CP broken hand
How long is this injury typically last? Atleast a couple weeks. Now do we bring in Campbell, season is over.
|
Re: CP broken hand
Portis is having a VERY nicked up year. One injury to the next
|
Re: CP broken hand
maybe if our offense wasn't two-dimensional (LEFT or RIGHT), defenses wouldn't stack up underneath and give Portis his LOWEST CAREER SEASON.
|
Re: CP broken hand
I think injuries have been the main problem with Portis, not the offense. He's missed two starts and has been limited in most of the other games due to injuries.
|
Re: CP broken hand
how's our running game this year in general? it has suffered much from this year's playcalling and Brunell's tendencies as a passer.
|
Re: CP broken hand
The running game has been a disappointment, but it's still been effective at times, just inconsistent.
|
Re: CP broken hand
Huge problem...out at least 2-4 weeks with a broken hand. Really depends on where the break is and if it was clean or will require surgery.

I couldnt agree more. Its gotten to the point of embarassment. |
Re: CP broken hand
You know what, I think we should let him sit out the rest of the year. He has been banged up the whole year and once the season is lost there is no point in bringing him back to take some more punishment. Let's see what TJ and Betts can do.

Clinton Portis = Curtis Martin / Priest Holmes

I hate to say it, but I agree. Don't let Portis hurt himself anymore. Start JC, lose the last 7 games, put this season behind us |

i guess..........

Huh? |
Re: CP broken hand
Clinton is going to missed, but this is why we got Duckett and he looked ok today.
|
Re: CP broken hand
You can only feel bad for Portis. They bring in this new system which LJ racked up major yards in Kansas City so I'm sure Portis was excited at the opportunity. Now, with 8 games gone he has had injury after injury and is on pace for his lowest rushing total of his career. It just sucks because everytime he gets hurt he is just playing extra hard which is his style, like the preseason injury on the INT return. The guy plays so hard and it's great to have him but he is just having bad luck with staying healthy.
|
Re: CP broken hand
imagine being a running back who likes to run downhill and instead sent to the outside play after play where every defense in the league knows you'll be. here's your result.

put him on IR ,and give the other guys a chance.portis can work on getting healthy next year.i could'nt agree more! |
Re: CP broken hand
If Portis gets shelved, it could benfit the longevity of his career. What's the point of risking his future on a lost season?
Might as well use Duckett and Betts now while we still have them. |

Umm.... |

That's idiotic. Portis has been a tough and reliable guy until this unfortunate year. Martin and Holmes missed time EVERY YEAR. No comparison. |
Re: CP broken hand
Portis is done for the year.
Figure on him being out for at least 4 weeks. We'll definitely be officially eliminated by that point. No use in bringing him back for garbage time. Let's see what Betts and Duckett can do, and maybe we can figure out who stays and who goes next year. |

I agree...... Their playing time for the duration of the season (depending on their effectiveness) could very well determine which of the two we resign if either. |
Re: CP broken hand
i kind of hope we just IR him and let him heal up, hes been banged up all year and he needs to get healthy. let there be a battle between duckett and betts, whoever performs the best try to re-sign them

Is Saunders outta here? Or does Gibbs make him incorporate the running plays that Portis likes? CP was definitely not happy with all the outside runs. |

I agree. I'd rather have him 100% next season. As long as they keep him off the field during the preseason, he should come into 2007 100% healthy. Wow, I can't believe we're already talking about next year. |
Re: CP broken hand
I don't know why. For some reason it seems when he runs between the tackles, he just runs into someone's back and falls down.

You saw a running play that went between the tackles? You must be thinking about last year. |

CP was definitely not happy with all the outside runs.
i shudder to think. Portis better stay the hell HERE. one thing i do know, is that TJ won't be doing that outside crap Saunders is so obsessed with, so hopefully Gibbs will remind Al about the middle of the field.... OR...we keep Betts. yawwwn. |

We're definitely not running any right up the gut, but it seems we're running a lot between guard and tackle and just getting stuffed for two to three yard losses. |
Re: CP broken hand
to me portis didnt seem to happy this year, even at the start of the season. i hope he doesnt want out, but i wouldnt be too suprised if he pulled a coles. portis just seems like a guy who cant stand to lose, even moreso than most atheletes, and if he takes too much losing he cracks
|
Re: CP broken hand
I have a few screws in my thumb to fix the joint and torn ligament there. Portis won't be playing anytime soon if he has the surgery I heard reports about. I couldn't even hold a pen or do ANYTHING with that hand for a while.
We COULD have hope for a late run to the playoffs with Portis...but with 6 losses and NO Portis...I say we start Campbell now and run with Betts and Duckett a lot. Campbell will miss Portis' blocking though. Can Duckett block? At his size, he BETTER be able to. |

i think the only one happy about the style of Saunders offense is Betts. for obvious reasons. just ask Moss, Lloyd, Randle El (least he gets to pass every now and then and completely embarass MB), Cooley and Portis in private. |
Re: CP broken hand
No way in hell will this keep Portis out for 4 weeks.

It's funny, I was talking to somebody about this and I mentioned "Remember when Emmitt Smith played with a broken hand".
I guess we don't have Emmitt do we... |

So I take you hate Joe Gibbs?
No hate. Just I am real about what is going on. Everyone wants to give him a pass on this year for what happened in the 80's. That's crap. I am a fan of good football and this year the team I love is stinking out the place. I hear Gibbs excuses for the problems but I haven't seen any of the problems fixed and that falls on the head coach. |
