Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
Monday night was a disaster but a win against Dallas would sweeten things. I'm still optimistic. Bledsoe sucked against the Jaguars but our secondary needs to play a whole lot better than Monday. Corners looked poor, Archuleta over rated as feared and ST still giving away dumb penalties. Still, it was the first game and I still believe that we will get better.
Check out the following for accurate descriptions of Eagle and Cowboy fans and Strahan. Don't like the view on the NFL though - hope the guy is joking. sportbitch |
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
I watched the game too and I think 2 of those penalties on Taylor were bogus. One thing is for sure from Monday night if it is any consolation, is that the Redskins are sure to dominate the highlights of "Jacked-Up" this week, man, Taylor and company were really laying down the lumber!

Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
If Springs is back healthy, we have a shot. If not, we will get eaten alive.
|
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
Hurrykaine, you are dead right that we need Springs back healthy fast. Secondary was Swiss cheese out there. Can't wait for TO to run into ST - that would be worth giving a 15 yard penalty for.
|
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
We either need Springs back or we need our pass rush to improve in a hurry.
|
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
Ugh. Must win next week? Probably not, but its damn near close.
I know that last years team would NOT have lost that game, so the only optimistic point I can find is that I expect the team to improve next week. It's a bad situation right now. Dallas is going to be a test. A win would rectify everything. |
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
I don't know about you guys, but that freaky injury on the first kickoff by Prioleau really seem to take that initial energy out of our Defense. I thought that Taylor was the only guy really laying out the hits. The Defense played OK, but Brad Johnson picked us apart on 3rd down, because he got rid of the ball so fast we could not get any pressure. We all know the key to beating Dallas and that is to get in Bledsole's face early and often. When he has time he will kill you. But when he feels pressure, like he did against the Jags, he will melt. The Skins Offense needs TDs in the Redzone, because the 3 FGs did not help last night.

Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
We might get torched w/ no Springs. We got torched by the Vikes receivers. The boy's WR's are a little better.
|
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
I'm actually excited about our offense. There were flashes of brilliance (e.g., screen to open the game, toss to Portis for the TD, slant to Randle-El who almost broke one, etc.). I would like to see Cooley, Sellers and Lloyd more involved.
The only time we were embarrassed on offense is when Pat Williams got to the backfield to interrupt Brunell's casual handoff to Portis. Of course, getting near the goalline and not being able to score was embarrasing too, but that will get corrected as the season progresses. The left side of our O-line, especially the gap between Rabach and Dockery is worrisome. |

TO has always manhandled Springs, even when Springs was in Seattle, so I'm not so sure having a banged up Springs in the lineup will help or hurt. Hopefully Sean Taylor get's in TO's head, early. It would also be a huge boost if Portis was healthy enough to start. Betts doesn't scare anybody, and Dallas will eat him alive. |
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
Definitely need to get some sort of pass rush to pressure Bledsoe. Last time that sack of shit moved out of the pocket was 1999. I'd like to see Carter step it up.
|
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
Where in the heck was Andre Carter? I thought he was supposed to be our savior for a pass rush. Ghee maybe we spent too much money on him like we did on Archuletta. You know the saying around the NFL amongst players:
"You come to the Redskins to get paid not play". |
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
It was hard to tell if Carter was even on the field. No pressure from his side at all. At least you could see Archuletta - about 5 yards behind the play. Carter needs to step and show his 1st round class - I want to see Bledsoe eat dirt.

Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
I'm not ready to crucify anyone at this point. We've had just one friggin game. I am disappointed, but it's not the end of the world.

Exactly. Losing the opener sucks, but there's alot of football to go. |
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
Sheriff, you speak with wisdom. A win against Dallas would certainly set the world right side up again. A poor effort against an average Viking team can be be rectified with a step up this week. I still believe...

Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
I, unfortunately, see us losing to the Cowboys if Springs is injured. I have faith and think they'll improve with time. I just don't see us winning next week. I'd say the Boys win 21-17.

Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
This is a really reallly bad spot for the skins. Dallas coming off a bad loss playing at home on Sunday night under the spotlight.

It will be a different game next week. Dallas offensive line doesn't have near the talent Minnesota has. We will pressure Bledsoe. Our D Line just plain got beat by their O Line last night. It happens. Normally we can blitz more, but GW probably didn't feel he could take the chance without Shawn Springs. He will probably take more chances next week regardless if Springs is healthy or not. |
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
I along with a few others have said it's only one game, and still early in the season. However, I think what many are trying to point out here is the obvious. We have some problems, the competition continues to get better, and we don't know about time or personell to fix the problems. We can't get a kicker, or cover corner, or pass rush in five days before we go to Dallas. We all want to remain optomistic, but we also have to admit that what we've seen so far in 06 has not been exactly a thing of beauty. We also know we have lost six straight games which has to be mentally depressing. We couldn't cover those guys last night, and we all know Dallas's receivers are better than they are, so I think that while we must keep the faith, based on what we've seen there is a little cause for concern.

The Redskins will win this game by a TD.

Well its not all our fault....Hutchinson blocked all of our rushers single handedly every time...he was insane |
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
Its pretty much whoever wants it more this week...both coming off pretty big losses...

Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
You know we talk about the lack of turnovers all the time, but I wish Sean Taylor would go for the INT more than the "Jacked-up" highlight hit. When I see the ball going to the opposing team's WR, I see Taylor with his head down ready to lay the guy out, not looking up, trying to pick it off. Has anyone else notice that? I appreceate his hard hits, but the INT would be better, and just as disruptive. Plus it would definitley avoid the 15 yard Personal Foul. No Ref is going to throw a flag for pass interference or personal fouls, if you are going for the ball.
|
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
We had a chance for a couple of picks last night but our guys kept running into each other going for the ball. Taylor went up for one along the sideline and ran into someone, then there was that one down the middle of the field where Rogers and Taylor collided. Shit luck.

Yup, it just so happens that Luck smiles on us sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. Like early last season, Luck didn't smile on us with regard to turnovers. |
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
Just need to stay the course. Have faith in Gibbs and what he does and hope like hell they can get it rolling. Don't give up hope!!!! I am as dissappointed as anyone, but we can't dwell on the loss. I can bet the players after today's film study have already forgotten and moving toward next week. It's time for us to the same.

Well last year the Cowboys had a Monday night home game against us and on top of that it was supposed to be a special night for them with their Ring of Honor celebrating the careers of Aikman, Smith, and Irvin. Things turned out ok for us |
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
WTF,...where was A. Carter at and Adam Archeleta, well, all I can say if he's the highest paid Saftey in the leauge we got F**ked, this defense is going to be sad, if they cant get to a 38 yr old QB, Randle El looked good, and Moss was Moss, but what happen to Highlight reel Brandon Lloyd, I watched this game, thinking we were going to drag the Vikings....and we couldnt be the snot out of a sick kid,....I think its time to pull the plug on Brunell, he's arm seems like a noodle, and those throwing passes to the side, that was so last year...........I was going to spend 250 bucks to get good seat and go see them play the Texans,.........Not yet

Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
Carlos Rogers covering either Owens or Glenn after his performance against the Vikings has me worried. I don't see our secondary shutting down both of those guys on every play, so the only solution is to get a hell of a rush on Bledsoe and make him screw up.
|
Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
Pressure on Dallas' O-line will be key... our front four should have an easier time dealing with the cowboys than with Hutch and Birk... Our linebackers are going to have to sit back a little bit if Springs is still out... then again, if we still can't contain the pass, GW may incorporate some aggressive LB schemes to rattle Bledsoe.

Re: Prospects verus Cowgirls after Viking shambles?
surprise, bad teams (like the 49ers) don't move DE's to OLB when they can play DE :/
a lot of people were down on arch... hopefully both step up soon. |
