Play coach w/ Randel El
Alright, we've got one of the most versatile players in the nfl on the redskins. I think the skins are using ARE pretty well. However, if there is a play or plays that you would like to see ARE called for him, let's hear it.
Mine is... About twice a game i'd like to see ARE line up at QB. I'd like to see him hand off to CP about 5 times in a row while faking the roll out. I think that would draw some attention and at least throw the defense off a little. On the 6th time, fake the handoff w/ the option to throw or run. What's the worst that could happen? What do you think??? |
Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
I have to admit, it's intrigueing. Generally, the images I just saw in my head are replaced on the field by something out of an NFL endorsed Stephen King film. We don't seem to have very good luck in general with trick plays.

Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
ARE is a very sexy player...his bomb to Lloyd was a very good toss (lil over thrown- maybe). He's got the ability to change any game..he needs the ball in his hands more...imagine what his presense would do to feel up santana or lloyd (can't focus on santana).
|
Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
6 times is probably a bit much, but i guess it wouldn't really matter who's handing it off...
|
Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
Portis, Moss, and Randel El are play makers. They should touch the ball as much as possible. Good things will happen. Having ARE on the field forces the defense to watch him like a hawk. Will he catch it, throw it, run it, the defense has to guess. Or, will he touch it at all and go deep with Moss. They have to focus on him when he is on the field, so we should take advantage of that. Pittsburgh did !

Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
OK, cool!
"Hey, Randal! Drop and give me 20!" Not as much fun as I'd hoped. |
Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
I bet he and Portis could run the option very well, even though it usually doesn't work in the NFL.
Remember Brunell trying to pitch to ARE earlier in the year? :D |

Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
Anyway, here's something you don't see everyday. If he's going to line up at Qb, why not run the old option with him and Portis?
|
Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
I think when we get Campbell finally playing I'd love to see ARE line up at QB and campbell out wide. Not that they would pass it but Campbell at least gives the appearance of athleticism out there.
I'd also like to see some direct snaps to ARE. Anything to get the ball into hi shands creatively and make one more thing defenses have to cover. |
Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
I was just thinking about a direct snap to ARE and roll out and pass to Cooley running a crossing route about 15 yds down the field and/or in the red zone.

Don't worry. I stepped in for you. I practiced all week with the first team finally so I was ready to go when called upon |
Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
Thank you sir. I'm still at the end of my career, but I'm a starter baby.

He IS a sexy player. I wouldn't mind seeing him line up with the cheerleaders in hot shorts and a halter top. I'm having such a gay day...what the hell is going on? |

Maybe it was BrunellMVP's post about how sexy ARE is that got my mind in the gutter, but this post is hilarious to me. |

When he (ARE) isn't on the field, our offense is much more predictible.

Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
I would love to see the Skins switch formations and split Brunell out, bring Randle El under center, have Randle El run the option with Portis as the trailer. A variation to that play is to have the same motion as the option and send the third receiver deep for an option pass.
|
Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
Put him back there and let him throw it. He thows better than the starter.

Have him dump it off to Brunell in the flat on 3rd and 12 and make him try for the first a few hundred times. Well, with Brunell, he'd be crippled after a couple tries. |
Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
How about playaction to portis to one side and then shuffle pass to Randle El from slot position. The option is not an option with NFL speed.
Also how about a Fu#@ing downfield pass. |
Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
This isn't super creative, but in general, I'd like to see him throw the ball even 2-4 times a game. We give it to him on reverses often and we could confuse the holy hell out of the defense doing stuff like that. Say he looks like he's going to pass, everyone stays out in pass coverage and he gets 10-12 yards on a rush while everyone is downfield.
|
Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
It might be fun to line him up at running back. Maybe even put Portis out at WR on those plays. He sure is great to watch out there on the football field.
|
Re: Play coach w/ Randel El
it's good to get the ball in randal el's hands, however, in the past he has been a very mistake prone player. he often tries to do too much, gibbs wouldnt like that, so i'd say give it to him like once more per game than we usually do, and it should shake up the defense just enough.
