Redskins-Rams: Postgame Thoughts
1). The run game looked awesome for the first half and really puttered out in the 2nd half.
2). Clock management was a joke; someone needs to tell the coaches that you want to KEEP timeouts when you're down in the 4th. 3). Betts' hands are nowhere near as good as as Portis' and he, along with the defense, cost us the game with his late 4th quarter fumble deep in Rams territory. 4). The pass defense is disgusting. It's the worst I've seen since the unit was coached by Edwards. 5). Sean Taylor has been playing like a 5th round draft pick, not the 5th overall pick. He's taking poor angles, blowing tackles, and isn't making the game-changing plays he was supposed to make with regularity. But, the silver lining is that we'll have a better draft pick. |

My thoughts....
F*CK!!! Terrible pass coverage and all around secondary play. |
Re: Redskins-Rams: Postgame Thoughts
My goats of the game...
Defense - The Rams have some great weapons on offense, but come on. Betts - He learned a lesson about 2 hands today. Campbell - Awful completion percentage. OLine - I think they flew home at halftime. Randle El - Seriously, who calls tails? Daseal - Just because. |

And depending on tiebreakers, may keep NYG out of the playoffs w/ us letting the Rams win today. |
Re: Redskins-Rams: Postgame Thoughts
Daseal Sucks
Seriously thought... If we get rid of Springs or Portis, I'm going to take a long hard look at myself and see if this Redskins thing is really for me. Our defense is 100% different when he is in. In addition, I dont give a fuck if Betts runs for 10,000 yards a year. He's fumbled away 2 games for us, so label me unimpressed by him. |

That being said someone needs to work with him on securing the football, but he's been better than anyone expected, offensive MVP. |

fuck you guys, seriously. betts lost us the game? fuck off. defense lost us this game. u quickly forget what he did with 100+ yards and 2 td's.

I dont care. We've won 1 football game, thats all I care about. I dont give a hoot if its Osam Bin Ladin in at running back. If were winning, I'm happy. Were not winning, I'm pissed. |

He has been running through huge holes. Did you take note of what happened to his production when those holes disappeared in the second half? |

We were in position to win, it dosent matter. At that moment, if he dosent fumble, we win. Whatever he did earlier, I dont care. With the holes Betts has had, I dont care, Cartwright could have done close to the same shit. Clutch players dont fumble in that position. More importantly, Clinton Portis dosent fumble in that position. Period, Case Closed. Dont fumble with the game on the line. There is always other stuff that could have gone one way or the other. Is Betts soley to blame? No, because our defense was non existant. All I'm saying is, we had the game in our hands and he fumbled. That fumble is on him, and Portis dosent do it. |

Oh yes, but the Rams offense was on the field so much, that it gave their defense plenty of time to rest. Fact of the matter is, our defense is just pitiful. Losing Springs early on really hurt. |

You're goddamn right he has, but everyone wants to give him a pass because he's behind Clinton and has had 5 straight 100 yard games, guess what? They haven't won that many of em. He's fumbled away 2 games this season on drives that should have given the team the lead. This one would have put the game away. Nice job, punk, now I'm glad you were injured for the majority of your career. |

I'll agree with that. Just think, if he catches that INT on the first play, he doesn't get hurt on the second. |

Simply do not post on the site until you can get a handle on your emotions. I know the loss stings, but there's really no need whatsoever for cursing out other people. You're a longtime member and I would think you'd know that by know. |
Re: Redskins-Rams: Postgame Thoughts
Many plays (or lack thereof) lost us this game, but at 3rd and 1 on our 12yd line, to call 40 gut and get stuffed for a loss is inexcusable. That is not an Al Saunders playcall, it stinks of Gibbs. I'm not suggesting that some creative triple reverse should've been called, but a 40 gut running play in that situation with 8 men in the box is simply a mistake.
The D was non-existent, as were the wide receivers. Glad we lost this one - moving steadily on up the draftboard. Merry Christmas all. |

Re: Redskins-Rams: Postgame Thoughts
The d today was just plain bad. Worst in the NFL bad. Don't tell me the reason is that we had a couple injuries. Most teams do.
The o played a pretty good game and put up 31pts. However we sputtered down the stretch. Betts does have the tendancy to fumble but let's not place the blame w/ him. I'll give the loss to the d. |

Betts fumbled away two games? That's a bunch of BS. One play does not lose any game. The defender made a great play on the strip. Sometimes you gotta tip your hat to the other team. Bulger is a really good pocket passer and he just carved up our secondary. They were just better today and made more plays. For you to attack Betts by saying your glad he was injured for the majority of his career TOTALLY CLASSLESS. As a Redskin fan you should calm your ass down before writing such stupid things. |
Re: Redskins-Rams: Postgame Thoughts
Wow, I might have to banish my own thread to thread hell.
EVERYONE needs to chill out. If you're too pissed to see straight (which would be understandable), wait until you have calmed down to post. Engaging in personal attacks on the site is not only really lame and typically reserved for the resident 12 year olds, but its a bannable offense. So, let's play nice and look forward to next week's game where we'll keep the Gmen outta the playoffs and watch their team implode. |

I will agree that it is classless to wish injury on someone, I've said that a million times and only fell into that because I've been drinking. However, that play lost the game today. You can't argue that. If he just gets tackled, or puts two hands on the football, the Skins win the game. You really can't give me any kind of credible argument against that. If you say the D should have made the stop, I'll agree, but it never should have happened like that. That play cost that team the chance to put the game away. Drunk or not, you won't convince me otherwise. Oh, and the fact that 2 potential go ahead drives this season ended with Betts fumbles, kinda supports my argument... |

Why not get rid of Jackson and let Gray run the whole show in the backfield? Maybe that would resolve the whole issue the mole brought up about the safeties and CB's not being on the same page. |

I think that would be a big improvement, for sure. |

Yes he should not have fumbled. But honestly that was a great play by the defender and not too many RB's would have held on to the ball in that situation. The defense gave up over 500 YARDS OF OFFENSE. |
Re: Redskins-Rams: Postgame Thoughts
Betts had both hands on the ball. The defender had one hand on the ball and punched it out with the other one (from behind Betts). Good defensive play. Period. End of story. Get the idea?
|
Re: Redskins-Rams: Postgame Thoughts
The QB was pretty bad today. I really like him, but not today. He gets a D grade. I thought Rocky looked quite good though! Don't get me started on Holdman. The fact that he is actually still playing makes me question the entire Dfensive coaching staff. He is horrible!!!!!!

If you can watch the replay, please do. It's clear that he only had the ball in his right hand and his left hand was doing other things, that was not on the ball. |

Exactly, he was putting his left down to brace against the fall. It wasn't a great play, he didn't come outta nowhere, he had Betts wrapped up. It was a smart play. One Betts should have expected... |
Re: Redskins-Rams: Postgame Thoughts
I just saw it again and stand corrected. I still feel it was an excellent defensive play and not Betts's fault. (The left hand was trying to keep the defender away.)

It was a head's up play by the defender, but it's a play Betts should prevent. I don't care if that means not fighting for extra yards. Just get down and don't fumble. The most important thing to do in that situation is not getting 2 more yards, it's not turning it over. That's why the Skins were calling safe plays. That play is something that guys try to do all the time. Rarely does it succeed. Betts needs to keep his head in it right there and cover up the ball. |

It was a good defensive play, but given the situation, there is no way I'd go and say it wasn't Betts's fault. You have got to get both hands on the ball when guys are running up on you from behind (especially in a tie game with 2 mins left!). It's fundamental. |
Re: Redskins-Rams: Postgame Thoughts
The skins always ruin christmas. I don't celebrate it or i would be even more upset. Last year was great but it was just a tease. It set me up to think this year would actually be good. I don't know how much longer I have to wait until i see my skins win a few playoff games. We are horrible and it is sad to see. We could easily be 5-11 to finish and that puts us back 4 years. I don't get it. I have been a fan a while and never have seen the skins actually be good. F... all the good teams and their fans.
That is the only thought i have after this game. |
Re: Redskins-Rams: Postgame Thoughts
Does anyone remember last years game against the Rams? Well the difference was that Bulger played in this game and he was out last year. Bulger has real good chemistry w/ his WR's. He was thowing the ball well before any of his WR's broke out of their routes. Let's hope that JC develops that with Moss, LLoyd and ARE during the offseason. WR's were nowhere to be found today.

Re: Redskins-Rams: Postgame Thoughts
guys, it's football... fumbles happen... it's too easy to say betts should have done this or that to prevent it, but sometimes on the field balls are knocked away in game speed. it's unfortunate betts coughed it up when he did, but he had an outstanding game otherwise. the last few weeks, everyone has been praising his play (much of what has to do with the o-line's success) and after this fumble, people say he should be traded.
don't let the extreme emotions rule your general perception. the guy has shown to be a steady contributor, he reads his blocks, cuts up the field quickly, shown great vision and can catch out of the backfield. He makes a crucial fumble that probably prevents a win- but stephen jackson fumbles late in the game that gives us a chance to tie. jeff wilkins misses a 41 yarder that should have won it for the rams. there were several opportunities for either team to grab the win. it's football and it happens. it was an exciting game, but remember betts' fumble wasn't the end all be all to the final result. it looks as though sean springs is a bigger part of the D than we thought... taylor seems lost without him in the backfield. |

Mmmhmmm...I'll bet it was. Visions of Redskinettes dancing in his head ;) Seriously though, I don't know (actually I doubt) if this streak of great running along with the new contract has gotten to Betts' head. But, as much as I hate that he fumbled, a humbling experience like this could be good for him. Let's see if he can bounce back next week. As for the defense...sigh. And man how it would've been nice to have gotten Bruce last off-season. |

It concerns me that Taylor is lost without Clark, lost without Springs, lost without Sportscurmudgeon. I understand this is a team sport, but he's supposed to be a star in this league. He can't be so dependent on others for his success on the field. |

Holdman was bad today as was Marshall. Holdman just does not have the ability to play at the NFL level. And Marshall just can't get off blocks. |
