Next on Deck: The Eagles
As they say, one game at a time.
Now our beloved Skins has another NFC East battle to play, and with yet another team coming off a bye week. (third one this year!) The Eagles have dropped three in a row, and needless to say aren't playing very well right now. With a win in Philly this Sunday, I hate to say it, but we could be right back in the thick of things. I'm sure everyone has at least one or two 'keys' to the game, but quite frankly we need to be jacked for this. I think Troy Vincent's on field leadership could help us big time here! Please discuss... |
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
We got this man! I belive we will be on fire call me crazy but I think we will be.
|
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
I think they have a good chance of beating the Egirls. I'm worried, but not THAT worried. The Egirls are hurting, and not as great as they think they are, which might be to our advantage. I think they'll believe they can run all over us. I will say this - Wd HAVE TO better our Secondary to beat McNabb, or all is lost.
|
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
I think we need to game plan a little better for the blitz. Samuels played solid today, but he's shakey when out there by himself. And unless Portis is kept in the backfield to pick up linebackers, I get real nervous.

The Eagles don't blitz as much as people think, they're just more effective when they do in fact blitz. I don't think Samuels is shaky when he's out on an island. I think Samuels gets a lot of undeserved flak and Jansen doesn't get enough (although he played well today). I too get nervous when Portis isn't in the backfield in pass protection. Betts has improved over the years in pass protection (he used to be horrible), but he's nowhere near as good as Portis. |

I'm nervous about this one. Our secondary is probably going to get lit up. Plus, the Eagles will be coming off a bye and are going to be well prepared for us. |
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
You know, SGG, our starters will have another week playing together too...and it looks like Wright might be finding a groove. God knows, Arch needs to stay on the bench.
|
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
I got back from UT just in time to catch this game. For the rest of the Cowboys fans who frequent this board, this isn't directed at you. Vaquero, you can come and swing on my fucking nuts.
Where's that sweep at NOW bitch? |
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
Vintage Malcolm.

Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
Someone's being having some happy juice.
|
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
He won't be here. He'll come in saying how we got lucky. He can take that loss and his fucking QB and stuff them up his ass.

Someone else has too, it would appear. |
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
Again, Romo did not impress me at all. The only money ball he threw was the one that TO dropped. The rest were easy throws. But still expect the Homo blowing to continue.
I love beer. |
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
good catch, 724.
Why is my thread getting jacked!? |

Thanks. I'll be eating some tonight in honor of everyone!

Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
good catch, 724.
Why is my thread getting jacked!?
It's not, the eagles suck and the Redskins will play much better with our men, Vincent and Springs, leading the secondary. I think Vincent earned instant leadership with that blocked kick. He'll have a couple of tips about playing McNabb and the other guys on the secondary will probably have a more receptive ear. |

Yep, I love wine. |
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
Agreed 724. Vincent should get the nod over Arch this week, despite the contract issue. Springs may be feeling better physically too, who knows.
But the longer Arch stays on the bench the better. |

I said this in another post, but Vincent's interview after the game was quite clear. The problem with the Skins in the new coaching staff and the play calling. He said when he came on board that the players were very unhappy with the play calling and there was a lot of bad blood... but that he was trying to get them to relax and just play football.. hmmmm? Sounds like our problem is mental after all. |
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
Hess, when did Vincent say that? Was it on radio...I watched ComCast and didn't hear him say that. Bad blood??
|

I saw it on the local news. He said that when he came on board that the players were frustrated and upset with the coaching staff and play calling, but that he knew there was talent and everyone wanted to win so he was trying to get the guys to relax and just play football. He said at his age he know he wasnt the answer and only wanted to add value to a team that was not balanced. He was trying to be vague, but it was quite clear. |

No really! Since it's gonna be a hot playoff implicating game they're changing it to Monday night. Remember how they added that "flex schedule" for the latter part of the season? Well, this is one of those times. See you Monday night! |
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
If we are trying to win the division, this is most likely a must win.
But I understand that this is by far the toughest game we have left on our schedule. Really the only truly unfriendly environment we have left vs a good team. Considering that 10-6 probably gives us a playoff berth, I wouldn't write the season off if we lose. We will need a certain degree of luck to win this game. Having Andre Carter will help vs the Eagles passing game. If he can be disruptive consistently, we can win this one. |

That beind said, whatever pressure he provide will definitely impact the game. But it would be nice to see him have his best game of the year. |
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
philly has a better line/QB and a better team. we'll see how we do. dropping the eagles games means 3-3 BEST case for the division, which means we won't have tie breakers (our NFC record isn't hot either).
|
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
definitely a winnable game, it wont be easy, but winnable. the eagles havent beat anyone of class yet, and are the most overrated team in the league right now IMO. coming off a bye week though i think...figures

Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
I dunno Big C, the Eagles are a very dangerous team. They've looked very inconsistent, but they've looked dominant at times. I just don't know which Eagles team is going to show up. The Eagles throw the ball very well and Lord knows our secondary has trouble covering.

the eagles and cowboys have had by far the easiest schedule in the nfc east. they got the niners and packers as their other games besides the required ones of the nfc east, while the skins have got the vikings and rams, giants have got seattle and chicago, and cowboys got detroit and arizona. however, the eagles have already played both the niners and packers, had the easiest part of their already lightened scheduel, and are only 4-4. they have lost 3 ina row. however, the reason i am worried just a bit is because they are coming off a bye, already 2 teams we have had to face in nfc east after a bye (giants). eagles have an average defense at best and no running game. |
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
Mean Green will be ready. We made them look bad twice last year. We will have to play even better than we did today.
|
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
I think that if you take away L.J Smith from him, healthy Donovan looks a lot like hurt Donovan.
We can win this game, but this is the week that we have to start CREATING TURNOVERS. That is what fueled our streak last year and it is what we need to win tough road games this year. If we are +2 in turnovers we can beat Philly. Anything less will take a miracle like what happened today. I believe we were -1 today. (I know the blocked kick is like a turnover but I don't believe it's counted as such) |

Hopefully not to Carlos Rogers. |

Exactly! Will we see anymore CP's characters now? |
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
i dont want to see his charecters b/c after that one this year we lost 3 in a row!
no characters portis! please |
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
McNabb will absolutely annihilate us if we don't come up with a clever gameplan, I think we will score 20+ points on offense, so it is up to GW to cook up something special this week. I hope stallworth is out, so rogers doesnt have to cover him. Either way, we have a shot!!!!
|
Re: Next on Deck: The Eagles
This is the third team this season we are playing after they come off a bye, and all have been on the road. That is brutal. The trick is going to be time of possession and turnovers, IMO. Keeping McNabb off the field is step one; TOs when he is moving it is step two. Be nice to see Vincent get a pick in Philly.
We're going to need 24 points to win, given Philly's pass-happy attack. But I think Philly will get real down on itself if we come out strong. They've lost some tough ones recently, and those philly-fans like to boo their own team as much as they like to drink perfume and turpentine (it's WAY cheaper than Thunderbird or any of the classy stuff...) and yell "Yo, Adrian!" Hit em early and often. |
