QB rumor on 980...
Team starts Campbell the rest of the way. Mark Bulger gets brought in during the off-season. The caller claimed to have inside info.
If they have to give up draft picks to get Bulger, get ready for more of the same for the next few years. |
Re: QB rumor on 980...
Why do we need another aged QB? Lets go with the kid. He is the future, right?
|
Re: QB rumor on 980...
I wouldn't mind him as a back-up to Jason Campbell, but not at a huge expense. If they could sign him to a reasonable contract without having to give up draft picks, I'd be all for it. He's a young QB who has had some success in the league.
|
Re: QB rumor on 980...
its just that, a rumor
|
Re: QB rumor on 980...
Why would they speculate about bringing Bulger in when we haven't seen what Campbell can do. I hope it's false.

Exactly, this is a ridiculous rumor. It would cost a hell of a lot to get Bulger and I'll crap myself if we trade any more picks. |

It could be just a rumor, but even if true I'm sure he would not be coming here with the expectation of being the starting QB. In a back-up capacity, I could deal with that because he's certainly better than the lifelong bench warmer in Todd Collins. |
Re: QB rumor on 980...
I can't see St. Louis letting Marc Bulger go. If Bulger goes, they don't have a solid replacement. I would love to see us start Campbell, get rid of Brunell and get Trent Green as a backup. Also, what's going on with Rocky McIntosh? I say replace Holdman and see what the kid can do.
|
Re: QB rumor on 980...
No way St. Louis is going to let Bulger go unless it's for a boatload of picks. Not even worth discussing IMO.

Maybe now that our season is a wash, GW may decide to give Rocky some minutes. I have heard him say in different interviews that he didn't think Holdman was playing that bad. Still, based on the way this team has been playing thus far, I can't understand why he hasn't gotten some time. |
Re: QB rumor on 980...
only way i can see bringing in another qb is if campbell really, really sucks it up and shows no potential...and i dont think thats happening. he is gonna really have to turn this coaching staff off to bring in a new proven qb

Just wanted to throw it out there. Crazier things have happened around here. All of the ex-Saunders QB's are going to be in the mix one way or another in the off-season. I hope that Campbell makes the most of his opportunity but all of the indications leading up to this point showed that Al isn't too high on JC. |
Re: QB rumor on 980...
Bulger would be straight for a back-up. Can't see him starting though.
|
Re: QB rumor on 980...
Bulger is playing better than any other QB in the NFC including McNabb right now. He will want to be a starter and deserves to be a starter. We can't afford to add him to a roster with Jason Campbell.
|
Re: QB rumor on 980...
Yes, Bulger is having a great year and they have no backup groomed....rediculous rumor.
|
Re: QB rumor on 980...
STL would never let bulger go, and bulger would NOT accept a backup role when he could start for at least 20 teams.
he's a good QB, but we nee to at least see campbell before worrying about that an the cap cost would be insane... unless we didn't feel the need to have a functional defense. |

Huh? |
Re: QB rumor on 980...
Bulger as a backup... that is really hilarious.
Hey why not just trade for Peyton and put him on the bench too! |
Re: QB rumor on 980...
It wont be Bulger they bring in if JC flops, it will be Trent Green.
|
Re: QB rumor on 980...
thats insane. campbell has to play we have invested way too much into him to bring in another veteran qb. If you ask me the qb the skins should covet if they are going to try to get one is matt schaub who is vicks backup in atlanta. pretty sure he is a free agent at seasons end.

I'd guess Schaub would want to be a starter somewhere though, wouldn't he? |

Of course he is going to want to be a starter, and some team is definitely going to want to bring him in as a starter. I think it's funny that people think we can bring in these starting quality QBs and put them behind Campbell. That's not reality for a variety of reasons. |
Re: QB rumor on 980...
I'm saying if the skins get Trent Green he comes here as the starter.

I get that, I was talking about the people that think guys like Bulger would come here as a backup. |

What makes anyone think they are tied to Campbell? He has been 3rd string until now. The only reason he is getting a chance is because the season is over. As far as the "we have made an investment". We invested draft picks. Those mean absolutely nothing to this team. This is Campbell's chance. If he shows that he is effective, than there is a possibility that he will be the starter next year. If he is so-so than I guarantee they will bring in one of Saunders old guys (if Saunders stays) or another veteran QB. My biggest fear is that Brunell remains on the roster next year because that would be way to tempting for Joe to bring him in when the starter struggles. |

You are correct, no way that happens. |

You are 100% correct. Let's say that Campbell is worse than any of us imagined. Brunell will make another appearance once his health improves. |

I think as long as he's not a disaster he'll be the starter next year. I hope and pray Campbell leaves nothing up for debate. I really hope he comes in and takes hold of the starting job and never looks back. |

This season? I really don't see any benefit in going back to him. Unless Campbell is a complete flop or gets hurt, are there any other reasons why you think MB would be back this year? |

where did you hear he was hurt? or are you talking about his arthritis? |

You can tell he is hurt. I think he has been hurt the whole season. |
Re: QB rumor on 980...
I'm not so sure that he's hurt or if he's just 37 and fighting against a broken down body.
|

I dont even think JC has to be a flop, hurt, etc, for MB to come back. For whatever reason Gibbs likes MB (like OBC liked Weurful) and if JC stumbles I think Gibbs will have no problems going back. Remember last year when he told everyone PR was his man but the 1st time he stumbled in came MB. Gibbs likes MB. I think JC gets at a minimum 2 games before Gibbs even considers bringing back MB. |
Re: QB rumor on 980...
No way MB comes back unless it's due to injury or Campbell being a total disaster.
Gibbs has made some questionable decisions but he's not completely nuts. |
Re: QB rumor on 980...
This season is in the tank. Time to move on in 2007 and figure out who's who? MB is not part of that "starting" equation

I agree. Plus, are we forgetting that Gibbs picked Campbell? So wouldn't it stand to reason he likes him as well? |
