probowl

What redskins will make the probowl this year.I have 6 going to the probowl.
1 Lavar Arrington
2 Clinton Ports
3 Jon Jansen
4 Laveranues Coles
5 Sean Taylor
6 NFC Coach Joe Gibbs

SKINSnCANES 04-21-2004 12:48 PM

GIBBS!! take off Gibbs, that means we lost in the NFC Championship game, we're going to win that one! I dont see Jansen going because the probowl is kinda a pupularity contest and his name isnt as big around the league. Taylor or Winslow should go though.

skinsfanthru&thru 04-21-2004 01:04 PM

1-Arrington
2-Portis
3-Coles
4-Brunnel
5-Samuels
6-Springs
7-Thomas
8-Taylor or Winslow
would whoever wins the h-back spot be considered a rb or te in the pro-bowl voting? cuz that could be another person who goes if its te. and gibbs unless he miraculously gets us deep into the playoffs.

skinsfanthru&thru 04-21-2004 01:08 PM
GIBBS!! take off Gibbs, that means we lost in the NFC Championship game, we're going to win that one!
is that really how the pro bowl coaches r selected?
if so then rather have us going deep into the playoffs and Gibbs can just get the coach of the year award.

PSUskinsfan11 04-21-2004 01:16 PM

LaVar
Portis
Coles
Taylor
maybe randy thomas

but the sleeper is...........FRED SMOOT 2005 pro bowl baby don't sleep on that southern boy this is his break out year and we need to resign him!!!!!!!

i'm kinda torn between smoot having an awesome year or an above average one since he is entering his contracts final year.

MTK 04-21-2004 01:27 PM

Jansen never gets the recognition he deserves, at least not when it comes to the Pro Bowl.

SKINSnCANES 04-21-2004 01:28 PM

Smoot should do well this year. And yes the probowl coach is always the losers of the championship game.

Could Winslow get listed as a FB in the probowl voting? He would probably be listed as a TE but I wonder if he could be listed as that.

cpayne5 04-21-2004 01:37 PM

Ramsey - thats right, you heard me.
Portis
Coles
LA

I think the Oline will get a lot of recognition this year (Samuels, Thomas, Raymer, etc) with Portis back there and JG calling the plays.

JWsleep 04-21-2004 02:10 PM

If Brunell starts and Jansen plays well, he'll be in the probowl because he's guarding the weak side now. I figure with Bugel in the house, we could send 3 O linemen to the probowl: Jansen, Thomas, and, yes, Samuels. They're gonna rack up the run yards for Portis, and minimize the sacks in the max protcect scheme.

Also: Portis, Lavar, and Coles.

I figure the d will be sort of "no name" except for Lavar, unless we draft the defensive rookie of the year, Sean Taylor. Look for Lavar to get double-digit sacks in Williams agressive D.

SmootSmack 04-21-2004 02:56 PM

I think Jansen might finally get some recognition this year since he'll be protecting Brunell's blind side. I like all the choice mentioned, Coles, Portis, SMOOT!!!!, LaVar, etc. I'm going to add John Hall and Marcus Washington

But the real sleeper...Ade Jimoh!

SKINSnCANES 04-21-2004 03:02 PM

haha, another Ade Jimoh fan huh. I might add Randy Thomas to the probowl list, under Bugel he could be one of the best in the league.

Paintrain 04-21-2004 03:05 PM

Coles
Thomas
Hall
Arrington
Smoot
Portis

lifetimeskin 04-21-2004 05:02 PM

Good bets:
Arrington
Hall

Maybe:
Portis
1 OL

Daseal 04-21-2004 05:49 PM

I'm with Cpayne on this one. I also agree that Hall will go. I think Smoot has a shot, and provided we don't draft Winslow, watch out for MIke Sellers. I think whoever the Hback is in our offense will get a lot of recognition.

skinsfanthru&thru 04-21-2004 07:03 PM

if both remain healthy I think between the 2 corners, springs has the best chance for a real breakout year and a trip to the pro bowl. i think both have the chance for stellar years but a big part of me wants it too be springs cuz of the money we gave for a guy with a questionable health record, i'd like him to prove the critics wrong. plus we know atleast he's gonna be with the team for the next few years whereas smoot might look for #1 cornerback money even though he's not really at that level right now but might achieve it this season.

I forgot about John Hall.
Isn't it great to have a real kicker so you don't have to worry about that spot!

Pro Bowl predictions

Who will make the Pro Bowl for the Redskins this season?

I predict: Portis, Coles, Jansen, Arrington, Washington, and Smoot

Sleepers : Taylor, Springs, Barrow, and Thomas

MTK 06-11-2004 11:45 AM

Portis, Arrington, Coles and maybe Samuels

Big C 06-11-2004 12:10 PM

Pro Bowl Prediction
1 LaVar Arrington- His name is too recognizable for ppl not to vote him in
2 Michael Barrow- Led the NFC in tackles last 2 years, has very good chance to finally be recognized
3 C. Port.- Another 1500 yard season
4 Randy Thomas- Jansen would go, but no one knows who he is
5 Lavernaues Coles- 1500 recieving yards

Sleeper- Rod Gardner- Will finally live up to his potential with a more spread out offense

SKINSnCANES 06-11-2004 12:32 PM

Im going to add whoever starts at QB for us. I can only imagine with all our receivers, Cooley, and Portis that the QB will put up career numbers this year. I expect Portis to also have a ton of receptions, mainly from early in the year while all the blockign patterns are still getting worked out.

Dave Butz Baby! 06-11-2004 12:43 PM

Portis, Hall, Coles, Arrington, Smoot! and Jansen. With Jansen more than likely now covering the blindside, he should get far more recognition as the elite left tackles do now covering right handed QBs.

Sleepers: Washington, Taylor, Springs, and of course Jimoh.

GO ADE!!

SmootSmack 06-11-2004 12:44 PM

I think we could hit the special teams trifecta: Hall, Morton, Tupa

SKINSnCANES 06-11-2004 12:47 PM

special teams trifecta... wow, that would be a new twist to skins football. Last year we got the talent we need, along with Tupa this year. Now as long as we get the blockign set up then we're in business. I hope Hall goes because he breaks the record for extra points in a season, because that would mean plenty of touchdowns from our highpowered offense.

Dave Butz Baby! 06-11-2004 12:56 PM

I think the closest we came to a special teams trifecta was in 82. Mike Nelms (never met a fair catch he would ever call!) was in the Probowl for the third year in a row and Moseley was the NFL MVP (first and only kicker ever).

SKINSnCANES 06-11-2004 12:59 PM

Didnt we have Mitchell and Reggie Robbie in there at one point?

Dave Butz Baby! 06-11-2004 01:06 PM

Believe it or not, Mitchell has only been to one Pro Bowl, in 1995. Last time Roby was in was 1994 with the Skins, but was in two others as a Dolphin.

SKINSnCANES 06-11-2004 01:08 PM

Have we had a good punter since Roby? or is Tupa the first.

SmootSmack 06-11-2004 01:20 PM

Matt Turk made the Pro Bowl a couple of times

SKINSnCANES 06-11-2004 01:27 PM

well, we did have a good strech of years where punting was a big part of the game plan...hopefully Tupa will spend more time as 3rd string QB then punting this year.

Big C 06-11-2004 02:05 PM

i hate the turks for blowin the last playoff game we were in with the bad snap...

Dave Butz Baby! 06-11-2004 02:20 PM

I hated them for that too... until Dan Turk died suddenly.

SKINSnCANES 06-11-2004 02:30 PM

yea that was sad when that happened. I acutally forgot about it until you guys just mentioned it.

cpayne5 06-11-2004 03:07 PM
i hate the turks for blowin the last playoff game we were in with the bad snap...
I don't think anyone really expected the kicker to make the FG even if it had been a good snap and hold. The kicker was Brett Conway (i'm pretty sure) and his accuracy was suspect as the distance increased. If I remember correctly, it was atleast a 45 yd kick. Just seems to me that the Turk boys were made scapegoats for something that probably wouldn't have succeeded anyway.
