Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
i'm probably going to be raked over the coals for this,so be it
I'm so impressed with tiki barber,I'd rather have him than portis,tiki seems to not go down as fast as portis,and i think a bigger threat out of the backfield Stat Overview Rushing Receiving Fumbles for Barber SPLIT ATT YDS AVG LNG TD REC YDS AVG LNG TD FUM LST 2006 102 533 5.2 29 0 22 190 8.6 18 0 1 0 Projected 326 1706 5.2 29 0 70 608 8.6 18 0 3 0 Career 1992 9320 4.7 95 50 550 4908 8.9 87 12 42 20 Transactions Tiki Barber has not been involved in any transactions this season. portis stats Stat Overview Rushing Receiving Fumbles SPLIT ATT YDS AVG LNG TD REC YDS AVG LNG TD FUM LST 2006 98 414 4.2 34 6 15 155 10.3 74 0 0 0 Projected 224 946 4.2 34 14 34 354 10.3 74 0 0 0 Career 1356 6344 4.7 65 51 156 1284 8.2 74 4 16 10 Parcells makes the switch at qb at halftime,brings in a kicker becuase he knows thats important!! better head to head against gibbs,parcells 2 sb wins,gibbs 3,I have a soft spot for gibbs,but i think parcells might be the better coach,parcells 166-125,gibbs,142-81 snyder or jones? both are interfering owners,I dont really like either one,but how many sb wins does snyder have? 0,jones? at least 3 |
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
if tiki and portis were same age, id go tiki. he is the better player. gibbs over parcells, and snyder over jones
|
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
Tiki, Parcells, Jones.
Tiki, Parcells, Jones.
i can understand parcells, but how in the hell can u pick jones? |
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
cant just stare at the stats man, our o line has not been up to par this year, portis is also coming off injury and when your passing game is as weak as ours is presently it takes away from the running game. Id take portis over barber any day of the week.
gibbs and parcells are both excellent coaches but again you can just look at the stats, parcells was brought in to save teams and he did just that, so his wins to losses column isnt the greatest cuz the first season with a new team theres always struggles.. im in a pickle with this one snyder and jones? i hope their private jets crash into each others |
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
Tiki is good but he is also in a good offense where the quarterback can throw passes over 15 yards so there aren't always 9 men in the box so i think it's too hard to say tiki is better... even though I think he is a much better reciever

I heard about cabo,your a nasty boy!! |
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
Well...right now, I think anyone (including Giants fans) would be foolish to take Tiki over Portis. Tiki's much much older.
Snyder over Jones 100 times out of 100. I'd take Gibbs vs Bill Parcells....but I think Parcells would make the changes that we want to see as fans right now. |

Because he has had more success. |
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
Portis, Gibbs, and Snyder. Not even being a homer. Portis is the best blocking RB in the league and probably a better runner than Barber, Gibbs is a HOF coach, and Snyder is probably a better owner than Jones.
|
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
Portis - Parcells - Snyder.
Portis is an all around better back. Plus young and not retiring next year. This is hard, I think Parcells is more in tune with todays NFL and isn't so touchy feely aboiut things. Hes not afraid to hurt some feelings and break some glass. As of right now, Parcells is the better coach. Snyder doesn't roam the sidelines. That enough is good for me. Both are good owners, but Jones interferes even more than Danny. |
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
take out of the eqaution that tiki says hes retiring, hes showing no sign of slowing down,he looks even better with age,his tackle breaking ability continues to amaze me,portis does not break tackles like tiki does

Tiki is definitely retiring and Manboobs is probably right behind him. Did manboobs win a playoff game with the boys? |

rexi probably said jones, cause jones is a rich winner (SBs), whereas danny is just a rich loser. |
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
I would pick portis, parcells, and synder
Parcells would have benched Bru-tell by now! WE WANT CAMPBELL! |
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
if tiki and portis were same age, id go tiki.
That's retarded. Tiki is, and always will be a scat back. And he's only become an every down back in the last three seasons. He's broken 1500 yards TWO times in TEN seasons. Portis has broken 1500 yards, three seasons out of four. Tiki has 62 touchdowns for his career, while Portis has 55 in six less seasons. Tiki runs behind a line that creates holes you could drive an 18 Wheeler through. Portis has completely changed his running style to fit with the current scheme, and still managed to be successful, even with an inferior offensive line. If Tiki was running behind the Redskins line, he'd probably look worse than Portis. Portis is also the best back in the league without the ball in his hands. He'd rather stone a blitzing linebacker than chop block him. Portis is one of the best pure runners in the league. The only player that is arguably better is Tomlinson, and it's by a very small margin. |
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
Tiki is one of those guys who's game has dramatically improved over time.
When he came into the league yes he was primarily a 3rd down guy, but now I don't know how anyone can deny the kind of player he's become. He's a stud, we should know first hand. Saying he's still a scat back is just ridiculous. |
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
Hard to take tiki over Portis when he is retiring in 2 months.
Gibbs over Parcells by a count of 3 rings to 2. Jones over Snyder by a count of 3 rings to 0. |
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
I agree with Southpaw Tiki was not reliable early in his career and Portis has been good out the box ..
I would go Portis --- More left to come Gibbs --- The Legend not the mecanry Parcells and I think the modern game has left them both behind ... Parcells made the change the fans wanted but may have pulled the chain on the season in doing so. Snyder --- An owner that cares, if the team wins a superbowl with him in charge people will forgive him anything ... hell he is a saint compared to JKC |

Did you happen to see Eli, throwing the ball up for grabs all night? Brunell can't afford to do that because we don't have big receivers to go up and get it like NYG. Anyway...Portis, Gibbs, Snyder. Tiki's been good for what three/four years now, once he figured out how to hold onto the ball? Portis is younger and shows more upside in his relatively young career compared to Tiki at the same stage. Gibbs because he's Gibbs. Not Parcells because he's Parcells. That's pretty much a toss-up. Snyder because at least he means well, and gives the coaches what they need, or think they need for that matter. |

I was refering more to his run style than his production. He has put up monster numbers the last few seasons, but he's still best when he's in space. He doesn't get nearly as many hard yards as Portis, and Portis can make more with less, better than Tiki. As I said before, if Portis had holes like Tiki gets to run through, he'd have a lot more yards and be a lot less banged up. |
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
there isnt one back in this league that i would take over portis. gibbs has more rings so its gibbs. and jones because of the same reasoning. but i love dan snyder

Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
Yes Parcells made the swith at QB but that switch gave them the same if not a worse result.

Tiki is a little tougher than I think you're giving him credit for. 1860 yards last year, that's a hell of a season and those yards didn't all come easy. |
Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
Beyond the rings and the personality, here's the single biggest reason I take Gibbs over Parcells. Loyalty. Parcells was the coach of the Giants for many years but came back to coach the Cowboys. You think Gibbs would have come back to coach the Eagles? I don't. He's a Redskin true and true....except for when he temporarily was with the Falcons

Re: Tiki Or Portis? Gibbs Or Parcells? Snyder Or Jones?
Portis - more versatile (can pass!), better blocker, younger
Gibbs - more successful, better at making unheard-of guys into stars, better values when it comes to conducting himself and assembling a team Snyder - while not the brightest bulb in the football stadium, there's no better businessman in pro sports. He knows how to work around salary caps like no one else. That's the owner's responsibility, to manage the team's finances. Choosing players should be left up to the general manager and coaches. However, realistically, owners DO have some influence in choosing coaches and players and I'd rather have Snyder, who brought Gibbs back and likely was influential if not responsible in bring in Portis and Moss in, than Jones who always seems to bring in drug users and the garbage of the league (Owens, Vanderjagt, Roy Williams, etc.) |

That was as part of an ownership group though, so I don't blame him for that. He had a tiny part of the team. Jerry Glanville, the Falcons' old coach, is also VERY active in NASCAR, so I suspect those two got together about the deal at some point. It's like like Gibbs coached against the Skins. If he could've bought part of the team he coached, I have no doubts that he would've jumped on it and probably bought an even larger slice of the pie. |

Great point, loyalty is underrated these days. I still think it's strange to see Parcells in Dallas. He'll always be the Giants coach in my mind. |
