Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
Springs Returns to Practice
Redskins.com is reporting that Springs may play this Sunday and that he "felt fine" in practice. Discuss, cheer, etc. |
Re: Springs to Play Against Titans?
All I have to say is YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
Uhhh, I don't know. I'd rather keep him fresh for one more week against a team we SHOULD have no trouble beating, and have him ready for the horse race in Indy.
|
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
Rest him (Huh?) until the Colts game, for sure.

I was just going to post the same thing, glad he's ok to play, but we should be able to beat the titans without him,i say hold him out for another week |

Exactly -- I think the same thing sort of happened with Portis. The team, and maybe Clinton himself was in a rush to get back on the field for the opener, had 10 carries for 39 yards, and then was out for the Dallas game. |
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
Professional athletes do not need to be rested if they are cleared to play. I'm not advocating a hurry up to the field approach. If he says he's ready and the trained medical staff says that he's ready, then let's go.
Of course, with all the talk about how his absence seems to be the major reason that our defense is weak, he better make a huge impact or else. |
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
We need Springs when he can play. We cant even be sure that we are going to win this week. We can hope and think we should win but I am not going to mail it in as a W. Who knows what Redskins team will show up? Who knows what Titans team will show up? The bottomline is we need wins to get in the playoffs. We have not got many wins without him so we need him this week. He will still be a little rusty playing the Colts lets hope he can get most of rust off this week.
|
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
i just hope he can be healthy from now on, if he really is healthy.
it doesn't sound like he thinks he is 100% yet, but thats just me |
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
A one legged gimpy Springs is far better than what we got right now, but my vote is for keeping him out until Indy. Without him in that game we have less than no chance.
|
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
If he is ready, then he is ready.. bring him on!
|
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
If he's the LEAST BIT questionable, toss his ass down for a week.
|
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
This is football. No need to treat him like a fragile piece of glass. If he can play he is best off playing. It is going to take a certain amount of time for him to get back into a groove. I think it'd be better for some of that time to come against a team like the Titans rather than the Colts.

He is going to be the LEAST BIT questionable for the rest of his career. Time for him to ball. |

I LOVE FRPLG! He's my fav... from now on!!!!!!!!! :) |
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
On the other hand he hasn't played a game all year and this could be a perfect game to get him back up to speed w/ the defense and just get his feel back. I think it's better to get a little work in against Tennessee and then be ready for Indy instead of going into the Indy game w/o playing at all and being challenged off the bat by Peyton

Now you're thinking!!!!!!!!! :) |
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
Considering the passing prowess shown by Tennessee, Rogers better be ready to look for the ball and catch some passes.
|
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
If he's still feeling a bit of discomfort after friday, sit him against Tennessee. I'd rather not risk it against a team like Tennessee, because we are definitely gonna need him for the game against Indy.
|
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
best news i have heard all week. even if he's not 100% lets line him up and dust of the cobwebs and get him ready to cover marvin harrison.
|
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
I'd only put him in on light play, as the nickle back so he can get readjusted rather than have him going up against Drew Bennett, who could burn Springs if Springs wasn't 100%

Exactly what I was about to say - play him as the nickel & have him ready to replace Wright if the game's tight. |

I'm down with that. Limit him to about 20 plays and against there third guy. I really think it is worth the risk to get him more up to speed in time for Indy. |
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
If he's good to go this is a good week to ease him back in and let him get a handful of snaps. I just hope he really is "good to go".
|
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
I'm going to go ahead and cheer. If our defense works like it did during the Bengals preseason game, then I think our time has finally arrived.
|
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
We should know better today if there is any soreness from the work he took yesterday. Hopefully he is back but I am in agreement with the majority...put him in the nickel packages and get his feet wet and ready to go for next week.

No way! He needs the reps. Get the rust out. Play him! |
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
In short, I think what (many) people are saying is:
If we need him to win this game (highly unlikely), play him, otherwise play him enough so he's up to speed as soon as he can be without being hurt. |
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
If he's 100%, he's in there smacking Vince Young around with corner blitzes, and making Drew Bennett look like his less attractive girl cousin.
If he's not, then shut it down and bring him back against the Colts. |
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
id rather not risk re-injury against one of the worst teams in the nfl...

I wouldn't under-estimate the Titians. They have a decent defense and Vince Young is eventually going to have a big week. Let's make sure its not against the Redskin. If Springs is ready to go, suit him up. |

i dont know about vince young eventually having a big week. he has been really, really bad. the titans are weak everywhere except linebackers, and their rbs are decent. |
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
I sorta agree with you. We should be able to beat them without Springs, so I don't want him to get injured. But at the same time, I want our players to take nothing for granted, and that if he gives us a better chance at winning than I would like to see him play, if he can. Plus, if he is healthy, I would think that this would be a great game for him to get his "game mentality" going.

That weak defense held the mighty Colts to 14 points. I saw bits and pieces of that game and the Titians were outplaying the Colts the better part of that game. The Colts came back very late in that game. If the Titians can shutdown Peyton Manning, shutting down Mark Brunnel is a piece of cake. |
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
Furthur, the Redskins do have an advantage that the Colts don't have and that is a very good running game. Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts should be featured this week.
|
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
I'd be surprised to see him out there this week. Given that he tweaked his leg last time, and that Hall just got reinjured on a surgically repaired groin, I bet they'll be cautious. Glad to hear he's making some progress, though.

i saw some of that game too. it reminded me alot of the skins/ giants game. the colts had a monstrous advantage in yardage, just couldn't get the ball in the end zone. to say the titans were outplayed the colts, well.... anyway, the skins should be able to run all over the titans. easy victory, with the defense doing enough to confuse the rookie |

I don't consider this to be a cakewalk but last Sunday's Colts/Titans lends credence to the phrase "Any given Sunday". We should be in control this game. The Colts aren't as hot as predicted this year. They've played some very close games versus some very bad teams. |
Re: Springs Returns to Practice, May Play Against Titans
People keep bringing up the fact the Titans played the Colts close, but what about some of their other games?
They lost by 7 to the Jets, got hammered by the Chargers 40-7, lost a close one to the awful Dolphins, and then got rocked by Dallas. I don't think last week is a guarantee they're going to play the Redskins tough. They could just as easily end up another blowout victim. |
