Pluto no longer a planet
Pluto is no longer considered a planet. Reducing the 9 planets to 8.

Re: Pluto no longer a planet
So that's official now? About 12 years ago in my Astronomy class in college I actually wrote a paper arguing that by definition Pluto did not meet the necessary requirements to be a planet. The title was something like "One Thing We Can All Agree On....Pluto is Mickey Mouse's Dog"

What does the Roman God of the Underworld have to do with anything?
|
Re: Pluto no longer a planet
Tomato, Tomahhhto. It's still a big icy rock going in a big circle around the sun, no matter what you call it. These science nerds are wasting way too much time over what to call the damn thing.

Re: Pluto no longer a planet
Ugh. This like ruins my week!
|
Re: Pluto no longer a planet
Pluto was one of my favorites, I had a Pluto jersey, god-dammit
|
Re: Pluto no longer a planet
Was it authentic or replica?
|
Re: Pluto no longer a planet
Because I found this Pluto jersey on eBay claiming it was authentic and once I got it, it looked like some poor Ethiopian kid shat it out.
|
Re: Pluto no longer a planet
It was a replithentic
|
Re: Pluto no longer a planet
I guess you suspected Pluto was going to get traded. Your bad!

Actually, it went in more of an oval around the sun. That's what did it in, the old style elite (the "classic planets") couldn't cope with Pluto (or P.O. as it likes to called) doing its own thing and they kicked it out. It really got a raw deal - it played hard, it got itself a moon or three. So what if it didn't orbit like the other planets? On game day it would show up. But nooooo, they just couldn't hack it. Their way or the highway. Pluto, however, knows what's best for Pluto - just ask the special astronomers that Pluto had shipped in to argue its case. Just another case of the man keeping him down. No worries itself, Pluto loves itself some Pluto. It will just find some other solar system that can appreciate it specialness. |

Re: Pluto no longer a planet
I smell a holdout.
|
Re: Pluto no longer a planet
how can you be a hold out of something you already got kicked out of?!?!
how can you be a hold out of something you already got kicked out of?!?!
See, there's the hate. Pluto was basically ordered to get it orbit in line and chose not to do so, just cause the "planets" say he isn't on the team doesn't mean he isn't an intergral part of the solar system. BTW - Word in space is that Pluto thinks Saturn is gay ("c'mon, damn thing has rings")and that Mars could have supported life but just wasn't up to it ("Hey, I wasn't the one that got tired when the solar system was created"). |
Re: Pluto no longer a planet
weren't they going to move it from 9-12 and include 3 others? Too bad for pluto. It had a nice run.
|
Re: Pluto no longer a planet
This is idiotic.
I won't be able to remember this. The same kind of people also claimed tomatoes were fruits after I already learned it was a vegetable. Sure, it makes more sense to be a fruit but it's tough to reprogram my elementary education...it's something I've "known" my whole life. I bet the same people also decided to make Indigo an official rainbow color. Don't people have BETTER things to waste time and spend government grants on? ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. |
Re: Pluto no longer a planet
Classic case of planet envy...
|
Re: Pluto no longer a planet
All those science projects of the solar system I made were just a lie. I feel so cheap and used.

Looks like the scienetists might actually know what they are doing afterall. |
Re: Pluto no longer a planet
What about all us Scorpios who have been taught all these years that Pluto is our ruling planet? What about us?
Suddenly we're the Willis and Arnold Jacksons of the Zodiac world. Maybe Neptune will adopt us. |

Re: Pluto no longer a planet
Saturn is the rumored gay one? I always thought if there was a gay planet out there, it'd have to be Uranus. i guess I was wrong then. I still feel bad for Pluto though, it's like bringing a college football player up to the big leagues, then telling him he's not good enough to be in the big leagues and sending him back to college.

Re: Pluto no longer a planet
Don't give up Pluto!
Did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? No! I'll be damned if when talking to pluto I insult him by calling him a "dwarf" planet. He'll be Mr. Pluto as always! Them stargeeks have way too much time and MY AMERICAN TAX $ to be wasting time on demoting a planet. I want a Jetson flying car and I want it now!!!! peace mike |
