It's not over yet!

I know we're 2 games out of 1st, but we can still win the division! I know we're not looking good right now...but hey, the Giants got the ship righted after their bye week, maybe we can too!

Re: It's not over yet!

well the good thing is teh whole nfc east has a tough scheduel, the eagles had the easiest but they already had their easy part and only got out 4-3

GTripp0012 10-24-2006 12:14 AM

Re: It's not over yet!

The Eagles won't be a threat down the stretch if we play like we are capable of. The Cowboys look as bad as us. So we need to win our remaining divisional games, and catch the G-Men. It can be done. 10-6 could do it.

Agreed.
However, I think we can win the division at 9-7.

Big C 10-24-2006 12:18 AM

9-7 could do it with how hard the scheduels are, giants are frontrunners, they have easier games coming up

I think we need to use the old cliche and just take things one game at a time. Take care of our own business and let the chips fall where they may

Yeah, right now they are, but I am going to wager they won't keep it up.

With 4 division games to go there is still hope, but we'll need to sweep those games to have any sort of shot.

I'm sure it could, but this team isn't going to close out the season at 8-1. Call me a bad fan, or whatever. Apparently we're not watching to same football team...

i don't think this defense and offense are going to magically become studs overnight. too many problems.

It depends on the health of the D.

If we can get healthy and Springs returns to game shape, perhaps the D can rebound.

onlydarksets 10-24-2006 11:26 AM

Re: It's not over yet!

The D is going to be the key. This offense is too shaky right now to not get any help from the D (both in terms of points on the board and time of possession). If the D can force a couple of turnovers and give the O a couple extra shots, we could have a chance at winning some of these games.

61cad 10-24-2006 11:27 AM

Re: It's not over yet!

4 division games and 4 conference games (NFC South)

With "D" giving up 400+ yards every week, the Skins will never make 9 and 7.

More like 7 and 9.

Why can't we be 11-5?

If only Peirson Praleouiaeiou hadn't gotten hurt.

Sorry, I forget how many vowels are at the end of his name so I just put a whole lot.

Re: It's not over yet!

Nobody is exactly running away with this division. We are only 2 games out. I am not suggesting we are going to do it, as I have seen what we call football this year. However, it can be done, and a little bit of last years determination, a healthy D...........................maybe?

Dude! Put down the crack pipe!

If the "D" isn't fixed in the next 3 weeks, this team is not going to make 8 and 8.

I like my crack pipe.

Also, I was saying IF Peirson Praleouioeoiu hadn't have gotten hurt... we could easily look at 11-5 as being a possiblity.

If not for that brutal hit on the first play of the season :(

Brutal hit by who Casper? Didnt he go down on the opening kickoff untouched?

no way we'd beat the colts. Dallas looks shitty. Philly isn't overly impressive. We can beat NYG at home. it's a long-shot but it's doable.

Exactly!
I don't know about you guys, but I wait a long time for the Skins to play again from the offseason, I'll be damned if I give up on them even if they are 2-8!
Although I'll have to find a bridge to jump off if the Skins don't beat the cowpatties.

But I think different can only be good at this point.

Don't forget who we were supposed to be preseason. We definately have the talent to be that team, we are just that team plus a bunch of problems right now.

We play 4 of our final 6 games at home. The road games are quite winnable ones at St Louis and New Orleans, who probably can't be expected to play at a high level the whole season. So I guess the key to the season is to get to 5-6. Sound Familiar?

like we saw a completely different team after preseason? brunell's not changing, so all that's really available for change is the scheme (which needs change, since it's so fscked right now).

bring back shotgun and audibles, don't completely give up on the run after 6 carries. stop being predictable. give the OL TE help when they need it. these are things that should have been done in preseason though, not week 8. oh yeah, i forgot, we don't use preseason.

The 2-5 team from this season is nothing like the 5-6 team from last season. Last year, Washington lost several games by a touchdown or less. The only game they got stomped last season was the first Giants game. This year, three of the five losses have been by double digits. A bye week isn't going to magically fix anything.

All I'm saying is that this division is very competitive, and although the Skins lost 2 games they should have won, you'd be foolish to count them out. They are a win away from getting the thing turned around. If the Giants are to be contested, it might as well be the Redskins that do it, since Dallas is horribly unsettled on O, and Phili has a brutal schedule down the stretch.

when we see what the records are after the eagles game we can give up but anything can happen and we can end up pulling a division title.

9 games left and wait and see ..

Re: It's not over yet!

It'd be nice to remember how to win just one game before we think about anything else.

We'll be pumped for Dallas. Like it or not, though, there will be a lot of people booing if Brunell starts off slowly. Let's hope he can hit a long one early on and set the tone.

RedskinRat 10-24-2006 04:01 PM

Re: It's not over yet!

If the coaches look at the situation this week/next and read it right they see a great opportunity for Jason Campbell to get a home game under his belt with a weak team on the other side of the ball.

Worse case scenario for me would be Brunell starting and sputtering, Collins coming in and the game being a loss. Give Campbell two weeks to gamplan for the Cow-Whores and let him rip them up.

Of course you tell the media that Brunell will start.

Biggest problem is team chemistry. It's a freakin mess right now. Egos are burised, players are pissed off.... it's a disaster...

Re: It's not over yet!

Hess you've got a point. I've always had a problem with the word "chemistry". I don't understand why players have a hard time just goin' out there and doin' the fuckin' job they are paid so handsomely to do! It just baffles me  HAIL from MCUSA!

because nothing in life is ever more important than motivation, and going out and fighting for each other is much more meaningful than going out and fighting for a pay check you've already cashed.

If we had Peyton Manning we'd be undefeated! Peyton would utilyze our receivers. Of course we could say that about a lot of teams, but point is, Brunell is killing us. It is not motivation...we obviously have fire, but it's not clicking.

I understand the thought, but I would wager the defense is let down by the offense. When the offense scores, the defense gets excited and would play better. It must be annoying to know if you let up 2 tds the game might be over.

If the D's mental state rests so heavily with what the offense does they really need to have their heads examined.

The defense is the one that has given up first drive scores in almost every game it seems. Also, the Skins were leading 14-13 at the half last week, only to see the D hand out TDs like candy in the 3rd quarter.

So maybe the offense is the one that's depressed?

Good point. Our defense is a mess right now.
I just believe that our biggest problem on offense (byfar) is Brunell.
