Historic and Weird Rivalry. Redskins have the momentum. Cowboys still Win.

I hope all you Skins fans will have the guts to post on my thread "How Bout Them Cowboys!!", that I will start about a minute after the Cowboys massacre your sad sack redskins.

Seriously though, This game has me nervous. This rivalry seems to go in streaks, and right now you guys have the mojo on your side. Add to that the injuries you have and that just spells trouble.

It is a weird rivalry. When Dallas went 1-15 in Jimmy Johnsons first year you all know who the one victory was against.

Even though your owner is keeping Tom Cruise's knob shiny you guys still might win.

Even though you guys haven't actually WON a SuperBowl since the Nixon administration you guys still have a chance in this crazy rivalry.

Even though you have made a second level safety - Archuleta - as overpaid as any player in the history of the League, you Foreskins fans still might win on Sunday.

Even though your defense now consists of Taylor, Washington, Two tackles and a bunch of guys, you have a chance of winning.

Even though...... Aw, who am I kidding.

DALLAS WILL SLAUGHTER YOU LOSERS ON SUNDAY NIGHT!

5Rings, did you write anything for the thread? I see the thread title but I don't see anything written in the message body. Does anyone else see anything?

that is absolutely the funniest thing i have ever read. You are just kidding youself. Just make sure your whack ass o-line gives drew " I fold up like a chair after one hit" bledsoe time to throw the ball.

There are a lot of Cowboy fans that want you guys to knock our Starting QB out of the game....

I get the sense that you have a lot of Skins fans that want to see Mr Campbell. Maybe we can make a deal? WE KNOCK OUT Brunell, you knock out Bledsoe and we can move on to the next chapter of this rivalry.

Now that would be interesting. I really wonder who would enjoy success earlier if given the start?

Regardless of who wins, I am going to laugh my ass off after your team totally implodes due to a T.O. explosion. Your organization has got to be the stupidest one in the league. Who is going to be dumb enough to pay T.O. $8M to destroy their franchise?

It will be a good game on Sunday Night. Skins win it tight. I was at the Vikes game and just re-watched the game last night. Saw a few things that I didn't see on Monday (just a little drunk), I like our chances and our team this year. 5rings you talk alot of smack for a team who wants their backup to start after one loss. 724 do you really want to find out the answer to that question?

HAIL!!!!

Well Hellllooooo Sheriff! How is the day treating you?

If you want to say 'I told you so!' regarding TO, then you have to wait until he actually does something.

something besides breaking tackles and making plays that is...

Getcha popcorn ready.......

No. I think Brunell can give us more wins than Campbell, right now. He didn't lose the game for us Monday night, whereas Bledsoe did.

I agree 724! I never trusted cling-ons (Klingons?) either!

For 5Rings, we will see. I expect a continuation of last year's dis-mantling of your "Ring-O-anna". No honor in getting a beat-down, huh!

I noticed your trash talk involved more about our storied franchise than yours! Is it Warpaint or feather(s) envy?

Man, I love the Redskins, but jeebus, some people take their sports obsessions to another level. 5RINGS entertains me. I remember last year when he came here prior to the Monday night game. We didn't see him for a while after that...

Why are Dallas fans so in love with Romo? He still hasn't proven anything. We're not in love with Campbell so much as we don't really trust Brunell (even though some of us do). Romo plays an entire preseason game against second and third stringers and already he's anointed the next Aikman? Gimme' a break.

So you're BRAGGING about your team having one of the worst seasons in NFL history?

Now I understand how someone can be a Cowboys fan...it requires the person to be delusional and a bit nuts.

Re: Historic and Weird Rivalry. Redskins have the momentum. Cowboys still Win.

Argh. See, this is why you can't bring up ancient history because you can qualify it a ZILLION times. Just go with last season and be done with it. If the Cowboys sweep US this year, I won't be like, "Well, remember when we swept YOU the season before." That just makes it unfun and boring. When you win, that's how you get the bragging rights for the season. Otherwise, it just gets old and boring.

TheMalcolmConnection 09-15-2006 11:44 AM

Re: Historic and Weird Rivalry. Redskins have the momentum. Cowboys still Win.

Not only what we've mentioned above, I bet ALL they'll show is LAST YEAR'S highlights, namely two bombs to Santana Moss. If the Cowboys sweep the Redskins, all they'll show NEXT year is the Cowboys highlights. They're not going to show the bombs to Moss, because NO ONE WILL CARE that year.

If you have the slightest bit of sanity, series records or World Championships should not help you sleep at night after a loss if you REALLY care about the team. Because I guarantee that REAL fans don't sit at home after their team missed the playoffs and are like, "Goddamn it feels good to have won five rings."

Re: Historic and Weird Rivalry. Redskins have the momentum. Cowboys still Win.

LOL nice burn TMC.

This game will be a war just like the rest of the Skins Boys games.

I think the Redskins win, and I'm not going to go all homer on you. I'll give you a legit reason, 5Rings. The Vikings have an absolutely beastly offensive line. Matt Birk is back to being one of the best centers in the league now that he's finally healthy again. Hutchinson is the best offensive guard in football, maybe one of the best offensive lineman of all time. And Bryant McKinnie has turned into a top-flight left tackle. They handled the 'Skins' defensive front. Your team's line absolutely will not. Cornelius Griffin and Andre Carter are going to be in Bledsoe's face all night. And Julius Jones is going to run absolutely nowhere.

Our secondary is our biggest liability right now. TO and Glenn have the potential to do damage. But trust me, our big guys up front won't give Bledsoe the time.

Hard fought game. A big battle. Another chapter in the rivalry. But the Skins win the turnover battle as Bledsoe is pressured into INTs and/or fumbles on sacks. Skins win 17-16.

TheMalcolmConnection 09-15-2006 11:58 AM

Re: Historic and Weird Rivalry. Redskins have the momentum. Cowboys still Win.

I'd like to think so, but I have this feeling that stupid ass slant to TO will be open all day.

But as much as I think that, I also think that Rogers just had a bad game last week and will step in front of one of those slants and take it to the house.

Not True TMC.

I came after that ...ahem....Monday night game. And I stayed.

I called your team as a playoff team when they were 5-5.

I took my lumps when you guys pasted us 35-7 in D.C.

Can't call me fair weather.....

Re: Historic and Weird Rivalry. Redskins have the momentum. Cowboys still Win.

Strictly for 5Rings:

Andy Farkas, Turk Edwards, and Sammy Baugh, led the Redskins to NFL titles in 1937 and 1942, and the three SBs HOF Coach Gibbs won with three different QBs, gives our storied franchise five as well, and a lengthier history.

We've got 5, you've got 5. But did I mention we've got a HOF Coach with a jacket of gold?

TheMalcolmConnection 09-15-2006 01:37 PM

Re: Historic and Weird Rivalry. Redskins have the momentum. Cowboys still Win.

But what's MOST important is that we won both last year. If we win both this year, I don't want to see ANY Cowboy fan saying anything about five rings or how they owned us in the late nineties and early two-thousands. It's all about last season and the present. That's all that matters. Those Super Bowls in the 90s weren't relevant for the Skins or the Cowboys last year, so let's keep that as part of history that you're proud of for a team, it's definitely NOT something you can talk trash with.

Because THOSE teams are not the teams playing this Monday. It's the same Cowboys who got swept last year by the Redskins BOTH times. It's not Aikman, Smith or Irvin. It's not Rypien or Monk.

The winner will get their bragging rights at about eleven o' clock Monday night.

withthe way bledsoe looked sitting on the sidelines during the second half, cowboys fans better hope he sat out of practice all this week. In fact, he should probably sit out of pregame warmups, because that back's not looking too good.

I loved LA. It hurt to see him go, but his legs were shot. He couldn't block if his man moved laterally with any quickness at all.

I think everyone is all excited about ROmo because he is more mobile than Bledsoe (so are most people under 45) and the O Line has yet to prove itself. So the thinking is that he could avoid the rushers that our line is going to let through.

I don't know that an unsigned FA from Eastern Fricking Illinois is the second coming. What I would love to see from Romo is some mop up duty this year and next and then try for the starting spot.

Romo has done squat in the L.

Re: Historic and Weird Rivalry. Redskins have the momentum. Cowboys still Win.

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs has ruled running back Clinton Portis out for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Gibbs says Portis didn't practice today and -- quote -- "If a guy doesn't practice, he's not going to play."
Gibbs says Ladell Betts, T.J. Duckett and Rock Cartwright will be the running backs against the Cowboys.
Portis has been downgraded from questionable to doubtful on the injury report, with Gibbs citing soreness from the pounding Portis took from playing in the season opener against Minnesota on Monday night.
But the announcement by Gibbs took Portis by surprise, saying that he thought it was a game-time decision and that his "bag's packed and ready to go to Dallas."
Last week, Portis spent several days downplaying his chances to make the season opener, but rushed for 39 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings.
