With Brunell on the bench...

What are we going to talk about now??

Who is the next whipping boy?

We're now taking nominations.

I guarantee you Saunders is going to be the fans' next whipping boy, even if he calls a perfect game and the players don't execute.

Re: With Brunell on the bench...

Oh next it moves into playcalling and fighting over who should call plays...Gibbs or Saunders? Then if the playcalling is great and we're winning games, people will start questioning why is Joe Gibbs still the head coach....blah blah blah....there is always something to whine about...lol!

Gibbs if the rest of the board won't cry about it.

This changes will fix about 20% of the problems.

Please, Redskins fans with nothing to bitch about?

I think the only time that might be a reality is if we were to win a Super Bowl.

Matty, come on don't be a pessimist...uhh...please? Let's pretend that we as Redskins fans have finally entered into a new golden era. We enter the Burgoldozoic Period. The pinnacle of Redskin greatness! Past accomplishments will cast a small shadow next to what's to come.

I'm just excited! X-mas came early.

who to attack? where do we start?

coaching staff? entire D? O??? its a team effort that leads to 3-6. Brunell just happened to be the worst person for the job...glad he's gone.

I'd say more about 50% of the problems. But it will create new problems. Now we will have to deal with the trials and tribulations of rookie mistakes. Of course, who cares right now since the season is over?

Ill cast my vote for Novak. Now with a first time starter and no CP sure would like field goal attempt's to be less of a crap shoot

Time to bench Campbell. He's just not getting it done. I mean why bring in Collins if your not going to play him !?!

Re: With Brunell on the bench...

Novak and Williams.

Oh man, theres going to be some flaming when Campbell gets picked twice this week. The question is who do we blame? I vote Brunell.

Really, I'm as excited as the rest of you for the new era to begin in Washington (no, not Speaker Pelosi, what an F'ing joke), but some of you really are going to be doubting yourself when the games are not even close. Part of the learning curve that you wanted so dearly...better accept it now.

Let's hope there won't be one. However, we've gone through just about everybody associated with the orginazation already, in some cases, both past and present.

There's still plenty of time for Campbell to fill that role. I'm not buying all this, "We're going to be patient with Campbell" baloney. That will last about two games.

I nominate Al Saunders.

Re: With Brunell on the bench...

Oh poor mark Brunell. I feel so bad for him. He fought his guts out every week and played smart for this team. Get over it, Mark Brunell is washed up and deserved every bit of criticism he got. I don't cry for Mark Brunell, he can rot away in his mansion and never be heard from again for all I care.

Brunell has held this franchise back for 3 years now, and it's time for us to groom another QB to eventually be the face of the franchise. The revolution will be televised.

A politician who tells the truth? I have never heard of such a creature.

Let's not get into a political debate.

The QB was a large enough problem to make it worth addressing.

Now Gibbs has started the new era we can have something to get excited about. At least until we are shown otherwise.

Re: With Brunell on the bench...

Everybody knows that I respect Joe Gibbs and I love the fact that he's the coach of this team. I think Williams and Saunders are both great at their jobs. It's not translating to wins this season for some reason. Everyone wants to say "the players are dropping balls...the players are missing tackles...the players are committing the penalties..." The common link? Mental mistakes. Why doesn't the coaching staff get judged for this? Because the coach's name is Joe Jackson Gibbs. No one wants to say it, but if he weren't Joe Gibbs his job is hanging in the balance.

I don't think that Gibbs should be fired. Not by a long shot. However, I think Joe needs to step it up and do something. A team who's making mental mistakes and losing by double digit points often isn't preparing well. Does anyone think that Art Shell is a great coach right now? What about Nolan? Or Jauron? The point is the team is playing poorly and I can't put it all on the players. This whole organization is losing football games.

I agree with what Tony Kornheiser was saying earlier today: "Dan Snyder needs to say to Gibbs I'm paying you 5 million dollars a year...you should be calling the plays. You're an offensive genius. I don't see why I'm paying a guy 2 million dollars a year to do something you're great at."

724Skinsfan 11-13-2006 08:48 PM

Re: With Brunell on the bench...

By announcing that Brunell is getting benched just as AA was benched the week before, Gibbs is starting to appear like he is holding players accountable. If you could make a top 5 list of individual players that have performed less than expected AA and MB would be in that list. Holdman is there and so is Andre Carter. I still feel that Rogers gets a little more leeway just because he has less than two year's experience. Injured players or players earning veteran minimum also get a little more leeway. Having said that, I predict the next benching will be Holdman. Once players start realizing that their playing time is cut they'll start playing with a little more commitment. I hope we see a tougher "no one's job is safe" atmosphere within the Redskins organization

Re: With Brunell on the bench...
now with brunell on the bench, what are you going to be talking about?
Simple, next in line is Campbell and how bad he is, and how we grossly overated, and overpaid to draft him, and then turn that pick right back on Gibbs.

Or, just in case Campbell lights it up the topic will be, how Gibbs delusional loyalty towards Brunell cost us the season.

Don't worry I have thing's covered from every angle, thanks for your concern though.:D
