early favorite to win it all, in the East no surprise the Cryboys are everyone's darling to win the division. Only one mag picks the Skins. Re: Football mags predictions
I have only heard of Pro football weekly on that list. They picked us to win the division too. I disagree with their indi call.
|
Re: Football mags predictions
The Sporting News really thinks Pitt can repeat? Did they also think the ravens would repeat a few years ago?
|
Re: Football mags predictions
Surprise, surprise.
|
Re: Football mags predictions
I'd rather be underestimated.

Re: Football mags predictions
What I find interesting is that every division except for the nfc BEAST is really easy to call. I mean, there is no variation in picks for any of those divisions by any of the mags.
NFC North: I think Bears are going to win this clearly. Maybe the vikings might give them a run for their money but it really belongs to the bears West: Seahawks, maybe arizona but come'on its arizona South: Carolina but Tampa is not to far behind. AFC North: SB champs, steelers. Bengals will be good though South: Indi, i don't see anything that will push jax over them West: Really great division but the cheifs are going to fall. Broncos are going to be everyone's favorite. Chargers can be great but the broncos are really good. North: Who else but Gods gift to man, the dynasty themselves and belichick. All have a clear favorite and most just have a close second but no one is picking those seconds. The NFC east is the most diverse and competitive division in the league. We are the light in the NFL. We are what they should promote. BEAST. |
Re: Football mags predictions
I say the Fins knock off the Pats in the AFC.
|
Re: Football mags predictions
The Dolphins aren't my trendy favorite, I just think they will be that much improved and the Patriots will be that much worse.
|
Re: Football mags predictions
I just wanna watch football. The skins are gonna have a bumpy ride, but the D will carry us through. NFC Championship game at least.
Seahawks,Cowboys,Bears...........doesn't matter. At least we are in the hunt. |
Re: Football mags predictions
I have this feeling that if we play the Panthers in the NFC Championship game, we'd make the Super Bowl. I really am worried about the Seahawks.
|
Re: Football mags predictions
I want to go to the Lindy's office and party with those guys. Philadelphia? Outrageous!
|
Re: Football mags predictions
How many years now have the media been all over Carolina's jock?!?!? Every one of them here has the Panthers in the Super Bowl. Seems like a conspiracy.
|
Re: Football mags predictions
Whoever Lindy's is...
Eagles? If they ever had any credibility, they just lost it. The Eagles are the only team in the NFC East who won't have a shot at the playoffs, let alone a division title. They must be from Philly... |
Re: Football mags predictions
These are probably the biggest 5 in the biz for sports mags.

Re: Football mags predictions
Picks are fun and all to make, but I think every magazine on that list will admit that anything can happen in the NFL. Everybody likes to argue over picks fervently, but in the back of our minds we all know that in the end we have no clue what's going to happen.

Re: Football mags predictions
The Eagles winning the NFC East? You've got to be kidding...
|
Re: Football mags predictions
the eagles have a chance, jeremy bloom is going to be the next picabo street!

Re: Football mags predictions
All I want to know is how many times any of these magazines have been right on their SB picks in June and July? I would imagine not any. Some of them may have picked the Seahawks last year, but I KNOW none of them picked the Steelers last year. If they can't pick'em then I am glad the Skins are NOT picked, because that would be a good sign. It's fun to buy those magazines in June and July, because there is nothing else going on in the football world, but by September or October, who really remembers or cares what they think, even if they ALL picked the Skins, You don't win the Superbowl in the media in June, you win on the field in January or Feb.

Didn't Theisman pick the steelers to beat the Skins in the Super Bowl last year for ESPN the mag? |
Re: Football mags predictions
The Panthers in the Super Bowl in ALL Of those????
I mean I think they are a solid team....but common. They have no running back, I love their defensive line, but I think their secondary is a little vulnerable too. I think they are a good, but they just seem to be everyones "defult" pick for the Super Bowl. |
Re: Football mags predictions
I think DeAngelo is going to blow up though. He would have been my number one pick for RB in this year's draft.
|
Re: Football mags predictions
I don't have a problem with the Panthers pick for a Superbowl contender. They have a solid QB, picked up Keyshawn to help take some of the presure off Steve Smith, as Malcom said their RB situation could be a pleasant suprise, defense is pretty solid all the way around and their coaching seems to be solid as well. I have not looked at their schedule, but N.O. twice, Atlanta twice, and Tampa twice is tough, but not as tough as the NFC East.
The Skins get them in Week 12, which could be a big matchup at that point in the season. |
Re: Football mags predictions
Just go back to their 2005 predictions and you'll see why it's such a pointless exercise.

Re: Football mags predictions
the picks I found the craziest were Philly & Pitt repeating.
Pittsburgh will have a tough time winning their division this year. They're going to lose to each team in the division. And don't forget about the ravens, they are going to be a sleeper team if Mcnair stays healthy. I actually see Balt. & Cincy battling it out for that division, which may be a tougher one than we can tell at this point. For some reason I think Pitt. will have hard luck this year, maybe because they already have. I hope more people pick the boys to win the division. the more we can be an underdog the better. Carolina is a quality team but doesn't something seem missing? I don't know what it is but it seems they just lack the personality & look of a champion. Denver is back w/Javon Walker. It should be them & Indy in the Afc championship. Top 2 teams in the nfc? that's anybody's guess at this point. |
Re: Football mags predictions
The Sporting News really thinks Pitt can repeat? Did they also think the ravens would repeat a few years ago?
I don't think its to far fetched to Pick pitt. If Ben can play at the level that he has sense he became a starter there will be a good chance that Pitt can make a strong fun for another SB. I did get a laugh at the Eagles pick but who knows what can happen this year. I just have one of the best feelings that I have had about the Skins in a long time.

Re: Football mags predictions
i dont see the steelers repeating, either. everything went almost perfect for them last year and the odds on that happening again are probably next to zero. let dallas be the trendy pick because last year arizona and minnesota were the hot picks and we all know how that ended up

Bingo , at least let's start the pre-season first . |
Re: Football mags predictions
We always say this but it bears repeating, they need something to write about just like we need something to talk about.
There's nothing wrong with predicting, it doesn't mean jack, except maybe to gamblers. |

Seems like many are predicting the Ravens to make some noise because of Steve McNair. Even when he was healthy, the Titans didn't do much after that Super Bowl appearance. It won't be long before it's confirmed that Steve McNair is done. Unless he's secretly found the fountain of youth and has one hell of a medicine man, Baltimore will quickly be back to square one with their dreadful quarterback dilemma. I agree with you about Pittsburgh and Denver though. |

I agree with you about Pittsburgh and Denver though.
McNair won the MVP award after the super bowl year and his teams made some playoff runs. I hate to say it but b'more could have been decent last year if they had at least a usable QB. The thing that is probably going to kill them is the fact that their o-line is getting old and injured so McNair will probably end up being literally ripped in half before the season ends. Personally, I think Cinnci wins that divison, pitt misses the playoffs by about 1 game/a tie breaker, and we beat Denver in the Super Bowl once again causing Shannahan to grimace so fiercely that his face actually sucks in on its self like a blackhole. |
Re: Football mags predictions
Pittsburgh, Indy, Denver to make the SB in the AFC?
Only one of those teams will win their division. |
