Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
Whenever you set a NFL record, it's worthy of it's own thread. Too bad I have to start it 2 1/2 hours after the game but oh well. I'm sure the haters will still hate, but for one afternoon you have to admit he played a great game. It's hard to complete 22 straight even in Madden let alone against a real NFL defense, but I guess real NFL defense is debateable. ;)
Regardless, let's keep this as a positive Mark Brunell thread for once. I know it might be hard, but you guys can do it. Congrats to Mark Brunell! 22 straight completions. A NFL record. |
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
Congrats Mark! way to prove the doubters, including myself, wrong! I didn't think you were capable of such a feat.
|
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
Loving these POSITIVE threads Matty PLEASE continue.....:)
He did grt job today. Thats a Saunders offense right there....Trent never that grt.. just keep ball moving when you have to....EXCELLENT JOB mark. |
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
Good building block for Mark. I was thinking, in retrospect, that this game will hopfully prove to be a building block for Brunell. Today, we saw a lot of short to mid-range completions. I think as he get's comfortable with this aspect of the offense and playbook, we'll see some shots down the field more. Not a ton, but we'll see more I think next week.

Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
congrats to mark and the rest of the offense... big test next week against jax. i hope they are ready for a very stout defensive front...
|
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
As much as he has been driving us crazy he certainly deserves a whole lot credit. The man can take a punch with the best of them He has heart. Congrats Mark!

Yes!! BIG test next week...But i will give Mark his props this week for sure...(Semi-Brunell fan here) cant say i wasn't thinking about Jason and still am...but hard to decide to change even with bad showing vs Jacksonville's awesome D...hopefully wont be an issue. |
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
I saw him throw some passed down the middle ...and i do Congratulate Mr Brunnell...and it seems he hung in there longer ...nothing negative for this thread..but congrats

Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
Good for you Mark Brunell! Congrats!
|
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
good job mark. keep it up
|
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
Congrats to the whole team for a much-needed and much-deserved victory. D played better and they will only continue to improve when Springs returns. Portis and Betts were awesome. Brunell played a good, ball control offense, though it was almost entirely dink passes. Still, he got the job done and that's what counts.
Good game plan by both GW and AS. I hope this proves to be a confidence builder. But they will need to open up the offense against the tougher opponents. All in all, I'm one happy Skins fan tonight and very happy for the players too. |
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
Yeah, congratulations Mark, we of course all knew you had it in you ;-)
Found myself cheering each consecutive completion, cheering when the roughing the passer call kept his streak alive and feeling a little sad with the first incompletion (like 22/23 is that bad, lol). |
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
That was quite a feat today by Brunell, congrads. Keep firing and good things will happen. Twentytwo straight, and I thought I had seen it all.

Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
brunell...LEGEND
|
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
Congrats to Brunell.
No doubt this is a very impressive stat line for #8, but did any of his passes actually go more than 5yrds (through the air I mean) because all I saw were some screens and dump offs. I'm really not trying to piss all over his accomplishment but I missed the first half of the game and just wanted to know if he passed down field all that much. |
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
I'm glad to say I was one of the FEW on this site that wasn't bashing him last week!!! Congrats Mark!!!

A lot of short, dink passes all day long, but against Houston it worked. |
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
how could u forget the brunell to patten awesome catch! wasnt the best pass but was an awesome catch, and was prolly 20 yards in the air
|
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
He hit Patten on a nice one down the middle for 25, not sure if that was after the streak though.
|
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
Pretty sure that it was during the streak. Fantastic catch!
Way to go, Mark! Hail to the Redskins.... |
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
yeah the pass to Patton was one of the streak passes.
|
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
Good job, MB. Glad to see it. Now lets build on that for next week!!!

Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
I'm a fan of Brunell. I think he did a great job today. But, let's get amped for j-ville coming to town. Just think Mark, here is your chance to pay back the organization that gave up on you. Again good job and let's build off of this game. Set a goal for no more loses from this point on. Just believe baby! You got heart and smarts Brunell.
|
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
He's god awful. We should have scored 50 points but he held us back!
Just kidding. That is the kind of stuff that will open up other aspects of the offense against other teams. If we can keep Portis healthy I would expect a continued improvement over the next several weeks. Next week will be a real test. Jax is kicng butt D-wise. Congrats Marky Mark. |

Like I said before, I didn't get to see any of the first half b/c I was driving home from a camping trip. |
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
For any doubters out there, take a look around the league. There are a number of weak teams out there every year. There are also a number of West coast offenses that play them. Keep this in mind when we talk about Brunnels accomplishment today.
His accuracy was impressive, even for a short game. He didn't one hop any of his passes like the 2004 MB version. Also, kudos to the guys catching the balls. How many drops do we see other teams make every week? |
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
does this silence the folks calling for brunnells head? hopefully he gained some confidence from that performance. It all points to next weekend. We need to address our penalties though....cant afford that many penalties againts a GOOD jacksonville team.

Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
Texans are a good team to break records on.
that said, i was very disappointed we didn't see passes in the air over 30yds (before YAC). what gives? |

Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
Gotta admit, he played well today. If he can keep that up I might even become a Mark Brunell supporter.

exactly. a very conservative gameplan against whats considered one of the worst teams in football. we should've seen yardage records broken today. |
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
I notice Peyton Manning didn't set the record the previous week against Houston. I know that Houston's defense didn't give up this many points to those high-flying Eagles.
I'm not putting on a clean shirt so I can meet Brunell at the airport with a box of candy. I'm just saying that he had a great game in what was (for three quarters, anyway) a loud and hostile environment. |
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
I, saden, congratulate myself for not doubting Brunell. Congratulations to Brunell too for proving that he is still a talent QB who can help this team win.

Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
I am not even going to look up who posted on this thread and also called for his head last week.
I will be happy with him if they beat Jacksonville. Any one of the three could have led them to 1-3. |
Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!
Congrats Mark-- let's keep it rolling next week.

Yeah, I was going to say, Brunell had all day to throw. Apparently the Texans coaches didn't watch much film from the Dallas game. He was rarely under duress. I give credit to Saunders as well, he really had the D off balance, threw on 1st down, called for quick passes, (which would have helped against Dallas) and designed plays for Brunell to get the ball out of his hands as quickly as possible. Call it "hating" if you want, but Mark clealy got a bug up his ass this week with all the talk of being too old and washed up. He was bound and determined to shut some people the hell up. Let's just say, he got exactly the right opponent to help with that. Still, here's some credit where credit is due, against a bad team or not, it was the most accurate performance he's ever given. Now let's see how he does against a ferocious Jaguar D. That could turn out to be the story of the season: He's brilliant against inferior opponents, but ineffective to downright atrocious against equal or better talent. |
