It's officially Dallas week!
Hell Yeah!?
Seriously though, enough with the off the field ponderings, front office talk, etc. We've got a game this week against our biggest rival with our season on the line. If our guys can't get up for this one the season really is over. I had this dream the other night... the Skins begin an 8 game run this week with a 21-17 win, what happens in week 17 I dunno cause I woke up. Lock it up. Championship. |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
haha, nice. We better beat Dallas this week. No more years of losing to them twice, please!
|
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
To all who are going to the game this week. QUIT YOUR EFFEN BOOING! get behind your team and make it hard for dallas to even think!!!
|
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
I just hope they can turn this around and get it going in the right direction as clearly they have taken a few steps backwards.
|
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
It's is a huge game that we need desperately. If we start off strong on offense and harass Tony Romo, we can take this game. I'm psyched.
|
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
If they play like they did against the Panthers then we can look forward to 2-6.
However a faint glimmer of hope comes from the possibility of Campbell starting. If he starts from the first snap we win, if he comes on after the second half the entire game and the season will be wasted. Come on Coach Gibbs, you know Campbell is the spark this team needs. |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
I'm sick with nerves!!!!!! I want the Skins to step up and off on the right foot after their time off. This is really our last shot to set things right... ugh.... makes me sick just thinking about it!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
Red, I think we all do.
Unfortunately with the way the current roster (OK, Brunell) is there's nothing to suggest that will happen. This could be either the most heartening or sickening game I've ever seen. Please, let it be a Redskins romp over the Cow-Whores, I can't take too many more shitty games. |

It's about a lot of problems that contribute to Brunell not playing well. We'll see how it all shakes out... and I'll be throwing up the entire time.... |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
If we can put together just one two game winning streak this season i pray its with these two coming up. Since playoffs are unrealistic this game is the super bowl for me. On the flip side a two game winning streak means i have to watch #8 that much longer.

Good point, also don't forget the pass tha Keyshawn dropped which could have been a easy 7! |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
Yup, and the blocked punt that SHOULD have been. Romo looked good, but don't put them in the Super Bowl just yet.
|
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
Does it really feel like Dallas week? What is there to get excited about? The Redskins flat out stink. I know that we are not better than Indy but look at how Denver pushed around Indy's d-fense? How come our high priced offense can't do that to Indy a week ago? Denver has their best linemen out for the year! Could the Redskins go on the road and beat a good team like Carolina on the road? No way in hell. Dallas has the better team and they should win the game.

The Redskins are goint to be in serious trouble if they are not jacked-up for this game. The better have some fire in their bellies when they step out onto the field. If Dallas jumps out to an early lead, the game will get ugly. The boos for Brunell will probably register on the Richter scale. |

I hate to admit it, but I feel the same way, it is a sense of foreboding that the Skins will lose the game. Like all fans I'll tune in and watch the game, I swear though if the Skins are listless and showing no signs of life I will be seriously ticked off. It will also prove that the team is fundamentally flawed, as discussed in the article from the past Sunday's Washington Post. The article is titled, "Redskins Pay the Price for Moves", a link is posted in the forum, for anyone interested in reading it. |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
I'm rooting for the Redskins all the way but I would be shocked if they beat the Girls. They have done nothing thus far this season to even make me think they can pull this one off. It would have to be a totally different level of intensity and effort that I haven't seen thus far. The defense can't stop anyone and the offensive is flat ugly. On offense, their best chance is to pound the ball with Portis, Betts and Duckett. Send the kitchen sink after Romo and hit everything moving on defense.

It would be a lot esier to have a conversation with you if you weren't such a smart ass, and didn't attack my posts every f-ing time I defend the SKINS! All is NOT lost. And if you think so, then you don't know Joe Gibbs. You are way too young to even understand the kind of faith people have in that man. |

But seriously, this game could be ugly. I have a feeling that this game will make Dallas fans think that Romo is the second coming of Troy Aikman...
This game will be ugly, and I see the Skins releasing their frustrations on the Cowboys, kinda like a sailor with his first shore leave after a 10 month sea voyage. The Skins have seen plenty of tape on Romo now, and we won't have a rookie corner for them to pick on, we have a 2nd year guy who couldn't catch before he broke his thumb. We don't have the d-line the Panthers do, but we do have better linebackers. My prediction for this game, a whole lotta pain for Dallas. I've been to two games thus far, Jax and TN, and haven't booed the Skins once. But I've thought it. I thought, "Booooooo" after every three and out, after every throw that skidded to an open receiver. |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
You are way too young to even understand the kind of faith people have in that man.
That's just a dumb comment. I may have been young, but I clearly remember the Broncos and Bills superbowls. I know how great of a coach Joe Gibbs is, and I give him all the credit he derserves for the win streak at the end of the season, last year. I also know that he is not God, and he is making a mistake by leaving Brunell as the starter. And as far as "attacking your posts", I generally only do that when you try to tell someone they're not a fan because they don't think everything is fine. |

You can be a fan and still criticize where the Redskins are at. Those who think that things are great and the ship will be righted next week (or the week after, or the week after) are not the only fans. You can have all the faith in Gibbs that you want...show me the money! |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
By all means, please tell us how Gibbs will right the ship and they'll be a completely different team after the bye.
Stranger things have happened. The Giants came out of their bye a new team. I heard Lenny P. the other day make a good point. The NFL is so unpredictable that you almost have to analyze the season in 2 game increments, the league basically flip flops every 2 weeks or so. Think about some of what we saw yesterday: The Jags were on the ropes and they somehow beat Philly who has slid after a hot start. The Ravens who were struggling mightily offensively drop 35 on New Orleans. After a beatdown to NY, the Falcons have rebounded with two of their best games of the season back to back and are now 5-2. Dallas hit rock bottom after looking horrible against NY to beat the Panthers. |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
I also know that he is not God, and he is making a mistake by leaving Brunell as the starter.
Except if the goal is to win ballgames, hes NOT making a mistake. He has access to the same statistical production numbers that I do. He knows everything that I do and so much more its not even funny. And I can tell, from a purely statistical perspective even, that Mark Brunell deserves next to no blame for the 2-5 record. Sure, if he bounces a pass in, he is to blame. But when you have a guy completing more than 64% for more than 200 yards a game and getting picked less than once every two games, you realize that he's doing his part. Not his part and everyone elses like some of you want from the QB position. His part. Gibbs isn't stupid. He can analyze basic statistics without using his QB as a scapegoat.
The truth is that there is little that Joe Gibbs can do to turn this around. Prepare for Dallas and get the guys ready. That's his job. If things continue to bounce the other teams' way, if the defense continues to get walked all over by any offense that comes it's way, we will win about 6 games. And you wouldn't put it on Gibbs. |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
I'll give you and others that it could be the play-calling, but EVERYONE is seeing this. Everyone is seeing that even though his "stats" look great, he doesn't. He has lots of garbage time yardage. He is just terrified to try and thread a pass. Have you ever heard the announcers talking about how "Brunell threw that pass where only Receiver A could catch it?" I don't. If he sees a receiver is remotely covered, it's dump-off time. Sure, he's not totally to blame, but in games where the D was lacking, there surely could have been some better plays from the offense.

Continue to deflect blame from Brunell. Blame it on the defense, blame it on the routes, etc... Completion percentage is meaningless when a good portion of those completions are five yards completions on 3rd and 8. David Carr has something like 70% completion percentage this season. That wonderful completion percentage does about as much good for the Texans as it does for the Skins... 2-5. How is slightly over 200 yards a game something to boast about? That's servicable at best. Even less so when you consider that almost 400 of Brunell's passing yards this season have come from garbage time. And please spare me the garbage time theory. I already know it's just as tough to pass when the defense gives you a 15 yard cushion at the end of a blowout, as it is during the rest of the game...:laughing2 And I never said Gibbs was stupid, but he is wrong if he thinks Brunell is going to lead this team to a championship. Who's to blame for the playoff run last season? The defense was putting points on the board, Portis was banged up and it was on Brunell to make some plays. He couldn't step up to the challenge. He's basically been playing the same ever since, outside of the Jags game. And while everyone knows it's not all Brunell's fault, he's also the easiest problem to fix. They can't replace the entire defense, so change what you can, and see if it creates a spark. If it doesn't, what have you lost? A playoff spot? Yeah... sure... |

Me too! Me too!!! GO SKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How many of you thougth we would do what we did to them last year? How many? Really? I was driving there and told my son "I'm not sure they'll win, but I'm hoping for the best." That game ended not anywhere NEAR the way I expected it to. You just never know. |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
Jason Witten is gonna eat us alive unless our linebacking core picks it up. As for downfield throws, Romo is shaky enough to throw a few ducks, we just gotta be ready for when they arrive (which we never are). The reason Carolina was able to gain yards on short throws to foster was the fact that the threat of steve smith deep spread our dallas' D. If we don't illustrate a downfield threat at some point this weekend, it's gonna be a long day for portis, cooley and company. Dallas can tackle, making the short pass ineffectvie. I don't think blitzing romo is gonna work much, he has a quick release and good mobility, i would say sit back and hope for D-line pressure, and confuse romo with many different zones.
God help us, please please, i just wanna beat dallas once this year |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
I just don't see it there are way to many ? marks in your team if gibbs could fix all that in 2 weeks than we have a contest I don't say we're great we can shoot ourselves in the foot to many times but I still believe we're better.
And we sure need the W if we want to still be close to NY they pla ythe texans for Christ sake. |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
I dont think theres anyway we win this game, theres a chance we wont have portis or moss, even if we do we cant stop anybody on defense,Romo will have a field day against our D,we cant even get pressure on bledsoe,a mobile qb will eat our lunch, carolina's D actually can put pressure on the qb and he beat them.I was very impressed with romo, that didnt look like that was his first start,he was directing traffic like manning and calling audibles,he missed on some of his passes but he looked good, but thats why they play the game, theres a chance we will win,but I dont hold much hope
|
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
Honestly, our D will be perfectly fine. Don't put Romo in the hall yet. I mean holy shit, he only had to engineer a couple decent drives thanks to turnovers. We'll have both starting corners back. Portis and Moss will be fine. Don't worry about our defense. We'll see the defense we were supposed to see all season.

With Brunell having the problems he's having with his timing, we will be going 3 and out a lot! I don't care how good the D plays, if the offense can't sustain drives, the D will be on the field all day! |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
I haven't bought my tickets to Miami just yet. Romo looked good, but I still feel homocidal over that NY Giants loss.
Our D looked horrible, our secondary looked lost, our QB's looked lost. I love that they came back and beat Carolina, but that is Carolina's M.O. - they show up big one week and then disappear the next, kind of like their All World DE Peppers. This game should be close. |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
I don't think the Bledsoe / Brunell situations are similar.
If Brunell is: Causing Sacks Missing Blitzers Unable to feel pressure Going into a fetal position when Defenders are four steps away, then you can talk about a QB switch. |

The difference is, Brunell will not take the sack. He will check down to the 3rd receiver when it's 3rd and forever! When given time, Bledsoe will get the ball down field. Our offense his based on timing. The WR's are open down field, but Brunell won't pull the trigger! Different situations, same result.................no production. However there is one huge difference. The Cowboys did the right thing and went with Romo. |

What, are you kidding me! Defense and Special Teams created those turnovers. The Panthers only had about 20 yards in the 4th quarter. The skins will be dominated again this Sunday. |
Re: It's officially Dallas week!
I've gotta disagree TMC, I thought the Cowboys looked pretty strong. The Panthers definately hurt themselves, but the Cowboys looked solid. Romo threw for 270 yards, the Cowboys racked up over 400 yards, and the Panthers were held to just 200 yards.

But at least he's doing his part." I know you miss your boy, Pat Ramsey, but c'mon. Ripping on MB isn't going to bring him back. And how come Brunell gets all these garbage yards, and no other QB in the league does. Garbage time yards are part of the game. It's part of a concept called "not giving up". All teams do it. Maybe not the Raiders, but you catch my drift. The Texans D is worse than the Redskins. It's a common problem in the NFL. Bad D=losses. Seriously, you are making my point for me here. |
