Re: Cut List
Nobody really suprising on that list. My picks for practice squad are: Battle, Espy, Havner, Killings, McCune, Ortega, and Manuel White Jr.
|
Re: Cut List
Based on what Gibbs said today about Holdman as MLB, I am not surprised to see McCune go. I think that when Rocky Macintosh is ready to start, Holdman goes on to be a super backup behind Macintosh and Marshall.
I'll be interested to see the practice squad picks tomorrow. To bad for Killings and Farris. |
Re: Cut List
Espy and Morton played pretty good this preseason. Please cut ties with this Nemo guy! I thought White made more plays than he did. Just get reid of that #48 jersey. And hopefully we've seen the lasr of the Clemons brothers.
I was hoping BAL would let go of CB Derrick Martin. Unfortunately BAL is a team who will build through the draft (sixth rounder). |
Re: Cut List
vernon fox made the team
|
Re: Cut List
I'd like to see Lumsden, Espy, Ortega and Havner back on the practice squad.

Desperate attempt to 'fix' special teams... Doughty made it even though he had to tend to his wife and newborn and thus missed the game. |
Re: Cut List
no real suprises if you ask me. anxious to see who makes the practice squad.

really upset to see Buck Ortega and Jimmy Farris go |
Re: Cut List
Who backs up Furia? We cut Johnson, and Buck looks like he's practice squad material (is he eligible?).
Wonder if we'll bring in some cut vets from other teams. Wouldn't surprise me on the O line and at DB. |
Re: Cut List
the only surprise is c killings. played in a handful of games last year and did fairly well. i was another who wanted buck ortega to make it. the skins must have someone in mind. unless they plan on using sellars at tight end some

Remember Cooley is now listed at TE. So I would imagine that Furia would be the second guy in a double set. As far as the third TE, Sellers probably would line up if we got in a pinch. |

I guess the kid Golston impressed enough to make it. |
Re: Cut List
Yeah no real surprises here. I'm hoping guys like Espy and Ortega stick on the PS.
|
Re: Cut List
Good point, 12thMan. I'm still thinking Hbacks and TEs. Sellars can back up as a blocking TE, no doubt.
Just curious, is Nemo a good FB? I only remember seeing him at tail back. |
Re: Cut List
I hate to see Killings gone.

He's listed as fullback, but remember you throw Sellers and Duckett in the mix, with a dash of Rock and suddenly Nemo is way down on the depth chart. |
Re: Cut List
charles rogers got cut in detroit... As for the skins it had to be done to somebody and we know if we need someone we will bring him in like we brought farris and brown back last year
I hate to see Killings gone.
Golston and Montgomery beat him out. We shouldn't be too sad about it, at least some of our draft picks made the team. |
Re: Cut List
Last year's mid-to-late round draft picks, McCune and White didn't make it.
With so many h-backs and fullbacks, I don't see how White could have though. Nemo has been known to put a few on the ground -- I'm surprised he made it. |

Re: Cut List
Backup OL? Looks disasterous should the interior need even a breather on the sidelines. Cut Pino,Lefotu.... Kept Molinaro and that worthless bum Walter. Ndukwe at backup G. Pucillo at center .Great....
Did we keep Broughton?? What purpose would that serve. And cut TE Ortega leaving us with 2 TE's and some non-sense I have heard of Sellers playing TE if needed. How many backs do we need. CP, Betts, TJ, Rock, and BROUGHTON?? Unfortunately the guy I want most to stay would be Killings but that DL is so stacked with 9 other players. Killings was cool, I think he could have made more strides with us. Killings gets cut and not Boschetti?? Really??, Killings brings a big body, more physical, quicker, and makes plays in the more time he has seen. DL-Healthy they should do the damn thing. Carter, Danils,Wynn,Salavae,Griff,Evans, Mont-?, Golst-? Boschetti-? Seems Killings got robbed of a spot. LB is dangerously thin to me. Wash., Mc, Hold, Posey, Marsh, Khary, is that it? We cut Simon, McCune-shame., Havner I cant think of who I am missing. DB's I have to say I am pleased with all but the reality that Battle couldnt hang and got cut. That means an extra spot for Doughty. Springs,Rog, Wright, Jimoh, Rumph,Fox,Prioleau,Taylor,Arch, and REED. Looks pretty good to me. Stay healthy and we stay fined tuned. It stills seems like the overgrowing concern on both sides of the ball will be our OL/DL which health, production, and unseemless rotation have plagued the emergence of this team for years. Looking at other teams cuts, I dont see any LB additions we would go after, OL has a good possibility but LB is only 6 deep?? That has me boggled. |
Re: Cut List
I think we are in great shape at LB. I expect that Havner and MCCune may make the practice squad. The LBs who did make the 53 man roster can play multiple positions so we would have to lose all three starter (or just Washington) before I really think we would be in big trouble.

Re: Cut List
did spencer havner play much during the pre season ? i seem to recall reading on redskins.com an article about havner, it was saying how much gibbs and co. were impressed with him. i wonder if gibbs didn't want to show his talent during pre season so other teams wouldn't come after him once he was placed on the practice squad.

A good blocking tight end was a pivotal part of Joe Gibbs' offense. But Saunders' system calls for them to be primarily pass catchers. The fullbacks are more responsible for the blocking. |

I don't remember seeing much of Havner. But something tells me if the coaches were that enamored with him, they would have put him on the roster. |

Cutting Killings was a bad move. Killings is a proven NFL DT. He stepped in last year and played well when needed. Killings proved his worth in regular season games last year, going against starting NFL offensive lineman. Montgomery and Golston are rookies that have flashed some skills, but they did it in preseason games going against backups, not starters. You are only as good as your competition and in this case Mont. and Golsten are not ready if called upon. Boschetti should have been cut instead of Killings. Killings will get picked up by another team. |

A Look At the Final 53: Defense As for the RB depth, I think we kept 5 because of the special teams depth they provide. Betts will be returning kickoffs according to Redskins.com. They also said that Rock is the leader of the special teams. I would think our RB and FB depth would look something like this. Besides who says the FB will always block, sometimes he will get the ball. RB 1. CP 2. TJ 3. Betts 4. Rock FB 1. Sellars 2. TJ 3. Nemo |

no, if you have that great of a talent, don't you think he would be playing right now instead of being cut |
no, if you have that great of a talent, don't you think he would be playing right now instead of being cut
playing right now.......NO, not ahead of the other linebackers. but like him enough to not want to lose him even though they couldn't fit him onto the 53 man roster. gibbs has always been known for "stashing" talented players away somewere else other than the 53 man roster. i'm not saying thats what they're doing with havner, i'm just wondering because of what was said about him earlier during training camp. |

I also feel the roster will add a player or two before the season starts. How about this huge DT that was cut from KC, Junior Siavii? A 2004 1st rounder, he was some what of a surprise cut. At 6' 5" and 320 pounds he must be slow and an underachiever to get cut. |

havner didn't even make the practice squad, so much for what i was thinking earlier.:Smoker:

Well, so much for my thought they'd go after Michael Haynes. The Saints picked him up

The Eagles added Jasper Harvey to their practice squad
