Demps prefers going for the big hit rather than cover the deep ball. He plays forward and used to love getting those hits when players werent looking. In Bmore he was used alot in blitzing, he's a descent tackler with a little pop and a slow step to read recievers deep.

I saw the hit that Demps put on Shockey, they showed it on NFL live. It was hilarious because Demps was jumping up and down all excited after he laid Shockey out, and Shockey was stumbling as he came back to the huddle. He actually have to stop and take a knee for a bit.

Its one thing to give him a good pop but then to jump up and down when it one of your so called star players.

Training camp hits are just that: training camp hits. I think Matt Bowen proved that a few years ago when he laid out Trung Candidate. Now, Trung wasn't injured, but Matt Bowen (short of one game) didn't really produce much of anything other than that hit on Trung in his entire Redskins career. The thing I remember most about him is when Keyshawn torched him for one of his rare touchdowns. And Will Demps is a much different player than Matt Bowen.

The funniest part about all of this is if you actualy see the "hit" on film you can see that Demps was going for the ball and didnt really hit him.There was contact no doubt, but it wasnt even an all out hit.What a joke.

I just watched the "hit". I mean did he even touch Shockey ? I watched it over and over like 20 times (THANKS TO COMCAST DVR!) and I didn't see the apparent hit. It was tough how he and another DB dapped eachother up after the hit like they were practicing for their in game celebrations !

Did anyone hear the ESPN version of the story? Apparently, Shockey said that the hit wasn't that serious, and even with a concussion, he's better than 90% of the tight ends in the league...
