Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
FOX Sports - NFL - Pennington wins starting quarterback job
Well now Ramsey is riding the bench in New York. If this guy can't beat out Pennington, what does that say about him? |
Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
did you really think he was going to unseat Pennington as starter? I sure didnt. Pennington is a proven commodity in the nfl...is ramsey? I dont know but i sure wish he was here as our backup.

Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
Suprise suprise. Yawn.
|
Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
Shocker.
Another team that doesn't recognize his greatness. |
Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
"Poor" Ramsey? This is a great thing, it saves him a lot of embarrassment.
|
Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
Ramsey might even be the #3 behind Kellen Clemens.
He's just not a good QB folks. Face it. |
Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
I would rather drive a gasoline truck in Baghdad than count on the Jets O line to protect me. Winning that job my not be a good thing for anyone.
|
Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
NY Jets just haven't given Ramsey a chance. Why won't anybody give Patrick Ramsey a chance? Can't they see the MontanaISTIC play inside this guy? LOL!!
|
Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
I was never a band wagoner for Ramsey but I do recognize that he could have been a good QB In this league if he had a chance to drop and pass the ball with some protection. He's just so immobile that the quality of his arm and accuracy could never be fully utilized. I think Spurrier's retarded blocking schemes combined with the immobility have basically ruined him. He could have been a decent starter is allowed to develop properly. C'est la Vie.

...and "I coulda been a contenda"... |
Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
where the hell is offiss when you need him?
|
Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
I'll play the part of offiss for the moment, but without the exaggeration of certain players abilities. The reason Mangini has taken so long to make the decision is because while Pennington has thrown for more yards in the preseason, Ramsey has a higher passer rating. Ramsey is also far tougher than Pennington. Regardless of who starts the season, I'm sure Ramsey will probably get ample playing time this year, considering Pennington's injury history.
|
Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
I'm not even sure he will get to play, if the Jets season goes in the tank which it probably will, they'll probably just turn Clemens loose.
|
Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
Just curious, Clemens is younger right? that's why he's seen as having more upside than Ramsey?
I thought Ramsey played relatively well two weeks ago, lord knows he's familiar with Laveraneus, but he didn't play A DOWN this past weekend. didn't bode well... |
Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
I bet that Ramsey might even be cut!
|
Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!
Mangini (Gibbs) lied to Ramsey when he told him he would have a fair chance at competing for the starting job. Pennington (Brunell) is Mangini's (Gibbs') guy. Ramsey was never given a chance (by Gibbs). I hope Ramsey goes somewhere and gets the opportunity to showcase his skills and becomes a Pro Bowl QB (career backup).

Given his current skill set, I've always thought the Raiders would have been a good fit for him. I think he and Al D. will still meet up in Silver and Black. |

I remember reading that in college Ramsey took a beating as QB coming out of Tolane. If he can't get past the Spurrier years how can he make it in the NFL. Alot of other QB's have taken a beating and had great careers in the NFL. Aikman to name one took a ton of hits his first two seasons and the skins dished out alot of them.

Not to derail the point of this thread too much, but Mangini is the new dumbest coach in the league. Running flea flickers, reverses, and onside kicks in the preseason is not the sign of a good NFL head coach. On top of that, between Pennington's accuracy, Ramsey's arm, and Clemens wheels, he's got one good quarterback. He's definitely set up for failure in New York. I'll be surprised if he's still there next season. |

Yeah I think that 'Spurrier ruined him' excuse is quickly losing any real merit. Like you said, he took a beating in college too. Taking a beating doesn't excuse the same mistakes he keeps making. Holding onto the ball way too long and not having an accurate deep ball are his hallmarks, not a result of any offenses he's played in. |

Poor Ramsey.
