B Lloyd - I'm starting to like this guy

The following quote is from his blog entry on Washington Redskins

"but one thing I can't complain about is being a Redskin and the leadership of Coach Joe Gibbs and his staff."

Now that statement goes a LONG way with me.

Hail!

I'm feeling a big year from him. He will quickly shut up the critics who say he's not a true #2. He'll be this year's Santana Moss.

I really hope so. He seems to really be taking things more seriously than when he was in SF.

Preliminarily, let me say that I too look forward to B. LLoyd's play. I am thinking he is really going to open up the field and he seems really fired up to be here.

But, with that said, what would you expect him to say on the REDSKINS' website?

"Damn, it's so hot out here - Joe Gibbs is a major dink for making us work out in this weather. And that Al Saunders, chasing me down like I'm some high school boy. Oh yeah, sorry to tell y'all this but boy is R-El overrated. I could really score some points in this offense if ol' Mark "candy arm" Brunnell holds up."

Actually I was hoping he would say something to that affect.

Right, that is the point I was trying to make. He isn't trying to sell a damn rap album or think his shit don't stink. I just think he is focused on football for the first time in his young career and that will show great results as the season goes on.

let's face it, 99.5% of sports interviews are trite & incredibly predictable. The other .05% are for disgruntled & non politically savvy types.
Most guys get that, hopefully B. Loyd will continue to make wise choices such as this one when on the mic.

The team did a bunch of sideline cathes, Lloyd outshined them all. That is his speciality, making nice grabs.

I would be surprised if his stats are not better than Moss' at the end of the year. Moss will have the explosions. Lloyd will be consistent.

It cRaZy what they will be able to do with the receivers they have. I totally slept on the Christian Furia pick up. The bullets are there - I hope Brunell can pull the trigger!

Re: B Lloyd - I'm starting to like this guy

Brandon is going to be a huge impact this year. His practice name is "Silk", Moss "Diamond" and El is "Pearl".
I think the move to get El for his WR role was kind of disappointing to watch him at camp. Never saw anything that impressing about him in his sideline drills. It seems to me that already his paycheck is outrageous. He better run back punts/ kicks big time for us b/c I dont see him impacting too much offensively.

Re: B Lloyd - I'm starting to like this guy

As a 49er fan, I have followed Lloyd's career since he started. All I have to say is that he is trash. He isn't a good teammate, he is afraid to go over the middle, short arms passes when he is about to get hit and makes a lot of mental mistakes. All he cares about is making spectacular catches, which he will have about one of every game, not many result in TD's however. Take tonights game as an example: Brunell throws a nice pass and Lloyd slows down to make a leaping grab instead of catching it in stride and getting the YAC. The other pass thrown his way, Brunnell looks for Lloyd on the outside and Lloyd ran an inside route, resulting in an INT. Not to be a homer, but we robbed you guys blind. He isnt worth a 3rd or a 4th, let alone BOTH. I believe your offense will be very effective this year. Moss is a great receiver and Randle El is good. But Lloyd just isn't a good football player.

Only a handfull of wideouts in the league could make that catch and you are badmouthing him? Guess what chief, Antonio Bryant can't make that catch. He shouldn't have dove? You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Have fun going 3-13.

Lloyd is just interested in making sportscenter highlights not winning football games. He isn't a burner and is a liability when blocking. I believe the niners will win 6-8 games.

Rooting for your team is great, but Antonio Bryant has been a locker room cancer in every team he's been on. Are you seriously going to hold him up as some paragon of sportsmanship?

:goodjob:
I didn't refer to Bryant's character in my posts i refered to Lloyd's. With Bryant there has only been one incident, in Dallas he threw a sweaty jersey at Parcells. In Cleveland there were no issues. So far it has been smoothe in San Fran.

Re: B Lloyd - I'm starting to like this guy

As a receiver I like Bryant. But it is a bit curious that he had his best season last year (nearly 70 catches, over 1000 yards) and yet the Browns made no offer at all to re-sign him. They had the money. And their top 2 receivers-Edwards and KWII-were coming off major knee injuries.

Still, they let him walk.

You said he was superior in every way, while denigrating Lloyd, especially his character, so if you're going to compare apples to apples, it's a fair thing to bring up.

And "incidents" are not what defines a guy's character. Those are just the things the media catches on TV. Hence the phrase, "locker room cancer", as locker room attitudes aren't necessarily front page news. Google the guy if you don't believe me, his past going back to his college days is littered with reports of sideline temper tantrums and the like.

I don't really care that much one way or another about Bryant, you see, it sounds like he is genuinely changing his ways and has developed a rapport with Smith. The point is that you can't always judge a guy by what he did at the last place he played. If that were the case, the "superior" Antonio Bryant might well have never played again after his stint in Dallas.

He constantly rapped in the locker room which annoyed a lot of players. He has since insulted the 49ers organization and find him to be an immature young man.

There comes a point in some arguments, where one party, having exhausted every attempt at reason, and even employing compromise as a way to reach the other party, realises the second party is simply incapable of logical discourse, and will simply keep repeating their premise, no matter how flawed.

We have now reached that portion of the argument. Thanks for playing, you can go home now, we're done with you.
Whatever, keep your homer blinders on, it's a free country. Enjoy your season.
I'm not being a homer. Have I said, THE REDSKINS SUK THE 49ERS R 4 REALZ! No. You guys have a great thing going over there, Randle El and Moss are both good receivers. The Redskins are a lot better than the 49ers are right now. I am just saying that trading for Lloyd was a really bad move. He isn't a physical threat, he won't break tackles or fight for yards. He will just make a circus catch and jump on the ground. Also he runs poor routes and makes too many mental mistakes.
