Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch

Ok guys, when will we start to hear how Clinton Portis is progressing? Do we have to wait for the injury report on Thursday, or do you guys think we will hear something before then? I really don't want to see Betts or Ducket starting for us this week. As if the Skins don't need enough of an emotional boost to get ready for the Vikings, having Portis in the starting lineup would be great!

Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch

Well I think the team has already annouced that Portis is healing faster than expected, and if it were regular season he would have played last week. I think it is enough info. Plus wtf is up with the title dude, that is just not cool. Change it mod, that is seriously not good.

Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch

Well we know for sure Portis has been out of his sling for a while now. Also, Gibbs said last week Clinton was participating in drills and so forth. From all indications, it looks like his rehab is on schedule and he'll be in the line-up on September 11th.

i heard he might not be ready...but Im sure he suits up either way.

We probably wont disclose to much so they cant game plan as well for us...not that we have shown anything anyways...

Portis will play. A subluxed shoulder with no fracture, or significant range of motion deficit. As long as he isn't in horrible pain he should play. It will have been a month out on september 11th. No way he doesn't start.

LOL, me too.. I was in two drafts, had #9 and #10 and got Portis in both drafts. Without the injury he was a top 4-5 pick..

I want him healthy moreso for the Redskins sake, but I'll love for his success to be mine too!

Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch

I have first hand knowledge that his shoulder looks to be doing very well. I will expand on this in a later post but for now I can say that at his birthday party on Saturday at his house he was picking up heavy overstuffed chairs and moving them around with ease. The shoulder showed no issues and someone even mentioned it and he said it was cool. How do I know this? THAT is what will be xplained when I have time.

Constantly we hear about -Is there more to Portis' injury. Careful thought and inside word is that the arrival of TJ will be permanent and that CP will be dealt after the season. Does anyone think speaking out about Gibbs or confronting the media is tolerated in this club? I kid you not this wound will not heal next year be ready for something totally different.

how'd you pull that one off? I think having portis in the backfield sept 11 with be huge emotional boost for this. Can we say he is our franchise player?

I’m not sure what to think, Joseph White of AP reported…(posted Sept. 2)

Gibbs said RB Clinton Portis (shoulder) and CB Shawn Springs (abdomen) are the only players whose availability is in serious doubt for the opener. "Most of the other guys are ready to roll," Gibbs said

I hope he is ready, but if not 100% let him sit. No need to risk further injury. I think we can beat the Vikes with Betts and Duckett.

I am gonna have to strongly disagree with you. There is a huge difference between what Clinton and LaVar are doing/did, and I think that is an appropiate comparision to illustrate how what you are saying, will never happen.

They are/were franchise players, both got hurt, and both complained to the media. So on paper, this looks like the same deal, and therefore Portis would be off the team too, right? Wrong. Portis has no problem with the coaching staff, and even though he said something about playing, it was due to frustration of his injury, shit I would too. If you were a superstar, and you got hurt in a meaningless game, you would be pissed, but you would be too scared to speak your mind, well Portis is not scared. Obviously Portis knows he was gonna play, and if didn't get hurt it is no big deal, but that was emotion you all heard. The coaches have no problem with that at all, and we need him to win. We did not NEED LaVar to win, that is the main difference, and that is why Portis won't be traded.

It is also because his injury really is not that serve. I compared his injury to Palmer's in another thread, and most people are not worried about Palmer, they think his knee will hold up instead of Portis's shoulder? Obviously Palmer is much more likely to get hurt, but people think Portis is done, and Palmer is gonna be the MVP.

My point is that we need Portis to win, and his injury is not that bad, therefore he is staying lol. I can not believe I am actually arguing, I really do not know how one can think he will be gone. If Portis is benched, we do not need him to win, then we can talk about this(which won't happen), otherwise this really cannot be a legit arguement.

I was at the guy's house when he picked up over stuffed chairs OVER HIS HEAD. There is nothing "more" to the injury. I aint no doctor but if you have a shoulder injury that is serious then I am pretty sure you aren't picking up 100 Lb chairs over your head.

Someone kill this thread!!! I seriously doubt Clinton is going anywhere. He IS GIBBS GUY!! Thats why Clinton can get away with what he said and Lavar was ostrisized (lol). Clinton is Gibbs favorite guy here. I think that was a ridiculous statement with no inside knowledge at all.

Riggins was one of the worst team guys and Gibbs kept him around because he was his best option, and I don't think you can compare one statement made by Portis and the constant pain in the ass Riggins was to Gibbs.

Here's My prediction: Clinton Portis does not play in next years preseason, but suits up in Burgandy and Gold week one.

Portis wont have more than two carries a game thats for sure. i dotn think Edge has had more than 2-3 carries a preseason game in years.

The problem is with that is he only had one carry this preseason. have you noticed Ladanlian Thomlinson does not play in the preseason. That was my point.

I would like that too, CP is needed (although I like to suit in wh on wh). He is Gibbs' boy, hell nobody can gain acceptance to team if CP isnt on the council, and all the screen shots of CP and Gibbs hugging and jumping up and down on the sidelines was genuine. But what was revealed to me and what effect his injury played is minor compared to the outcome of speaking out against Gibbs. Same thing happened in Denver. How do you think I feel 4 months ago I spent $300 on a CP jersey. Does anyone think this team doesnt still have needs??
QB,OL,CB's. Im still in denial about it but I believe thats the course of action that will be pursued. Watcg.

Ah see that's where you made the mistake. Connect 4 only worked for Marty Schottenheimer's press conferences. For Gibbs, you have to play Chutes and Ladders. Rookie mistake, no worries
