My Defensive Makeover
I would like to play GM here and Makeover our defense here is what I would do with each position:
DT: I would draft Alan Branch I think he could come in and make in impact right away for us, I would keep Griffin as our other starter, and I would also like to groom Golston to become our starter once Griffin leaves. I would rotate Salava'e, and Montgomery. DE: I would like to sign Justin Smith from the Bengals to become our starter at LDE, I would keep Andre Carter our starter at RDE, I would draft a DE as a project in the later rounds maybe Justin Hickman from UCLA, and Daniels and Evans would make a good rotation here. LB: I would like to sign either Kawika Mitchell, Lance Briggs, or Adalius Thomas to come in and play MLB, I would keep Marcus Washington at SLB, and start Rocky McIntosh at WLB. Lemar Marshall and Khary Campbell would rotate and serve as backups. CB: I like Shawn Springs and Carlos Rogers as our starters here for one more year I think the changes made up front will greatly improve their play. I would keep Kenny Wright and Ade Jimoh to serve as backups, and maybe draft C.J. Gaddis from Clemson in the draft, but I think in 2008 we will have to look at signing or drafting somebody to take over for Springs. S: I would have Sean Taylor start at FS, and I would sign Ken Hamlin from the Seahawks to come in and start at SS I think Taylor and him would get along greatly with Hamlin being our new Ryan Clark. I would keep Prioleau, Fox, and Doughty as backups. |
Re: My Defensive Makeover
that's a lot of free agent signings for a team that is projected $1 million under the cap.
|
Re: My Defensive Makeover
this is like living in disney. where are you getting all the money from?
|
Re: My Defensive Makeover
Well the free agent signings that I would make would be Kawika Mitchell at MLB, Justin Smith at DE, and Ken Hamlin at SS, I think we can make this happen we always seem to be able to get free agent signings done, and I don't think these players will be commanding huge money.
|
Re: My Defensive Makeover
This could work....if we go arena football style and have players play both offense and defense. Taylor at WR/S. Washington at FB/LB, etc.
|
Re: My Defensive Makeover
I agree with you on Smith though. I would love to have him here.
|
Re: My Defensive Makeover
I wonder if it'll come down to a Smith or Clements decision. I'll say Clements if that's what we have to choose from.
|
Re: My Defensive Makeover
I've been hearing a lot about Lance Briggs -- there was a short piece on him the other day on NFL Network. Very underrated, in the shadow of Urlacher, but quietly has a huge impact for the Bears D.
He'll command top dollar, no doubt -- and if I'm wrong, the Skins will offer him double. |

How about Jared Allen? I still haven't forgotten his 3 sack 2 forced fumble game against us last year. He has a tremendous motor and I believe is also a FA. |
Re: My Defensive Makeover
Restricted I believe.

Re: My Defensive Makeover
maybe to teach a few tricks of the trade from the nfl to the drafted d line maybe get Warren Sapp and Randy Moss (#1 reciever we need a true one) for Clinton Portis and archuleta brandon loyd?
cant release archuleta cause itll cost 8 mil against next years cap so hes trade bait, betts fits better with the coordinater we have now raiders need a RB. and loyd cause raiders would need a WR if traded. sapp was with the RAIDERS hes proven to be awesome defensive player alot better than fat man salavea and griffen the joke. maybe even switch to the 3/4. fire gregg williams and if cowher leaves pitt get him as a defensive coach. hes proven he can handle injuries astill have a good defense.they gotta shake up alot of stuff itll make people think i gotta do alot better or im GONE!!! for other defensive peeps like linebackers and our sucky corners free agent nobodies and drafties.move sean taylor 2 FS he cant cover worth crap, latly hes been in position to stop the play and hasnt done the job out of position and everyting when did he go from almost probowl to this??? put him through some drills or something. fox is a keeper 1st day on the job and already impresses me and im very skeptical, shawn aint worth the money he gets most of them folks are OVERPAYED!!!! big namers anybody? heck no cause they get all that money and do nothing!!!!! nobodies play harder and have to so they get another contract once we get over the big name illusion and stick with nobodies we'll be just fine. |
Re: My Defensive Makeover
Smith is gonna cost too much, we just can't afford to be signing free agents this year, it's just gonna kill us even more down the road. We gotta take our licks now, and recover later on, so we can get out of this mess that we are in.

I'm scared. But also very relieved that you aren't running the team. Cowher as defensive coordinator? C'mon man let's stop sniffing glue and get back to reality. The guy has been one of the best coaches in this league for 15 years and is coming off a Super Bowl win and now he's going to take a step down to defensive coordinator? |

Re: My Defensive Makeover
I might only be 5'9", but I'm not skinny, so I call dibs on playing DT along side Sapp.

We could trade Lloyd, Rock, Brunell, and Carlos Rogers for Peyton Manning. Cut the O-Line and get some nobodies there too, except for Ogden who would could trade ARE for. I don't even know how to react to this. You want RANDY MOSS on our team?!?!?! RANDY MOSS!?!?!?!?! WHAT?! Have you seen that man's attitude? Last thing we need is Campbell throwing to an asshole like that, he's had a horrible attitude evern since he's been in the NFL Sapp WAS an awesome defensive player when played with the Bucs, now he's not. What are you talking about? His production will become less and less as he gets older and older. It's true that Griffin and Salave'a aren't studs, but if we get rid of two older guys to bring in another old guy, it'll totally kill the locker room. Don't you agree? We need to keep the team together Fox is a keeper, but I highly doubt he'll be starting next season. And how can you be hating on ST, a lot of the plays he's been missing aren't even his responsibility! He's been atleast putting himself in position to make plays, that other Redskins should have mad before he had to try to clean up. Half the time he's running all the over from the other side of the field to pick up on someone else's mistake!!!! Stick with nobodies? We have some nobodies on our team, Wright and Rumph, they played great for us this year, huh? |
Re: My Defensive Makeover
Put me in at LB or TE. 6'3 230. I'm a bargain too, just give me a mill per year.
|
Re: My Defensive Makeover
I'm 6'0 200lbs, I wanna play corner. I can pretty much shut down 1/2 of the field by myself.
|
Re: My Defensive Makeover
If we mixed in some big name players with the rest of us scrubs and brought in some really well known coaches we'd be jsut like those Nike commericals. That half back pass seemed to work for them, so I think it could work for us too!

Wait, wait! I want to be one of those guys who runs out on the field during timeouts with a Gatorade bottle and a towel.
They wear sweet khaki pants. I look fantastic in khaki pants. |
Re: My Defensive Makeover
I'm kind of Santana Moss-esque, minus the speed and unreal football skills.
I'll play nickle and be the gadget play guy on offense (reverses, options, etc.) Wonder what my Madden rating would be? |
Re: My Defensive Makeover
Brandon Lloyd is worth negative right now. I think we'd get more out of a turd covered in burnt hair. AA has value???? I think we could maybe get warren sapp's jock strap for AA. Randy moss is a less effective TO, enough said. It is funny though, how Snyder might like the idea, or at least he would have a couple years ago when he was a little boy with a new christmas toy (redskins franchise).

Re: My Defensive Makeover
Goes without saying we keep Albright to be our long snapper. Am I right guys?
|
Re: My Defensive Makeover
My sister is convinced that I should try-out to be one of those guys that runs the huge Redskins flag across the endzone after we score a TD. I think I'd need to hire a personal trainer before I tried anything that exhausting.

Re: My Defensive Makeover
Move AMD to DE - I got Sapp's back at 6'2" 275. Since I am the slowest white man ever (I make Grady Jackson look like a sprinter), I am only good on the line. Hell, I am so slow even AA could cover me.

Shoot, I say we move him to QB. He can stand with his back to the line of scrimmage and just long snap the ball downfield every time. He'd make Peyton look like a punk. |

I'm fine with that. In fact, I have a wicked spin move (it takes a full 8 seconds). |
