F people who crank the heat at work

And by people I mean women. Not that men don't get cold, but it seems like 99 out of 100 women are constantly cold in the office. I don't get it, they have these little space heaters at their desks cranking, and they are constantly messing with the office thermostat cranking it up all the way, and I mean all the way.

It's literally like a sauna in my office today. I just went and turned down the thermostat, but I guarantee it won't be long before I hear someone say "I'm cold", and they'll crank it up to full blast again.

Control of the thermostat is a constant battle here.

It's because they come to work in bikinis and have little-to-no body fat. It gets cold in the office when the Coors Light train comes through so I feel the ladies have every right to turn it up. :biggthump

Hahahaha. That's too funny, because I'm sweating my ass off in a training room right now. We're in a computer lab with no windows and poor circulation. If we turn down the heat it gets to cold we can see our breath (I'm fine with that), but if we turn it up it turns into Africa in here. There is no middle ground.

hehe. I couldn't take it any longer, so I got a fan. Now, it blasts directly on me all day. :D

Re: F people who crank the heat at work

I can't have heat in my office because of this weird drainage problem outside my window. I have this window that is in the basement, yet if leaves fill up the gutter outside, I can honestly see water rising above my window! Shit, I just remembered my camera is here. I'll take a picture.

That window behind my desk has had almost a foot of water over it before. It seals when I put it down. During the summer I have a lounge chair and table outside of it in the gutter. I'm cool.

I know. I'm taking pictures of my ultra nerd office. I'll make sure I don't unclog the gutters outside and then put fish out there and give you guys a picture WORTH seeing.

I've told them that if they move my office one more time, I'm going to burn the place down.

At least I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much.

Honestly, this is a bad ass office. I used to basically have one in a closet. It doesn't look big, but behind me was a couch, two chairs and a coffee table.

Milk carton crates and used cable spools don't count as chairs and a table.

The worst is when their fucking little heaters trip the circuit and you loss your work on the computer.

LOL we've had people leave those little heaters on all weekend, talk about a fire hazard.

Re: F people who crank the heat at work

They don't allow the little space heaters in my building, we don't have a public thermostat, and they don't switch over from A/C to heat until the first week of November. I'm surprised the women in the building haven't started bringing in blankets yet.

Re: F people who crank the heat at work

Keep the heat off in server rooms. They'll overheat. I worked at a previous job where the stupid ladies would turn on the heat in the small room where we kept supplies AND the server. Even when we had IBM come out to do a parts replacement on one of them, they warned us to keep it cooler in the room and I still couldn't get them to listen. It's not like they even had to work in that room (although I did), you walk in occasionally for under a minute and grab something and get out. If it's 60 degrees in there, you won't die!

I hope they've fried it by now without me there to fix the thermostat daily.

Re: F people who crank the heat at work

At my old job I sat with my back facing this chick who would always crank up her little space heater, regardless of how hot it was outside. I really hate being hot, so I would crank up my fan and point it toward the heat.
Everyday was like a battle of good vs evil, until I finally got a new job and evil prevailed.
My coworkers seemed sad that I was leaving, but I really think it's because I took the little fan with me and they had to sweat it out.

Re: F people who crank the heat at work

Yep, in a big office building, no control over the thermostat. It's usually more on the cold side than warm.

And, at my old job, any time I wanted to cool off, I'd go sit in the server room for 10 minutes. It was so nicely ice old in there.

Server room = Best place to keep beer/spirits.

Not that I condone workplace drinking.

Without a doubt. My office used to be right next to it and it was like 45 degrees ALL THE TIME.

Only if you don't work with stupid women who want to be warm at all times and turn the server room into a server oven. :D

Why, then it's your duty to drink at work.
