Roster Cuts Announced
 

Over on redskinsTV they have announced roster cuts...most surprising:

Robert Johnson, TE
Kevin Simon - LB (7th rd)

All others not real surprising other than Lonie (P)....guess Frost has won the job.

Looks like ortega might have won himself a job.

Lonie is gone because they are going to find someone else to compete with Frost. Frost only makes this team if they can't find anyone better in the next day or two. God help us if they don't.

They have to cut down to 53 by 9/3 I believe

I think first cuts are due this week. Maybe Tuesday? The new CBA changed stuff so I don't know for sure. I do know they have to cut to 75 now rather than 65 on the first cuts. That excludes NFLE players.

is there any other tight ends left except for cooley and fureea(sp?) and ortega? i guess in a pinch sellars could play that position

I am pretty surprised Ortega made it over Johnson. I guess the injury bug just couldn't escape him.

Nothing suprising here. Cooley/Furia are the 1/2 at TE anyways; I'd like Ortega too.

i was suprised that antuan edwards got cut already. He's a veteran i thought he would at least make it to the next set of cuts. Who do we have left at the safety position other than taylor, arch and prioleau.

Why be surprised with Ortega escaping the first cut. He's caught the best passes in the preseason with the exception of Jimmy Farris. That 44 yd. reception from Jason Campbell in the first game is still the best offensive play. Ortega will probably make the practice squad if has a good game without mistakes against Baltimore.

i think he makes the 53 man team. if he doesn't then we only have 2 TE's on the roster. Would we do it?

I would think that Ortega is going to make the practice squad ( filling the void that R J left behind ). I guess that Kevin Simon was all hype during otas. Did anyone else realize he was hurt through traing camp? Anyway nothing very surprising on the list.

I figured he'd get pratice-squaded and RJ would make the team. Then when RJ got hurt, as he always does, Ortega would be available to come up. This basically means Ortega is a lock for the roster now. This is good. I think Ortega has been a bright spot for us. Just surprised at how it went down.

We are not keeping many TEs because we need space to keep all of the RBs and WR we have.

Sadly no, Bramlet is not worth the investment b/c he is no where close to ready. Trust me in this one. Sadly COllins is worth more. Great outlook for season.

Look at the lions last year all the talented recivers with no one to throw the ball to him. Mark step back and read . Can we skip preseason so they can win already.

Very true.
I think we need to send Ortega to NFL Europe or prac squad long enough to gain 25 lbs or so and develop some more, but seems to have a great eye for the ball and sure hands.

Man even if TO becomes a problems is not like the Eagles where they don't have nothing behind him the team still can perform in a high level withouth him.

I'm not saying we don't need him man you can't say yo don't need a TO type of talent on the field but I'm more concern on losing say Bledsoe or F. Adams than TO
