There is a difference between winning and competing. At this point we are not even competing, we are losing ever phase of every preseason game. Nothing like going into the first game of the season totally flat.

that is what really disturbs me personally. I completely understand that coaches don't want to show to much, but it is really discouraging that what they are showing is so damn piss poor. Cooley dropping balls, Carlos getting yet another PI, Brunell making bad throws, Rock not taking advantage of running lanes, the D-line getting no penetration, Jason Campbell getting sacked three times...

it is down right scary.

I love all the crap I hear from my friends. I just laugh and think to myself " cant wait for the regular season, cause thats when I get to laugh at everyone who doubted us". Theres even a couple of doubters in here. Theres no way in hell im gonna believe that we arent gonna have one of the most explosive teams, offensively and defensivly. We got two of the best offensive minds ever. Why would we come out and tip our hand. Just give everyone somethin to scout. theres a plan in place. You gotta believe.

Maintain that spirit PorterHouse, good to see. Amazing how we can skip all over the place when things aren't going well. I'll go in the fox-hole with you anytime. In the last week I've heard JG is going to retire, Danny Smith shouldn't be coaching, Al Saunders should go back to KC, all from our trusted and loyal Redskin fans. Keep the faith my man, we'll be there in the end when it counts.

A lot of transit fans too because this is a transit area. The talk good about the team when all is going well, as soon as things get a little rough they jump ship. Bandwagoners, fairweather fans. I've been doing this a longtime.

Ive been a fan since I was C sectioned at Washington Hospital center Im not doubting them...Its just a bit fustrating espeically when u live in cali (Thank you mom and the United states army) all you see here is raiders...AND COWBOY FANS THAT ARENT EVEN REAL FANS! Anywho.....I get a kick outta the real fans face when My skins Hand their team there ass on a silver platter!

honestly they looked better tonight. with scabs on the starting OL we could still run somewhat effectively. frost looked better, but i'd rather have koch, and i wish we had taken him.

archuleta looked terrible though, he got beat for 39 yards, 15yard (TD), and a couple other big plays. might as well make him a linebacker.

doughty mised the game entirely cause his wife was giving birth. I wonder if he had already claimed a spot, or if he's risking his chance...

Guys, I am going to throw this out there to see if any of you feel like I do right now as we wait for September 11. The excitement and anticipation that I had around the end of July, was almost totally crushed this last month watching our ineptitude during the preseason. I reeaaallllly hope Saunders and company know what they are doing, because if we had been watching a Spurrier coached team this past month, I would say we would not win a game this year! I know we are all full of optimisim, but really how do you guys feel after watching our terrible preseason?

I wonder how the optimism and the "wait and see" attitude on this board will change if we lose to Minnesota next week.

a hint of doubt might come from the fact that saunders' offense is complex. i don't think it will hold us back much but it's something to consider.

why don't some of you number people dig up his preseason numbers in KC. also, find out the chiefs regular season record his first year as OC there.

Matty, I guess I have doubts because while this is a Joe Gibbs coached team, it is an Al Saunder's coached offense, and in our effort to be vanilla and not show anything....... we have succeded. It is a double edged sword. We didn't give away anything and we didn't do anything. What is Preseasn for in the Redskins camp anyway?

If we lose to Minnesota, it's still not the end of the season. Remember we lost three games in a row in November last year to fall to 5-6. That was supposedly the end of the world...but it wasn't.

That said, I have this feeling (can't explain it) that we're going to beat the Vikings to the tune of something like 24-3. I see us opening with some ridiculous play-Randle-El on a reverse, throws to Cooley for a 50 yard gain. Something crazy like that. Not the first play from scrimmage, but very early in the game.

I am thinking more like 17 to 13 us with the defense putting a touchdown up for us. I think the offense is going to take some time to come around. I just dont think gibbs and saunders are just going to flip a switch and the offense is going to come out firing on all cylinders.

One more comment from me about Preseason and then I will move on to thinking about the Regular season. I get the feeling that after Portis got hurt in game one that Gibbs threw up his hands and said "Enough with this Preseason stuff". Then he basically would not let any of the starters play any more the month of August. I mean if you listened to his comments last night during the post game, it was like "Moss had a runny nose so we held him out last night. Randy Thomas had a hang nail so he watched from the sidelines, and Jansen got his feelings hurt during warmups so we let him watch as well." He was ultra conservative playing the starters during August.

In his first year, they only went 6-10, but they had the 4th best offense, (6th best passing, 6th best rushing) and they had no good receivers. All they had was Tony Gonzalez
