Carlos Rogers talks smack on Shawn Springs?
This kid is turning out to be a real disappointment. According to Bram, here's what he said:
Asked if the team should find a way to being Shawn Springs back, Rogers paused and said “He’s a guy who is about to be paid a lot of money and only played a few games this year. If they restructure that would be great, if they don’t we’ll have to work in the new guy.” Bram Show At this point, Id rather have a gimpy old Springs than Carlos back there any day of the week. I know it doesn't read that bad, but I don't think teammates should do this, Spring has been a solid Redskin since coming here only suffering a setback this year. |
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
If he really said that he is a fool. Stay away from any questions about other players contracts especially when you are an underperforming top ten draft pick.
|
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
I see nothing wrong with what he said

I do. He's talking about a respected established Redskin and how he needs to hit the pavement or restructure. What do you think the other vets will think about Carlos now? He should just shut up and thank God NIGHTLY that he can count his millions while being a draft bust. |
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
While Carlos never should have said anything like that about a teammate, he's right. With the end of last season and most of this season, Springs has shown that he has trouble staying healthy. Therefore, we might have to consider our options with him.
|
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
I agree that he should have probably said "no comment" but he didn't actually call out SS. He did say it would be great if he restructured. I think we need to stop picking apart the things that these guys say like they are running for political office.
|
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
Sounds like he's just speaking the truth. It's no secret that if Springs comes back he'll have to restructure.

He should be worrying about some "new guy" being "worked in" his position the way that he got toasted this year. He has nickle back written all over him |
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
# 1 - You should keep your mouth shut in regards to other players business.
# 2 - What he said was pretty much right on. We can't afford to pay a guy top dollar for 10 games. Restructure or well sign a healthy CB to take your place. |
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
He's right, but he's not the one who should be saying it.
|
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
The truth hurts. Probaboly shouldnt have said it, but I'm not mad at him for saying it. It's pretty much common knowledge; so I dont think he meant to say "we need to get this guy out of here".
|
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
The only thing wrong with what he said was that he didn't say, "and we really need him back next year, because look at how we did when he was out of the lineup".
Just because Carlos played like ass this year doesn't change the facts about Springs' contract and situation as he explained them. You also can't tell from that text what his tone or context was in saying that. |
He's right, but he's not the one who should be saying it.
the players will be the first ones to tell you its a business. its definitely not good business to talk about a fellow employee. now what would rogers say if someone in redskins management said to him, " since thats how you feel, you have pretty much had a sub par season, how about restructuring, or will have to break in a new guy" |
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
I also didn't like the shot at getting paid millions and only playing a few games. Carlos doesn't have any right to be speaking about team mates in any way. He is only a 2nd year guy and got beat more than a drum at a montley crew concert. He needs to keep his mouth shut.

I agree.......It's not his place to discuss terms of another player's contract with the media. Players contracts, and their terms should be left to the FO. Whether he's right or wrong is a non issue, it's just that some things are better left unsaid. |

Didn't Motley Crews drummer loose an arm and played with one? |

Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
Irks me a little but it's not like he really talked any smack. It could be interpreted that he meant that anybody outside of a perenial pro-bowler in his prime needs to restructure when their cap num gets to a certain point. I would bet it is even talked about casually amongst the players. Not much to see here to me.
|
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
Talking smack would be like Carlos saying Springs is an injured overrated corner that is paid much more than he's worth, and that Carlos can handle the #1 job anyways. I don't really look at it as smack talk, he's just pointing out the obvious. That said it's gonna make him look bad because he's not the one that should be worrying about it.

Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
What a punk! You don't talk about other people contracts to the media. His sorry ass should worry about why he sucks so bad...... and we could have had Shawn Merriman.

Springs has had problems staying healthy his entire career. He missed a ton of games when he played for the Seahawks. I still think he's a top flight corner when healthy though. |

plus, during an interview on comcast sports, springs made it clear that he might not be back next year because of his cap number. this was right after the rams game. |
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
Can you believe the nerve of this guy? Maybe he's jealous cause SS can play man to man bump and run coverage! Worry about your damn self Rogers. Damn, just what we need. Some T.O. shit!

Yeah, just what we need. A guy who put up monster numbers while taking something that got him suspended for four games in violation of the steroid policy. But to stay on topic, this is not something a team player should be saying about a teammate. Rogers needs to learn to keep his mouth shut in the media. I don't think it's a big issue, but still. |

i'm not quite understanding why some of you guys are getting so upset with rogers. all he did was say pretty much the same thing that springs had already said to the media. springs had already made it clear that his return to washington was in question because of his cap number. |
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
Springs is like a glass plate, it doesent take much to break but you pay a lot for it.
|
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
straight shooter ,,, I like the guy a little more now, just ease up on the 15 yard cushion and catch INTS and we are in business
|
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
Carlos's article and AA article is a classic example of finger pointing which maybe should be expected from one of the worst defensive backfield's play in NFL history by 2 of the worst performers in that backfield
Kenny Wright, Mike Rumph and some of the rest should come up with their own little articles for why they can't play DB |
Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
He makes a good point, he just should've kept it to himself

Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
I don't really have a problem with Rogers speaking the truth. Especially since the person he's talking about has no problem involving himself in others players business ALL the time. Springs commented on the Arrington situation repeatedly last season and he began calling out individual players early this season, while he was still on the sideline. I think Rogers went easy on him.

Re: Carlos talks smack on Shawn Springs?
Yeah, it's not shit talking, but it's just something he doesn't need to be talking about.
