Impressed with Jason Campbell
I'm typing this out and the game isn't over yet, but I am quite impressed with Jason Campbell. I thought he had very good presence in the pocket, and boy does the guy have an arm! I also think he throws a pretty spiral and is quite accurate! If Campbell plays with the starters, he's golden in my opinion! I still think it's Brunell's job though, but I feel much better about Campbell this year than I did last year!

Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
me too but i doubt he will be number two, they all sweat collins(the coaching staff).
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
he's the only bright spot on the offense so far.

epsy too |
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
Collins didn't even look good against the second string. I thought he was supposed to know how to run this offense. He didn't even try and get the first down on third downs, if it was 3rd and 8 he'd throw a 5 yard pass to the closest receiver.
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
Wow, did you all just see Jason's pass, for like 50 yards? Amazing.
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
That last pass to Buck Ortega was a beauty
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
shoot. Last year, I had the Brunell Bandwagon. I may have to get the Campbell Caravan rolling this year
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
Agreed. The future looks really good.

Oh forgot about him.....he's made some excellent catches. |

nice alliteration |
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
Sucks that i don't have a t.v. with cable in my room, otherwise i'd be watching the game and posting right now.
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
Okay with the exception of that last INT he threw....lol...I'm just going to blame it on the receiver not running the right route...hahaha....besides that...I think Campbell has a great shot at being #2 this year....
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
I hope he gets another drive. I want to see how he reacts to throwing an INT

Well, at the rate that Cincy is going, we'll probably get the ball one more time after they score! Thank God this is pre-season! |
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
One thing I can say after looking at the replay of the Clinton Portis tackle, he sure did his best impression of the Rock's "rock bottom!"
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
Campbell throws a very pretty ball. He still needs work though, obviously.

I really hope Buck makes the team, hes got talent. Yes yes, hes a Cane, but I watched him play for his entire career. He was always a backup, behind 3 guys that are, or will be first round picks (shockey, winslow, and now Greg Olsen, who will go first round). Cooley is obvioulsy the guy at hback. But I think Ortega gives us more talent then Fauria or Johnson |
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
I liked Campbell too. I'd like to see him get into the game earlier next game. Hopefully see some action against at least second stringers. He was very impressive. He made some really nice throws tonight, hell, he was the only QB who looked like he could have held his own. Brunell and Collins looked pretty bad.

Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
Plus, "Buck Ortega" is another awesome name on a team that has a virtual lock for the coolest named roster in the NFL.
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
He should change his name to "Dolla Bill Ortega"!
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
Buck Ortega actually sounds like a name Portis would come up with for one of his weekly costumes.
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
Campbell looked like he has some game. Collins wow could he that bad. Not good at all. Collins better get better because Campbell needs a lot of work. But still a year from now who knows!!!!
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
Campbell looked good. I loved the pass to Ortega, but that bullet to Espy over the middle, man that was sweet. He does have "pocket presence" and a serious arm. But he's gotta learn that quick NFL D and the crzy zone blitzes, hot reads, and stuff. We'll see!
Collins was like a bad joke. WTF? This is your big audition to be #2QB on a team with a 36 year old QB and a coordinator who loves you, and WHAT do you do? You throw an INT to a lineman??? ANd then get a safety when the lineman can't catch your second INT???? Ack. I hope it was just an off night or some bad calamari or something, but dang. |

Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
I think that would be great if at a press conference tomorrow:
Reporter: Todd, what the hell happened out there? Collins: Dude, I had the worst calamari for lunch |
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
he would be so lucky if that was his only problem. i am really impressed with jason campbells pocket presence. i thought when he played last preseason that most of the time he looked awkward and lost, but what a difference a season makes. experience is is biggest problem right now. that and he has to keep learning a new offense every year

Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
What is Buck Ortega's porn star name?

Buck Chorizo  |
Now I see why we gave up that 1st rounder...
JC looked good, the deep ball to Jimmy Farris was the most beautiful incompletion I've ever seen. He throws so effortlessly, the ball just jumps off his hand. I think he'll be 2nd string by the end of the preseason, the future looks bright.
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
Campbell certainly looks the part. He stands tall in the pocket and he seems so calm and at ease. He throws a very pretty ball and he can make all the throws.
He just needs the reps now. |
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
He seems to have all the makings of a star. I'd like to see progress next week and thru the preseason of him making faster decisions and getting the ball out quicker. Good lord does he have a gun and throw a pretty deep ball though. The passes to Farris and Ortega are a couple of the best balls I've seen a Redskins QB throw in ages. I don't know if Gibbs/Saunders will do it but I'd like to see Campbell get a half with the starters (maybe in the 3rd pre-season game) to see how he looks against starters on defense.
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
I've been on the JC bandwagon from the very begining.
He's our future... "The future is now!" - Coach George Allen peace mike |
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
For some reason the skins scrubs always seem to be better that the opponent in pre-season.
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
Wow, that was a perfect strike to Farris. Shame it was not caught, we need to make big plays like that. We need JC to get more field time. I didn't like the INT, but for the most part he looked impressive.

Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
He definitley look like a Pro quarterback last night albeit against scrubs. But remember scrubs are trying to make the team so they playin their tails off. I have said since camp started is that Brunnell pick up a knock so Campbell could take most of the snaps in camp. Collins has to have dropped to #3 i could have done better(lol). Its hard I think if the skins were not real contender Campbell would get a seripus look. And by the way the D was sick holy cow!!
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
Nice. Someone finally giving He-Man some props.
|
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
JC looked great in my opinion. I can't really think of any reason that he will not be the number two guy. Collins may understand the playbook, but lets be real. He threw a pick to a lineman. As a matter of a fact he threw it to a lineman on his first snap and hit him right in the numbers on what was supposed to be a screen pass.
Brunell plays eight games gets hurt and campbell takes over from there. Not that I wish mark to be hurt or anything I love him but that is the way I see it going down. |
Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
him and espy were the only bright spots on offense
