Daseal's Positive Thinking Poll

Vote!...or Rexi and Huddle will come to your house, tie you to a chair and make you watch them dance the Lambada....the forbidden dance!

First vote...haha! I voted for JC is the real deal. The guy just has great poise in the pocket and will keep getting better and better and he gets more playing time.

Although I'm excited about the developement of Campbell, I maintain the best move was a non-move. Joe is back!

Re: Daseal's Positive Thinking Poll

It's all about the defense for me. ST's planting of Mike Anderson, Marcus Washington's spin-move sack on Anthony Wright, Griffin and Salave'a disrupting Rudi Johnson with penetration and holding him to MINUS 8 YARDS ON 3 CARRIES. Kenny Wright's improved play against the Jets, Phillip Daniels getting pressure on Anthony Wright before dealing with back spasms, Archuleta's sack on Ramsey. I love it.

The offense may struggle with growing pains under a new system, but no matter what, this defense is going to be sick. Sean Taylor looks ready to make a big leap. Defense still wins championships, and we'll ride it all the way home.

Ask me this, "Hey Schneed, what's cooler, an 80-yard TD from Brunell to Moss, or a Sean Taylor hit on a receiver jarring the ball loose for a fumble recovery?"

The hit and fumble any day of the week. Defense baby, defense.

My positive thinking isn't so positive as much as it is an attempt to numb the negative thinking. We're 0-2 and getting smoked on both sides of the ball, but it's just the preseason. I think Spurrier's 2002 team looked hot in the preseason and we saw what happened there.

Re: Daseal's Positive Thinking Poll

Coming into the preseason I think our main concern was about Campbell.

Right now I'm pretty happy about him. He's still green but he's shown alot of promise.

Re: Daseal's Positive Thinking Poll

I'm really torn on defense and Campbell, but I picked Campbell. Our defense is going to be dominant yet again, but I was truly concerned about Campbell. Like last week, I'd love to see him get some more snaps with the first teamers, but he definitely impressed me.

it's nice to know the QB that Gibbs wants to hand the reigns off to is capable of moving forward. kid's got helluva arm.

Ahh! Come on man, you're really reaching with that one...

Reaching AROUND that is! HA HAAAAAAA!

And YOU'RE the one with a bath house.

Did I mention that i hate the Pre-Season. No, not Bath House Pre-Season, the NFL.

I don't get my zingers right until about the third week of the regular season.

TMC, thank you for politely playing along.

But let me un-hijack this for a moment and say that I'm also highly pumped we got, not a hooker, not some cheap weed, but an actual NFL player for Taylor Jacobs. Not only did we get someone, but he looks like someone that can actually be taught by this coaching staff to PRODUCE.

Water's wet, the sky is blue and our defense continues to dominate.

I voted for Campbell. He's a pleasant surprise. His performance is actually one of the big reasons why the pre-season thus far hasn't bothered me.

I voted for Campbell. Great arm, Good accuracy, Good pocket presence, Good poise...now we just have work on decision making, which is what separates the wheat from the chafe in the NFL.

I'm happiest about the fact that it is PS, and not off-season!

Campbell. He has really shown poise and pocket presence and can run a little too. It would be nice to see him with the entire 1st string offense and for more than 2 quarters. I'd like to see how and if he can get in a groove.

TJ for a player that may actually contribute. I was shocked. JC's also looked promising.

Re: Daseal's Positive Thinking Poll

Who would have thought that we could actually get a trade, for a guy we were going to have to cut? Gotta go with the TJ trade.

Hopefully Williams and Gray can do something with Rumph. And I actually hope that San Fran can do something with TJ. Good potential upside for each team. No lose situation.

Re: Daseal's Positive Thinking Poll

I went with the D. They're about all Ive had to cheer about so far. I like Campbell, but I'd like to see him have a game with more TDs than Ints.

Getting someone for Jacobs is good, and I almost voted for this because I like what I've seen from Rumph so far, but he's a part of the D and that again is all I've enjoyed in the preseason...

Re: Daseal's Positive Thinking Poll

Way too much excitement about Campbell in this thread, in my opinion. Good arm, good pocket presence, makes the throws, yeah gee that's great.

But what about the turnovers? Throwing off the back foot against the Jets? Horrible decision.

You can't win games by turning it over, it's the single most important statistic in all of football. Not passing yards, not passing TDs, not completion percentage, turnovers. He's not there yet. If Brunell goes down and Campbell goes in, I'll know he can lead the team and make plays. But I'll be crossing my fingers that he doesn't throw the game away every time. If he doesn't make smarter decisions, he'll be the kind of QB who gives games away.

I hear you, but those things will only be corrected with more reps as he becomes more comfortable.

The positives we've seen this summer, pocket presence, arm strength, poise, etc., are things you can't teach. And I think that's why people are so excited about him.

He just needs to play.
He just needs to play.
Agreed that playing time will make him better. But I don't want him learning on the job while we have Super Bowl aspirations.

What Campbell has showed so far this preseason has me excited for the long term. But I'm much more excited for this season; a season in which we have a legit shot at a Super Bowl.

Who seriously thinks Campbell can take us to a Super Bowl this year if forced into action? The only way we win is if he stays on the bench and Brunell stays healthy. That's why I can't understand why there's so much excitement about Jason Campbell. Let's make a run NOW.

MTK 08-24-2006 11:51 AM

Re: Daseal's Positive Thinking Poll

Campbell has me excited about next year, but right now I agree it's Brunell or bust.
