ESPN is saying it's from a reaction to pain killers for his broken hand.

He has his own publicist? Wow, is he that much off an ass or that much of a super start to require his own publicist?

Re: T.O. taken to hospital

Espn is now reporting that he is going in for a emergency Ego reduction surgery. He is getting half his ego removed so he only has twice as much has everyone else. Normally I don't ever say something wrong about sayone who is in pain, injuried, etc, but I fell alright about this.

Yes, here's the link: Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas | WFAA.com

TO tried to commit suicide. It's in the police report.

Anyone buying this BS?! No way, Jose. It's just another publicity stunt. He'll "deny" it and it'll be the buzz of all sports-talk stations for the next two weeks.

It's just a matter of time before he gets married in drag a la Dennis Rodman. Maybe he'll up the ante and get married to a sheep.

Rediculous....

Re: T.O. taken to hospital

I heard T.O told the cops he tried to commit suicide. This story is getting very weird.

According to a Dallas police report obtained by News 8, Dallas Cowboys star receiver Terrell Owens attempted suicide Tuesday night. The report says Owens was depressed and reportedly took prescription pain pills. A woman companion states that she observed him putting two pills in his mouth. According to the police narrative, the woman said the prescription of 40 pills was filled on September 18 and—until Tuesday—Owens had taken only five pills. The police report said Owens was asked if he had taken the rest of the prescription; Owens said, "Yes." The Dallas Cowboys said they have no comment on the reports, nor do they have any news conference scheduled.

Re: T.O. taken to hospital

And the circus begins!

Now a serious question: Is this a violation of the substance abuse policy? Should TO be suspended for four games?

If so, I propose a couple of defenses for our good pal:

1) "I thought they were M&M's"
2) "I was too stoned to know what I was doing"
3) "Rosenhaus told me they were magic touchdown pills"
4) "I didn't take all of the pills - I've been selling them to the O-Line for a profit"
5) "Parcells is really stressing me out - blame him"

My heart burn with TO has always been that here is someone with incredible gifts that allow him to play the best game there is -- and he doesn't take care of it.

Clearly, he has some demons. I feel bad for him, but I really feel bad for his family.

Re: T.O. taken to hospital

Alright, now this is getting weird.

I'm not going to assume these are false reports, so I'm going to take it as true....

and if the case is he seriously tried this....then my prayers are with him, as much as I've never liked the guy...this is very serious.

Guys, if this is true, then I think this is no laughing matter. Let's back off the jokes until we know if he's full of scheisse or if it's as serious as initially reported.

Good looks on changing the title. Surely a separate thread would have started.

Exactly. Depression is a very serious issue, and when you get so depressed that suicide seems like the best option then whatever jersey you wear or whatever team you root for is irrelevant

Don't worry, there's still time.

The over/under is 1 hour until another thread is posted.

Any takers?

This is all very serious, but it's hard to keep a straight face with all the hilarious new CP avatars...

Weird story. Didn't expect this kind of meltdown in Dallas.

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide

I wonder how Jerry Jones feels this morning. I bet he wishes he could take a few pain-killers.

Seriously, though, T.O. needs some time off. T.O. needs a T.O. He's a danger to himself and he could be a danger to others.

Because this is an amazingly selfish and self centered act.

That he failed suggests that he was TRYING TO GET ATTENTION as opposed to actually get the job done.

Yeah, i think we all expected TO would cause problems down there by doing something really selfish, but not this (if it's true).

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide

thats wierd because TO stuck me as alot of things, but never depressed or suicidle. this is serious and i dont think it is appropriate to make jokes about this. if u do make jokes than your fucked up in the head. i personally enjoyed watching this man play. he made the games a little more fun.

its reported that he took 35 painkillers! they said he had only taken 5 before yesterday, and that last night the bottle was empty. so that means he took 35

That's true. Attempts with pills are usually considered as being almost more of a cry for help rather than an actual attempt to go through with it. That's not to say this isn't extremely serious.

My eyes are a little welled up with all the well-wishing in this thread.

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't feel sympathetic for the F*cktard. I don't want to see him dead, of course, but could give a crap less if he wants to injure himself.

~~~~~~~~~
No one has answered the substance abuse question - is this a violation? Do any of you crazy rule experts know?
Meds can have a very adverse reaction like that, especially if he was on a narcotic. What he was on could have easily effected his mood and even sent him into a depression.
I really don't think this is a laughing matter or a time to do anything but hope that he has a quick and complete recovery.
Even if it turns out to be completely false it will still be huge. They sound the emergency broadcast system alarm when TO sneezes, so this is going to be insane.
If that's the case the guy has serious, serious issues. Bigger than we could have imagined.
The motive is irrelevant, let's just hope the guy can get things straightened out.
I don't see what could be false at this point. EMS reported he was still trying to stuff pills in his mouth after they arrived. They had to wrestle the pills away.
That makes two of us. This wouldn't be the first time the media has jumped all over a story only to find out it wasn't true.
Point it - it doesn't matter. Media gets its story either way.
