F...avorite Sandwich.

Since it looks like we're all getting pissy again, what's your favorite sandwich because I need to figure out dinner tonight?

Nothing is too weird. Right now I get some mesquite turkey, provolone, iceberg lettuce and A1 sauce. That's right, A1 baby.

I gotta go with a store bought one: Subway's Sweet Onion Chicken Teryaki.

Re: F...avorite Sandwich.

Always a good choice. I wish they'd sell that sauce.

Nobody makes anything crazy?

The Wreck with everything on it from Potbelly's is money. Their hot peppers are the best around and they never forget to remove all the stems (ahem, Subway).

If I'm just making one at home I like to go with toasted marble rye, peppercorn turkey, a little bit of ham, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and mustard. Hell, if there's some bacon left over from breakfest I'll throw that on there too.

Re: F...avorite Sandwich.

Sometimes I make a samich with sliced ham and sprinkle shredded cheese on it,put it in the microwave just long enough to melt the cheese, then top it off with some pepperoni, and of course add some spicy mustard. I usually go with Guldens but Heinz spicy mustard isn't bad either.

Re: F...avorite Sandwich.

For tailgates, my dad buys really thinly sliced steaks, marinates them in Italian dressing, then grills them up with some swiss or pepperjack cheese and serves them on lightly grilled hamburger buns.
We call them Steve-o's Steak Sandwiches, because we're all a bunch of dorks.

Re: F...avorite Sandwich.

My roommate in college used to make tuna fish with mustard and onions. That was the worst smelling shit I've ever been around, but he loved them.

TMC, get in our car and drive down to exit 150. Take 220 North about a mile. On the right across from Lord Botetourt High School is a restaurant called L'il Cucci's. Order a Sloppy Cucci. I'm not telling you what's on it but it looks like it sounds.

Potbelly's is beyond money, and its cheap as well. It's like Captain, always a good choice.

you got a toaster oven?
i like to stick to potato bread, but you can vary it as you see fit...turkey, ham, pepperoni, bacon slices (the 15 second kind), pepper jack cheese and jalepeno peppers if you dont like it too spicy you can dial it down with some banana peppers, really really good if you like meat and spicy things, its also good to add some mayo... put everything on, including the peppers and toast it open face for about 5-7 minutes in the toaster oven... you can choose whether or not to toast the other piece... ITS FREAKING DELICIOUS... mmmmm all this talk about food i cant wait to go home for thanksgiving break... mmmmmmmm turkey

I hate Quizno's, Subway and Potbelly's all the way.

Quizno's just a big ass piece of bread, and it is really expensive.

If you wanna spend money, spend it right. Panera is where it's at.

Opinions are like assholes, we all get'em and they all stink.

I think Panera blows the big one. Completely overpriced and if you want to talk about to much bread and not enough meat, well your at the right place. I think that Subway sucks the next they definitely don't put enough meat on the sandwich but I blame that on Jared. I've never had Potbelly's. If your ever in any of these locations I suggest checking out Penn Station, they are pretty f-in delicious and they have fries where the aforementioned do not.

I have heard good things about Penn Station, and Potbelly's is really good you should check it out.

I still just dont like Quizno's bc I feel you dont get much with the price(the portions are really tiny).

When I think about cheap subs, always Potbelly's and Subway. When I wanna spend an extra buck or two, I always take Panera over Quizno's.

I guess we just have to agree to disagree.

Fair enough. But read this description of the Smokehouse Beef Brisket:

Double Portion of slow-roasted, mesquite-smoked beef brisket, with melted cheddar cheese, topped with sweet and smoky barbecue sauce.
That just makes my mouth water. Heres the centerfold.

Rat, you are the man.

As for the traditional sandwich, I have to go with a Ruben, dark rye and extra kraut.

Good call RR. That sandwhich would look even better with me in it. As for real sandwiches, I like mine plain. Nothing better than a BLT or a plain sub with ham, bacon, lettuce and tomato.

Man, I was reading this thread when I was making dinner last night. I went out and made a Giggity however in the end. VERY delicious.

724Skinsfan, next time I'm down in that direction, I'll definitely stop by and have that...

Everyone is telling me all this about Quizno's and I REALLY need to try it. I had their french dip one time when I was in Florida, but that's the last time I tried them.

Re: F...avorite Sandwich.

Quiznos is ok. They have some really good stuff, and they have some so-so stuff. Potbelly is definitely money. Can't go wrong with the Wreck. Panera is ok as well. They have some good soups, but their sandwiches are definitely overpriced. Subway is ok, but it's kinda like it's own thing. You either get a sandwich, or you get Subway...

But if I want a good cold cut sub, I'll either hit up Wawa or Sheetz. All their ingredients are fresh, and the bread is usually top notch.

At home, nothing beats Shaved Virginia Ham on good fresh rye bread, cheese (swiss or american), lettuce, a little bit of mayo and a little bit of spicy mustard. Tomato if you want, but I'm not a big tomato on sandwich fan.

TheMalcolmConnection 11-15-2006 09:22 AM

Re: F...avorite Sandwich.

I used to do Sheetz all the time late night at college. I wasn't a huge fan of the flavor, but it was great drunk food.

Re: F...avorite Sandwich.

I figured out the trick for Subway (but my coworkers seem to think it's dumb). I always bitch that their bread is too big for the portions of meat that they give you, so I've started ordering 6" subs instead of the normal 12", but I get them with double meat. That way, I get the same amount that would come on the 12" but with less bread, plus I save a buck.
It seems to make sense to me.

TheMalcolmConnection 11-15-2006 09:38 AM

Re: F...avorite Sandwich.

Good call. Basically when I go there I just get the sub I would have made at home.

1. Cheesesteak
2. Meatball sub
3. Ham and cheese on pretzel roll...toasted
4. Pastrami
Nothing beats Quizno's Black Angus Sub.
I haven't tried one of those yet because I've been stuck on the Chicken Carbonara subs from Q's. Chicken, alfredo sauce, bacon, clogged arteries...what's not to love?! I top mine off with Jalepenos.

Next time!

I have had Q's "cheesesteak" subs and I was disappointed. It was good, really...but it wasn't what I know as a Cheesesteak.

I do that too sometimes. Quizno's does give alot of meat, but they also have huge bread, and it costs way too much. They have their little 3inch sub which costs almost as much as a subway 6inch. I got one of those from Quizno's once when I didnt have much loot. I finished that crap in about 3-4 bits, no lie.

They play that clip in the screen at UMD football games now. It was hilarious the first time they did it because I wasn't expecting it. Still pretty good, but much more expected.
