I Love Joe Gibbs!!!!!!!!!
I am out of retirement. CPDAMAN, persuaded me to come out of retirement. After two days to reflect on the Titans game, I have a change of tune. I love Joe Gibbs. I realized, that while I was crying like a bitch about the Redskins sucking for fifteen years. Then it came to me, we were in the playoffs last year. It has not been fifteen years, it has been a few months since Gibbs brought us a winner. So to all thoise doughters, if we dont win this year, Gibbs will get us back to being a winner. The only thing to fear is not fear itself, it is Joe Gibbs retiring.

well i'm not a DOUBT-ER,
JK but after a few days to settle my self after a horrible loss, i still love the skins. no joke yesterday i had a dream that we went 9-1 to finish the season, only other loss, the saint. it was wierd, troy aikman was going over the redskins season on the screen while the skins were getting ready to play a playoff game at home Vs. the panthers. maybe it is the real thing like deja voo. maybe not who knows |
Re: I Love Joe Gibbs!!!!!!!!!
dude, anyway you can email that dream? that would be too sweet

Re: I Love Joe Gibbs!!!!!!!!!
I am not a Joe Gibbs Hater or Doubter or whatever, but I will say that I will be hard on a team when they don't play well... and we didn't.
I just want to say this: Unconditional love comes from mommy and daddy... and thats about it. It does not and should not come from fans. When you lose, you lose love. When we have to hear this shit all week... so do you... We as fans follow a symbol, or a city, or a nostalgic feeling we get when we see certain colors. As passionate as we can be, that's basically what it boils down to. However, for Brunell (not picking on just him here, but he had the quote I want to use) and other players to say, "I'm sure we feel the loss more than the fans, we're the ones that are out there..." and whatnot... That shit boils my blood. That symbol that represents to you guys a paycheck, is a symbol that I have been flying my whole life out of passion and emotion, and because of me and thousands of people just like me, your paycheck is astronomical. As a matter of fact, sir when a bunch of guys who get grossly overpaid to play a game I would play for free (and do every chance I get... risking my family going without eating if I were to get injured) don't perform as they should, You Get Fucking Booed... It should sting.... It should be embarassing... Just as embarassing as it is for me to wear half of my fucking wardrobe in public, since it was used to pay for that piss poor performace..... Having said that, I am a huge skins fan... I always have been and will be until I die, or until outside pressure forces us to change the team name and mascott, and then I'll switch to the Cardinals... j/k ... but at the end of the day I'm just as big of a fan as some hippie who turns a blind eye to underachieving and should not be corn-holed into not being a True Skins Fan because I don't like what I'm seeing when we suck. And just because we don't suck next week, doesn't mean we didn't suck last week, and the eternal optimists weren't any more right about shit than anyone else... Peace... |

Re: I Love Joe Gibbs!!!!!!!!!
Finally! Someone with a bit of perspective. I was in CVS this evening, and the girl at the counter asked for my CVS card. Well, my card is on my key chain - which has a Washington Redskins symbol on it. She looked at it and said, "I love the Redskins too!" I told her, "yeah hope we win again real soon.." and she looked at me and said, "oh don't worry, the Redskins are going to just fine.." I left CVS thinking...wow ya know..here's a young girl (probably still in high school) who has loads of confidence in our team! That made me feel proud to be a Redskins fan!

Re: I Love Joe Gibbs!!!!!!!!!
It’s great to see some positive thoughts finally creeping in. It’s time for us all to dig down deep and come together as a whole.
I have to admit though, that I am completely and utterly disgusted with some of our fans at this moment. This is not a direct criticism of anyone on this board, but rather a general opinion regarding comments I have observed over the past few days from various sources. Never in my 24 years of being a Redskins fan have I witnessed such a total lack of respect for our organization and each other as well. The comments about Coach Gibbs are the ones that have bothered me the most. Most of these comments come from individuals who are young and have no clue as to who he is and what he has sacrificed both professionally and personally for this team. By no means do I think Coach Gibbs is perfect, but he is someone who deserves more respect than he is receiving right now. Leave the comments about his personal life out. They are not warranted and it makes you look foolish when you say them. Furthermore, I don’t believe that Joe Gibbs has to prove anything to anyone, period. There is a reason why he is the coach and we are not. If we truly listened to some of the negative comments coming from some of the fans right now, then we should just go ahead and quit. Screw it all. Turn in our cards. Let’s build a big bonfire, throw in our jerseys and be done with it, all the while booing our players and calling for the heads of every staff member who wears the Redskins logo. Perhaps we should abandon the sport of football altogether, because according to them, this is the end of the world. Seriously, has everyone forgotten what team we’re a fan of? It’s the Washington Redskins. We will always be considered the underdog. It doesn’t matter what we do. This team has always struggled with consistency, but the one constant our team could always depend on was the fans. We always showed up no matter what the circumstances. This team has a long and valuable history. We’ve been here since the beginning. When Coach Gibbs says we are the greatest fans in the world, I believe him. I attribute much of our frustration because of the society we live in today. Instant gratification is the norm. No one likes to work or sacrifice for anything anymore. It’s all about me. Hear me! Love me! I am entitled! No you’re not. You’re a fan damn it. Act like one – through the good and the bad. I am in no way implying that we aren’t allowed to be critical, but the sheer nastiness of some of our fans’ attitudes right now is ridiculous. I fear that if we continue down this path, then we will truly reap what we sow. So let’s stick to arguing the X’s and O’s and leave the other stuff at home. I believe our time is coming. I have no doubt about that. If not this season, then the next. Whatever happens I will wear my colors proudly and I will never hold my head in shame. Call me a dreamer, a homer, or anything you like. It will not dissuade me from my opinion nor cause me to change my position. Because ultimately for me, whether this team sinks to the lowest gutter or stands proudly with a trophy in hand, I will be here supporting them all the way. It’s the tough times that make you stronger, tests what you are made of and makes the victories all the more sweeter. |
Re: I Love Joe Gibbs!!!!!!!!!
well said Lady Brave. I find myself just flabbergasted after our losses this year. But I still Love my Skins, for better of worse.Im all for sharing thoughts about what went wrong, what to fix and so on. But personal attacks keep me from reading and responding here or elsewhere. There is simply no place for it. Trust me I understand and feel the same frustrations as everyone one else, but once it gets off the x's & o's and attacks on Gibbs personal life and beliefs start...oh man! I think those people are worthless pieces of sh!t and DO NOT deserve to be Washington Redskins fans.

There have been some random comments here and other places outside this board. They are coming from a small amount of people, but I don't think we should rehash them. The whole thing is stupid anyway. We need to get over ourselves, and get it together. Me included. I sometimes have to check myself after a loss as well. Here's to kickin some Colts butt and bringing home a win. |
Re: I Love Joe Gibbs!!!!!!!!!
Lady B, your monster tirade is a thing of beauty and long overdue. Joe 1 is a hero to all that were fortunate enough to be fans at that time, and rightly so. Maybe all the pissin', and moanin' is from .........fans after that era. It is a disgrace.
Joe 1 teams were about comraderie, chemistry, character. Not always SB champs but generally in the hunt. If time was left on the clock, and JT was behind center, or Ryp, you knew we were gonna' do it! Without a doubt, Joe 2 is trying to replicate that same type of LONG TERM winning program. I am impatient as the next person, and more than most. I have players I really like, but non do I hold higher than the team, and there are NO sacred cows. Joe 2, as Joe 1 does what he HONESTLY believes puts the team in the best position to win, ALWAYS WIN! NEVER GIVE UP!! I can get behind that plan as well. Am I frustrated? Well beyond that. When we are obvioously out of the playoffs, I would like to start the Jason Campbell era. (However, I don't run the team. There are resaons why Joe does.) Until then, and regardless, Joe is the Gen. Patton of the NFL world. Is he always correct? No. I believe in him. He has demonstrated he is well worth that trust, time and time, again. He will right this ship. Until then, maybe some of you backstabbers, and cry-babies can man-up and support your team. Be part of the cure, rather than the disease. Thankyou for your continued support. |

First of all, I don't think I've seen one person hating on Gibbs personally, or even questioning him, other than the Brunell situation. I haven't heard anyone make a comment close to "Gibbs sucks". We all love coach Gibbs, but that doesn't mean that we're not allowed to question his decisions. And as far as him building for the long term, I just heard from his mouth on Redskins radio, that people are saying that he has a four year plan, and is building slowly. Gibbs said that isn't the case at all, and he's only concerned with winning the next game. He doesn't care about next season, until next season. |
Re: I Love Joe Gibbs!!!!!!!!!
I think you should take off your rose colored glasses. There has been an shocking amount of anti-Gibbs rhetoric (even for skins "fans"). Your paraphrase may or may not be accurate. However, I'm sure his intent is "yes, the next game gets the most immediate attention"
|
Your paraphrase may or may not be accurate. However, I'm sure his intent is "yes, the next game gets the most immediate attention"
I was looking for a transcript, but apparently they don't archive the radio show, at least not for the public. I'm sure someone else heard it though. He said the only thing he's concerned with is winning the next game, and that he has no "four year plan". I don't think that's a huge deal anyway, because we all know Gibbs isn't here for another 11 seasons. But you'd think if his concern was winning now, he'd fix something that's obviously broken... |
Re: I Love Joe Gibbs!!!!!!!!!
Honestly, I think Joe is somewhat baffled by the............how does one say it...........SUCKASSERY (thanx Matty) of the team this year. We all thought we would be laying waste to the division. Instead, we are waste. I think Joe is jumping through his ass trying to resurrect a competative team armed with the knowledge that time is almost gone for this year, and the road ahead grows more difficult. Winning is the only way to get the media and fans off his ass. I am totally confident Joe has a long term plan

Thankyou for your continued support.
I wasn't quite 10 when Gibbs won the last of his Super Bowls here in the first era. However, I was ecstatic upon his rehiring. Thusfar, I have been pretty critical of some of the things he's done. Does that meen I don't think he can coach? Not by any means. I think he's made a few mistakes. Brunell and Archuleta being the main ones so far. I have faith that Gibbs can win. However, I don't have faith in Brunell. When they lose and I think Brunell being replaced would help them play better, I'm going to say so. If everyone takes that as a shot at Gibbs, you're misinterpreting what I'm saying. I know Gibbs is a winner. I don't agree with the moves he makes all the time, but I give him the benefit of the doubt. Do I think Gibbs can coach em up? You're damn right I do. All that said...do I think this season is salvagable? I guess in theory it is. But if you ask me if it's gonna be salvaged? No. Not with the wack defense and the play of Mark Brunell. If people think that's disrespecting Gibbs, I'm not sure exactly what you would like me to say... |

Yes, your +1's that are all exactly the same are great additions to an actual football related topic... And where is he "bashing" Washington? All he said was he didn't think the season is salvagable. Other than that, he said he likes coach Gibbs. Get off your friggin high horse. |
Re: I Love Joe Gibbs!!!!!!!!!
not really...at least he was making a point...which runs in stark contrast to your response.
Look, just because people question the Skin's moves, doesn't mean they aren't fans. Gibbs, like everyone else, has made mistakes. Lets hope he corrects them moving forward. |

Wow...the way you support your arguments is crazy! That totally convinced me. I'll stop posting about how Joe Gibbs makes mistakes, then we can all sing Cumbaya and blow Joe Gibbs. Apparently that's what Redskins discussion is supposed to be...are you kidding me?! I'm sorry I think they should win football games. I didn't think that was a crime. What are we in China?! So, let me get this straight...we should never question Gibbs, not state the obvious, (cause the defense sucks) and not add our own opinions to the posts. Just regurgitate what Gibbs says to the media and that'll be our board. Awesome! I thought I came here for discussion. That would lead me to believe that people should have differing opinions. Without that, it's not a discussion. discussion - an act or instance of discussing; consideration or examination by argument, comment, etc., esp. to explore solutions; informal debate. Now I'm sorry if my knowing that in the NFL you can't win Super Bowls by not throwing the ball over 15 yards or playing defense offends you, but I'm going to continue to voice my opinion and if you don't like it there's an ignore option. You can make it so you don't have to see any of my posts. |

Re: I Love Joe Gibbs!!!!!!!!!
As I said before, I don't think Coach Gibbs is perfect and again, I don't believe that we aren't allowed to be critical. It's the fact that we have continually beat a dead horse on some of the issues at hand and "some" fans can think of nothing intelligent to say to add to the discussion. So they make classless, rude and demeaning comments about this organization all for the sake of being heard. For me, it's about whether or not we can at least appreciate what Coach Gibbs is trying to do and show him a certain amount of respect as the leader of this team.
|
Re: I Love Joe Gibbs!!!!!!!!!
I don't mean to piss anyone off. I just try to interject some positive thought and a little comedy to lighten the mood. In my opinion, we over analyze when we lose (beat a dead horse). But that’s just my opinion. I prefer to think of the good things about the Skins instead of always focusing on the bad. I don't take time to write long winded replies, because I like to keep it short and sweet. I love my Skins. It sucks when they lose, it feels great when they win. However, I do enjoy reading all of your replies and opinions, even though I tend to protect my Skins when I think they are being bashed (sorry guys). GO SKINS!

People get pissed when you bash them for being upset at the team and you say they aren't a real fan or whatever (which you seem to say to at least one person a day). With the exception of the few non-Skins fans on this site, I don't think any of us would spend our time reading or writing posts if we didn't love this team and want them to return to glory. Just stop taking critisms meant for how the team is performing so damn personally. |
